18 weeks
2. How big is baby?
An artichoke
3. Any upcoming appointments this week?
Nope, anatomy scan isn't until April 3rd.
4. Any new symptoms?
Nah, still round ligament pain and peeing all the time. And hungry all the time!
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions?
Rave: my birthday was yesterday and it's been so nice celebrating with hubby, DS, and my family!
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I went to college a half hour away from home. When I graduated, I got a teaching job in the district I grew up in, so I moved home to mom and dad and lived there for 2 years. Almost 2 years to the day I graduated, I bought my first house about 25 mins away. After I got married and pregnant with DS, we sold my townhouse and had a 6 week gap until we closed on our new house so we moved back in with my parents for that time. Hardest 6 weeks ever! I love my family, but missed my independence.
2. How big is baby? Avocado
3. Any upcoming appointments this week? Just had 16 week checkup on Thursday and we did an elective early gender scan. Found out it's a BOY!
4. Any new symptoms? Same as PP, peeing all the time. This guy is sitting super low so at times I'm uncomfortable.
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions? My husband really wanted a girl and is kind of disappointed it's another boy. Any others dealt with this? He says he's ok but he's just been really quiet since we found out.
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't? I went to college 1.5 hours away from home. When I graduated I took a job 30 mins from home and worked there for a year. I then moved a 10hr plus drive away from home. That was 11 years ago. I'm now about 7 hours but still too far! I would never move back to my hometown as it is very, very small and I have become a city girl. I would like to move closer, either to the town I went to college in or to St. Louis.
17 weeks (+1 as I post)
2. How big is baby?
A pomegranate or a parsnip. I'll stick with a pomegranate.
3. Any upcoming appointments this week?
Nope, anatomy scan next week
4. Any new symptoms?
Honestly, no. I feel pretty 'normal'.
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions?
Rant: WHY ARE WE GETTING A FOOT OF SNOW!? I'm over it.
Rave: Still thinking out this one...
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I've stayed fairly local, which I regret at times but it wouldn't have lead me to where I am today so I can't regret it too much. We will move at some point to have more land/a bigger home but stay within the state, I can't imagine being far away from my family.
2. How big is baby? Avocado
3. Any upcoming appointments this week? Monthly checkup next Monday, 3/20. Also scheduled out A/S for April 6th. Can't wait!!
4. Any new symptoms? Not really. Some random stretching, achiness in my lower belly. Lots of gas as well. Also, I feel like I'm starving all of the time.
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions? Rave- just really looking forward to finding out the gender and hoping everything looks ok on our A/S. Rant- my mom has been pissing me off lately. We talked to her and my Dad about coming here for Christmas because it's going to be hard for us travel with the baby, and I won't have anymore leave left. All she said was, "well, I want to spend Christmas here with MY family and MY son". Ummm, so I guess spending the Holiday with your daughter and new grandchild just wouldn't be good enough? Whatever..
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't? I spent both my undergraduate and graduate school years away from home and then moved to my current location (about 6 hours away from home) right after grad school. It would be nice to be closer to either my family or my husband's. But I think we're pretty settled where we are for the long run.
@sgrant432 Sorry DH is having a hard time. I always felt like DH was disappointed with two girls, but sisters are amazing and DD2 loves her daddy and melts his heart by the minute. I'm sure your husband's disappointment won't last a second once baby is here.
1. How far along are you? 17 weeks
2. How big is baby? Pomegranate
3. Any upcoming appointments this week? Yes! Midwife on Monday and ultrasound on Wednesday to check baby for anemia and my cervix length. They will make me come back for A/s in 3 weeks.
4. Any new symptoms? Not really. I think DH and I have had a mild-ish flu, but no bad fever for me (on the positive actually it has felt good to go #2)!
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions? Heading to Florida on Friday for 10 days. It was 10 degrees this morning and 13 yesterday and we are forecast for 22 inches of snow on Tuesday so FL will be an improvement!
@WineAndDogs are you in MA as well?
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
i went to college in Cambridge in 2001 and stayed in Boston until 2011, then moved half a mile from my childhood home. I love my hometown even more as an adult!
edit to say hometown is an hour south of Boston
DD#1: 5/29/12
DD#2: 1/14/15
Baby #3 on the way due 8/19/17
2. How big is baby? Dill pickle
3. Any upcoming appointments this week? I had an unexpected appt this past Thursday for severe sharp cramping and spotting. It turned out to be round ligament pain (spotting was not related apparently). I felt pretty dumb for going in but if I didn't I would have been a nervous wreck until my next scheduled appointment.
4. Any new symptoms? Round ligament pain ugh. So painful
5. Rants/ Raves/Questions? I have a legit bump now, so excited!
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't? I left my home town (city, really) for college and do not plan on going back. I haven't felt connected to the city and love my husbands home town so much more.
@kristenk727 Happy birthday!

5. Rants/ Raves/Questions?
I'm starting to feel a little depressed this past week. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so we've only have like 4 days of (cold) sun in 5mo. It's getting old. Luckily the sun just peeked out as I was typing this.
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I graduated from high school in Connecticut, 1995 and went immediately to school in Boston and lived there a couple of years before deciding to get married and have my first child. I don't regret becoming a mother, in fact it is my greatest joy and accomplishment, but I definitely carved out a more difficult path for myself leaving school and opting to devote myself to being a mother and wife. I was only 19! A year later while pg with my son, my (ex)husband and I U-hauled it across the US to Portland, Or. and I've been here since..19 years this August.
I don't think I will end up back east anytime soon to live now that I'm pretty established here, however I dream about retiring in Florida some day.
Thank you!!
@donehue and @WineAndDogs I feel you on the snow we have had record amounts of snow and rain this winter, there is no place to even put the snow anymore. We have 10 days of sun and warmish weather and I don't think I have ever been this excited about a weather forecast.

5. Rants/ Raves/Questions?
We just went to San Fransico for the weekend and it was amazing. We used to live in Oakland and went to visit are old neighborhood. It made me nostalgic for those days, even though it wouldn't be a feasible lifestyle for us now.
6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I grew up in Orange County, CA and went to college about 4 hours from home. After college I had a job offer near where I grew up and it made sense to move home. My dad passed away my junior year of college and my mom was still adjusting so it was nice to be there for her. Then I moved to the Oakland and worked in San Fransico. DH and I quit our jobs to travel and did that for over a year. After that we ended up on the coast of CA a little north of LA and are now in the mountains of Northern CA where we hope to stay. I loved growing up near the beach but would never move back to Orange County, it is too much like a big city without having the same vibrancy a big city has (at least for me). My mom has also moved to Northern California so I don't have much family left there.

6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I moved about 45 minutes from home right after high school, then moved about 2 hours away a few years later to get away from some struggles i was dealing with at the time. While living there i met my husband. After i got my life in a better place, i moved back home. I grew up in a tiny tourist town in Idaho, it's a town of about 500 people. It's the cutest little town ever! Right now I live in a home that's less then 2 miles away from the home i grew up in. I came back becuase i love the community that comes with living in the valley I grew up in, it's an amazing thing you don't get in cities.

6. GTKY: Did you move away from home after high school/college/marriage/etc? Do you plan to move back at any point if you did? What made you stay if you didn't?
I moved 45 minutes away from home as that is where I went to college. I think it is far enough away that people (read: family) cannot just drop by unannounced but they can be here in an hour if needed. DH and I both agree that we don't really care for our hometown and the demands are family are just so high that if being 45 minutes away isn't cutting it after a while, we will move farther lol.

I moved away from home when I went off to college and haven't moved back, its been 9 years. My parents have moved away from "home" now and live in South Florida so there is nothing tying me to where I was raised, as I was born in Northern California and landed in Oklahoma when I was 9. I still live in Oklahoma just not in Tulsa, but a small college town a little over an hour away from Tulsa. My husband and I compromised after we got married, he was raised in a tiny town in Western Oklahoma and I was raised in a big city, so we settled where we live now since it gives us both the comforts we like.
