Just that fact that I have to be at work while feeling so miserable is my issue! Getting up while it's dark too, ugh. Can I please just feel better already?

Any other Midwest mamas out there getting pounded with snow this morning? I'm in Wisconsin, and this is the worst we've had it all year! It took me over an hour to get to work this morning, when the drive is normally 20 minutes. Half of my office isn't here. Of course I have a huge project due today, so I'll be here all day.

@beezeemarie I'm in Toronto and we're due for a huge winter storm later today! Hasn't started. It's so cold in my apartment right now; the cats are huddled for warmth. Toronto does not handle large amounts of snow with grace.

Our snow starts tonight. Expecting 12 inches and another 3-5 tomorrow. I work tomorrow. Which means I have to go sleep at the hospital tonight because it will literally take hours to get there by 7am if I didn't get stuck somewhere and we do not get excused. Sleeping in a loud ass hospital unit on an air mattress so I can wake up and work 12-13 hours and then hopefully will be allowed to leave and make the not awesome drive home that takes me 1.5hrs in good weather. and my first dr appt is Wednesday morning so if I get mandated to stay overnight tomorrow I'll have to cancel. Just fuck.
You ladies having to deal with winter storms stay safe!

My b*fest contribution is to myself and my lost willpower, LOL. I already ate my lunch so I know I'll be scrambling for food when the hungries hit again in about an hour or so. And I reallllly do not feel like braving the supermarket and all its overwhelming smells of prepared food and rotisserie chicken, bletch!
I'm on 24 hour call tomorrow starting at 7am. My commute normally takes 45 min in the morning so I'm staying in a hotel room 2 miles away from the hospital for tonight. The route to and from and hospital from the hotel should be plowed since they're emergency snow routes. Tomorrow night I'm just staying in an extra patient room....don't want to have to come back for an epidural when it's gross out.
My first OB appt is Wednesday like yours but it's in the afternoon so hopefully the roads are much better by then. If they really need me to stay Wednesday morning to help out I can but I will NOT be staying to help for the rest of the day!

Yep, we have snow on the way tomorrow too! Spring is in two weeks, where is my warm weather!? lol
I was determined to clean the whole house today and catch up on laundry. I got finished (mostly) in the kitchen, but then I sat down for lunch. Now I don't want to tackle the mountain of clean laundry that's on my bed! I just want to take a nap!
My Monday B!tchfest - why don't ice cream shops deliver? I could really go for a huge ice cream sundae with sprinkles....and chocolate syrup...and crumbled up oreos....mmmmm.

@natleilynn this doesn't help you any, but DH brought home all the stuff for sundae's last night and it was delicious! I forgot how good just plain homemade vanilla was and hot fudge was.
@MamaBear148 do you have grocery pickup in your area? Some stores (like Walmart) are free. Others like Kroger you get 3 free pickups I believe. I did that with my last pregnancy, and post partum. It was a lifesaver!
@riverraine DD slept in too! I think it was more the fact that it was still dark out, but I'm taking it as a win. Her 5:30am wake ups having been killing me.

My Monday bitchfest is that I'm spending the day in the hospital. I caught a stomach bug and haven't been able to hold down food or water for 36 hours so my OB admitted me for dehydration. Fun stuff. So hungry...so thirsty...ugh

I talked to one of our union reps today (I'm a teacher) about maternity leave. Because I'm a relatively new teacher, I don't have a ton of sick leave accumulated, so if I use all of my sick time for maternity leave, I'll only be able to take five weeks off. I also have the option of taking an additional seven weeks off after that with "differential pay," meaning my daily rate minus the cost of a substitute, which ends up being like $40 in my pocket each day.
I told all this to H and he was like, "Well, we could tag team it... you could take four weeks and then I could take four, and that way you would save a few days of sick time." I don't think he understands that it's not just about child bonding, it's about letting my body recover, learning how to breast feed, and so much more that he doesn't have to deal with. Plus if I have to have a C-section, I'm definitely not going to be ready to go back to work after four weeks (or even five) of trying to care for a newborn while recovering from major surgery.
Just saw some stupid guy say that C-sections are the equivalent of abortions. He said that they are archaic. Oh my God. I'm floored! Not only that, but he has two precious children in his profile picture. How could a father not understand thE difference?!
@VLillyV You know, when presented with an opinion I do deeply TRY to understand the other person's point of view. But for the LIFE of me I cannot fathom HOW this guy could even compare the two. And does he even know what the word archaic means?

TL;DR health care in the United States is a joke.
I'm in the same boat! I've only been working in my current district 2 years so I haven't got a whole bunch saved up even though I hardly ever use it! Luckily my husband is also a state employee so we think he may be able to "donate" sick leave to me to extend my maternity leave. It sucks though.

@megggosaurusrex my husband and my mom are both state employees as well, but they work in a different school district than I do, so they can't donate any time.
