Check in here if you're working on diet/fitness/or any other healthy habit! (I thought I'd get the ball rolling with this, and found any older diet/fitness check-in I cannibalized this from, but if anyone has suggestions for format for future check-ins, please just say the word.)

Re: Healthy Habits Check-in - Week of 3/13
2. It's going okay, this is week two that I've been working on both habits, and finding a time to force myself to floss has been key, but its been working really well doing it in the mornings. I know evenings are probably more ideal, but I figure something is better than nothing. Ideally I'd have one of my strength workouts out of the way for the week already, and I don't, so I definitely need to make that a priority for tomorrow.
3. Met my goal numbers/per week for both habits.
4. Frozen wild blueberries (Wyman brand) with a splash of vanilla almond milk (the sweetened kind, which is why it's only healthy-ish).

Baby #4 on the way!
1. I'm trying to get back into running. Over the summer I was running about 4 miles a few times a week but ***TW*** cut way back when I got pregnant and never started again after my loss ***end TW***
2. Not great this week. I was travelling for work and haven't run yet, but I blocked my calendar for lunch tomorrow so I can go to the gym.
3. Ran a mile in 9 minutes, which isn't great but going in the right direction
4. Healthy eating is not my strong suit at all. Hopefully, you can all inspire me!
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
reduce unnecessary snacking (the actual meals I eat are healthy)
2. How's it going?
not well lol
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
n/a
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
chia squeeze
@cdnrunning I love chia squeezes! How often are you snacking right now? Cutting out snacking was one of my big habit pushes last year, it took me months and a LOT of trial and error, but now I'm down to just my three meals and once in a while an evening snack, but usually not. It was hard, but I love not snacking now, I find I think about food way less.

Baby #4 on the way!
I would love to run but I'm horrible...really horrible. I tried couch to 5k a few years ago and couldn't make it past week two. Anyone have beginner running tips? It's my breathing, my chest burns and I need to stop and walk so often!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Eliminate junk food snacking I can't have chips in the house. I'll eat them all...ALL
I'm also going to attempt yoga-I'm considering this a healthy habit to just calm me down and attempt to chill the F out
2. How's it going? meh I'm great at work but once I get home it's all out the window
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week? I was tracking food on my fitness pal and felt better and noticed a difference in belly bloat. Buuuut then we had a busy weekend and I haven't gotten back on track yet. Tomorrow is a new day
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat? Hummus and bell peppers. I made roasted beet hummus a few weeks ago and it was sodamngood! It was my first time making hummus
Haha you guys. If I run a mile - let's just say it's waaaaaay longer than 9 minutes.
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
I'm doing a combo of Shawn T's Insanity and the 21 Day Fix. Trying to limit my wine intake because there are A LOT of empty calories in there
2. How's it going?
Good! When I started this program for the first time 2 years ago, I lost 15 lbs and really toned up, so I'm hoping to get that going again
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
I've done those hard ass workouts every day this week! I can barely breath and I have cried at least once, but I'm motivated to get back to where I was. If I'm not getting preggo, at least I can get buff.
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
I love an almond butter banana almond milk smoothie. I think I'm going to make one tonight after dinner!
That's how I lost my last 15 lbs of baby weight (ok, ok...it was carb weight bc I was constantly sick and any "fresh" food such as grilled chicken and fruits/veggies made me vomit so I ate chicken cheesesteaks) when other diets just weren't working for me.
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
Working out 5 days a week and getting 20k steps with fit bit
2. How's it going?
It`s hard at times but it feels good to complete a hard workout.
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
I didn`t gain any weight
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
Blueberry honey smoothie
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
Eating low carb and trying to lose the 15 or so pounds I've gained over the last year. I'm also want to add a daily knee strengthening/streching routine to my exercise regime. Lately I've noticed my knee is not happy after a cardio session... I hurt it last summer and since then I get random twinges in it. I want to keep doing cardio (and start running again as the weather gets warmer) but I'm worried about my knee getting hurt again. Any suggestions on routines ladies?
2. How's it going?
I've been on the diet for about 4 weeks now and I've lost around 6 lbs. It was not easy at first cutting out sugar and carbs but I feel so much healthier and have had less cravings since I did it. Started looking around for knee exercises/streches but haven't found a routine I like yet.
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
My co-workers constantly bring in treats to work like donuts and cinnamon rolls. It has been surprisingly easy to avoid them.
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
I've been really loving salted almonds lately. Lol, kind of boring, I know, but they taste so good!
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
Drinking more water everyday, eliminating some unnecessary sugar and adding more protein I don't eat much meat so protein is a challenge at times
2. How's it going?
I started using the water app recommend by one of the ladies here it has been really helpful
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
Last Sunday I made mini frittatas/egg cups in muffin tin with veggies for breakfast this week. It added protein and eliminated sugar from the granola bars I usually eat for breakfast
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
The chobani flip pure yogurt. I was eating the flips with the "fun" add-ins but again more sugar/calories than I really need.
@50Wife I started doing yoga about a year ago. It has really helped me with reducing stress and it has other health benefits too. I've probably lost about 10 lbs doing it, but I've also gained some strength and endurance. I was in the I can't run club too and the yoga has helped with running too.

@TigerCakes I want to get back into running as well. I don't run over the winter and *TW* also cut down a lot on exercise in general when I was KU. GL!
@cdnrunning What do you snack on? I eat every 3 hours usually with smaller meals and snacks in between. However, my snacks are usually fruit or yogurt. Also, what's chia squeeze??
@50Wife I love yoga, but I find the classes vary so much, even the same class with a different instructor! Once I find a class I like, I stick to it. In terms of running, if you're just starting out, I would do walk-run combo. You can go by distance, but time usually works better. For example, run 5 minutes, then walk 5 minutes. It depends on how fit you are on how long your walk breaks need to be and how long you can run for. You can find plans online for free. Also, try to breathe through your nose, not your mouth. It's OK to breathe out your mouth, by definitely not in! It will hurt your lungs, especially when it's cold or windy. OMG roasted beet hummus sounds amazing!
@BreezyBee Great job so far! I'm thinking the same thing "if I'm not pregnant I might as well get buff." I might start a new program.
@Stargazer>lily I'm impressed with your 20k step goal! I'm doing well if I get 10k these days.
@darkrose88 Have you gone to physio? You might need to stretch and strengthen the muscles around your knee. A physiotherapist can assess what's going on and give you exercises to work on at home. Congrats on the weight loss. 6 lbs over 4 weeks is an amazing accomplishment and a healthy rate of loss!
@Avrilmai I love frittatas. So good and healthy. I also found that yoga helps with running, especially because my hamstrings and hip flexers get really tight.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Working out 5x/week. Drinking less caffeine and wine, drinking more water.
2. How's it going? This week, I've been doing well on the working out front. I went to yoga on Sunday, did some weight training yesterday, and I'm playing volleyball today. I'll do 2 more workouts this weekend. I only had 1 glass of wine last night, so that's good. I'm going to cut down on the caffeine once I start approaching O.
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week? I went to yoga again.
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat? One or two squares of 70% Lindt dark chocolate. That counts, right?

@Stargazer_lily OMG 20,000 steps?? You're a MACHINE girl! Nice!
@darkrose88 I love salted almonds! Yuuuum
@Avrilmai Nice job! Every little change helps!
@starla good running advice. I want to build up my cardio strength now!
I'm excited to see this thread! I need lot's of help/motivation/encouragement for healthy habits!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Generally just to "feel better" I guess. I have probably 20 lbs to loose to be at my ideal weight, but I want to focus less on the scale and more on how I feel. Nutrition is the biggest part of this for me!
2. How's it going? Um.... In general I have been getting to the gym more. This week not so much. Nutrition has not been great. BUT I am starting whole30 on Sunday!!
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week? Eating a protein breakfast (almost) every day!
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat? Almond milk (unsweetened), frozen banana, and a little peanut butter blended together. It's one thing that actually satisfies my sweat tooth or ice cream craving!
@KatieEl Flossing is my downfall! I hate it!
@TigerCakes I think a 9 minute mile is great! My current running goals are to get one mile under 9 min and 2 miles in under 20!
@cdnrunning What is chia squeeze?
@50wife I can't have chips in the house. I eat them all. Everytime. It's bad... I need to get back into yoga! I felt so much better when I was doing it regularly!

1. What healthy habit are you working on?
I need to work on eating out less and being more active.
2. How's it going?
Before this week I was doing pretty well with my activity level but this week has been bad mentally/emotionally and I just haven't been able to get myself to work out even though I know it would make me feel better.
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week?
N/A
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat?
I don't really have a lot of healthy treats but I'm looking forward to getting some ideas. When I am eating decently healthy, I'll usually have a 100 calorie bag of kettle corn as my afternoon snack.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Exercising and eating better.
2. How's it going? Pretty good! Could definitely be doing better with the eating though! Need to get back to my clean diet!
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week? Completed my first week of Cize and didn't die!
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat? Frozen banana blended with pb and cocoa powder!

@MrsMiller8588
@KatieEl I'm guilty of snacking when I get home because my H is always snacking and I have no willpower. I really just need to stop that crap now.
We buy chia squeeze by the box at costco, it's a bit pricey but it's a great snack on the go. Essentially it's chia seeds in a flavored liquid. When the seeds are exposed to liquid they expand and are somewhat gelatinous in nature. Anyways....I'm sure the company is going to hire me to their marketing team anytime soon lol. It really is delicious though and lots of omega 3s!
knocked my body pump workout out today, kinda wasn't feeling it, but thought of all you killing it and I'm so glad I powered through!

1. What healthy habit are you working on? My husband and I recently revamped our diets. We eat moderately healthy and don't really eat out very often (unless it's out of necessity because we're not home), but we're terrible snackers!
2. How's it going? Its... going. I'm terrible about water intake since my DD weaned ( @Avrilmai what app were you talking about?), so I need to do better there. I also need to get better about eating breakfast. I always skip it. Tsk tsk!
3. What’s a “small win” you have from last week? We haven't bought any snacks on our last several trips to the grocery store!
4. GTKY: Favorite healthy(ish) treat? I just discovered crumpets and I'm obsessed. Lower in calories than bagels and bread! And I love Siggi's skyr!
