I had to start this because I am the only person at work today. Presumably everyone else isn't coming in or will be late because of the snow. Which would be reasonable EXCEPT I live the farthest away from work, in another damn state, farther north. Which means whatever weather they get at work I get twice as bad where I am...yet I made it to work today...on time. Despite getting 7 more inches of snow than where I work. I call BS.
DH woke me up at 5:15 for a booty call. He laid around playing on his phone after, then made a mad dash for the shower. I shoveled over 9" of snow yesterday, and he's OCD and the weight of snow on all our decks stresses him out. He casually says as he's walking out the door that I have off today, so I'm in charge of shoveling everything. There is another effing 6" of snow on that damn deck, which wraps 80% of the way around our house. The additional 20% are concrete pads. If he had time to wake me up at the crack of dawn for sex, he had plenty of time to shovel. Not happening, buddy.
WTF to the two people Wife and I arranged to take care of snow removal while we're on vacation, but neither showed up! My sister is house/petsitting, so we wanted to be sure she wouldn't have the extra chore of digging herself out to get to work on time. I would be so understanding if either guy let us know they were running behind or if they could no longer help us, and we could have made other arrangements...
@jess0211 I was on time today despite the ice on the road and no one was here to see it. Proud, but what a letdown. If Eliza shows up on time for work on time but no one was there to see it, did it even happen?
My WTF is to that Expecting Better book. I really did not need to read that women without morning sickness are more likely to miscarry. Luckily, though I am BSC, I'm still able to recognize that that is purely correlative and am trying to ignore it.
My WTF is to the bump app actually. I open it, click through, and the first article it gives me at the top of my home page is signs and symptoms of miscarriage. It starts off somewhat reassuring, discussing the overall low chances of miscarriage, then goes into WAY TOO MUCH detail about how many ways things can go wrong

@DuchessOfCambridge girl it's still so early! I know a lot of people who don't have nausea until 8 weeks or later (myself included). That's crazy that the book said that, I've never heard that before.
I have another one, which is going to turn into a "what would you do" scenario. We had decided not to tell anyone at work until 12 weeks. However, I work at an academic institution where we plan by semester, and we are starting to plan into the Fall semester and assessing availability. WTF, it's March! In addition, I am the only person here who does my job which id going to make planning hard. I am having a hard time answering questions about my availability and committing to courses, lectures, reviews etc. for the Fall semester without spilling the beans. I am also being nominated for a committee position which I would not be able to fulfill due to maternity leave. I am starting to feel like I need to let my boss in on the news. But WTF, why is this so hard to keep secret?! And why do we have to start scheduling into the Fall already?! WTF.
@jess0211 maybe just tell your boss? With my first I was still working and had to tell right away (because of one medication I wasn't allowed to administer). I just told my boss and charge nurses and they kept their mouths shut.
@DuchessOfCambridge if I remember correctly, Expecting Better has the same info So I'm totally with you on the BSC, but reminding myself it's really early!
@heatherdubrow I am NOT a morning person. I usually open one eye and grunt answers for 15 minutes. I texted him and lost my little mind over it, so he said he'd take care of it when he got home
Here's my take on pregnancy books: Every pregnancy is different, every child is different, and no written word can tell you exactly what you're going through. Just because someone (even if that someone is a doctor) wrote it does not mean it applies to you. Coffee (and wine later on) has helped me more in the last three years than any book. And my moms group. Oh, without them I have no idea where I'd be.
@heatherdubrow I remember you telling me that about your nausea and it helped me not freak out when I was reading the book! I've said it before and I'll say it again, thank goodness for this group of ladies. @Tourmalily agreed, I read the same thing this morning but stopped halfway through. Worrying more isn't going to help. @LadyMeowMeow@ElizabethSchuyler I'm trying not to take Expecting Better too much to heart. My Dr was 0% concerned about my lack of nausea and it really is just correlative data, she doesn't point to any real reasons lack of nausea would increase the chance of miscarriage. Correlation is not causation. ETA: @jess0211 I hope it all goes well for you, but it stinks you have to turn down a committee position because of it. It's a lot easier for me to hide because even though I'll be out during my busiest part of the year, there's no definitive scheduling that happens. I'm hoping to hold out until after my yearly review if my body lets me hide it that long.
But really though, why does the world mess with us pregnant ladies. It's rude.
My WTF is myself, WHHHYYY am I so hungry?!?! I'm barely pregnant and yet I can't seem to find something that satisfies me. I better control this since my goal is to not gain as much weight this time. Why must food be so glorious and delicious?
My husband came in this morning and said "Honey, you look tired. Are you tired?". Yes. Yes I am. I am growing a freaking human and you kept me up way too late watching tv.
I had an appointment to meet with someone about a new job. I've been wanting to move for awhile and now being pregnant this has obviously complicated things and has me worried and stressing a lot. I barely slept last night thinking about this job chat today - then we got mountains of snow but I drove in horrible conditions to get here because I didn't want to miss this appointment. Anyways.. the guy didn't show! Seriously! I sent an email afterwards saying that things must have gotten confused or something and maybe we could reschedule. No email back yet!!!
I went back to my desk and tried not crying for like an hour. Now I'm like - if he can't keep an appointment or apologize probably not the best boss - but I really wanted to move and quickly before this baby starts showing........ Ughhh........
@DuchessOfCambridge thanks, I am going to see how long I can hold off on scheduling. It's going to get difficult. I wanted to wait until after my annual review but that's not until the end of May so that doesn't seem feasible.
@2Dash that is so unprofessional! I would question if I want to work for someone like that.
@heatherdubrow that was my 2 year old yesterday. Not cool, toddlers. Not cool.

@av2323 Ugh, being told "You look tired" rates high on my pet peeve list. I feel like it's a way to tell someone they look like sh*t under the guise of concern.
@2Dash I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you, especially after all the time you spent worrying about it. Hoping you hear back with some sort of explanation, but there's probably very little that would provide you with anything more than annoyance at this point.
@DuchessOfCambridge, with my first I didn't get any morning sickness until around 8 weeks, and with my second I never got it! . Every woman and every pregnancy really is different! Symptoms have no causal relation to the viability of a pregnancy, just how your body happens to be responding to the hormones. I just thought lack of symptoms meant boy but I was wrong. :-)
@Roliepoliecoley4 my husband does similar things like that to me sometimes. Wakes me up (or keeps me up) for sexy time, lounges in bed on his phone, and then races to the shower with just enough time for work and expects me to take care of anything else. I would leave the snow too!
Apparently I'm a bit put off by chocolate right now. Which is probably better for not adding on pounds before this show even gets started,* since I'm basically eating every hour to feel somewhat decent. But wtf, chocolate brings me a lot of real joy in life.
*eta- on second thought, this sounds weird. I didn't mean that the baby isn't already happening, just referring to the fact that the significant weight gain doesn't happen in the first tri.
Wtf prenatal vitamins. I have to buy the liquid caps due to my previous stomach surgery and there is only one brand that I can find and it's like 28$!!!
WTF to my FIL! He's somehow gone through 2 rolls of toilet paper since Monday night. I had to take the only roll from our master bath to put in the guest bath, also I'm afraid for my plumbing.
@BayCamp that would upset me too. Actually,I have totally given guests the 101 on what they can and can't flush and how much toliet paper is ok for our septic system. Yup I am that person.
@jess0211@BayCamp omg I would be fipping out. My worst nightmare is a plumbing issue with our septic system. Actually that's one of my biggest fears about having a child, too...there are going to be some serious consequences for anybody who wants to "play with the potty" in this house

@Tourmalily yes!!! When my sister was living with us she flushed a tampon...after I told her not to. There was some serious threats about her sleeping outside that night.
@jess0211@Tourmalily whaaaat you guys don't flush tampons?? I have literally never NOT flushed a tampon!
Luckily we have city sewer so I don't have a tank to worry about, but on this note I didn't know until like 2 years ago that they weren't flushable. Really made periods even grosser lol
Haha I live in a managed city apartment building, our toilets are awesome. But I still will never not flush a tampon, way too gross, from vag to bowl it goes. I might be all of your guys' WTF today hahahaha

@jess0211 man! Does that mean you get to go home?
@Roliepoliecoley4 I despise being woken up for anything, so if I rallied and gave it up he would forcsure be shoveling!
