Gender/Anatomy Reveal Ideas

Hi ladies,
Our anatomy scan is in early May, so of course instead of working on this fine Monday morning....I'm thinking of how to share the news with our families.  o:)  We haven't decided if we'll try to also be surprised at the reveal or if we'll find out at the scan.  Anyways, I was hoping for some non-cake reveal ideas.  Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: Gender/Anatomy Reveal Ideas

  • We were surprised as well at ours. My best friend was the only one who knew. She had a big black balloon filled with blue confetti and made confetti poppers. We popped the balloon at the same time that all of our nieces/nephews and friends kids popped the confetti poppers at us.

  • We had the ultrasound tech write a note in an envelope. We picked out a boy and girl onesie that were both the same price and asked the cashier to just ring up and bag the outfit that matched the sex on the note. We waited until we got home to open and recorded it for our families to watch later since they live out of town. It was fun and a great memory to watch back. I think we'll probably do the same thing this time.
  • We will find out at the same time as our family at our reveal. I ordered fireworks (pink and blue) and we will have the ultrasound tech put the results in an envelope like PP suggested. My cousin and brother will be the only ones who know and they will be in charge of setting off the appropriate fireworks. We also have colored confetti poppers that the guests will pop once the fireworks go off so there is no confusion. Sometimes blue fireworks can look really purple so we got those as a backup.
  • A friend did a big box of helium balloons and her older kids got to open it as their final Christmas present. I think they arranged it so that they were surprised too.

  • I'll find out without DH and then either fill a piñata with plain candy or candy with nuts or get helium balloons in a box for him to open. We find out really close to his birthday, hense the theme. With DS we found out together and just told people "hey we're having a boy."
  • My mom is the only person that will know ahead of time. She's going to either wrap up a camo outfit or a pink girly dress. DH and I will open it at a party with our friends and family. Our theme is Rifles or Ruffles, Camo or Pink? I'm so stinkin excited!!

  • We are having a mini cake for DH and I to cut into and cupcakes for our guests to bite into. My bff is making them for us!!

@jmn1985 I've seen really cute gender reveal scratch off cards! Google that and see all the cute options on etsy! There's logistics ordering it if you want it to be a surprise, though.

  • I'm not sure if I am going to do a gender reveal yet. One of my friends shot off a cannon with pink powder and another friend hit a baseball with blue powder inside.

My work wants me to do a gender reveal for them once I find out. So I'm just going to get Krispy Kreme doughnuts filled with pink or blue icing. :)
  • I think we are going to be super low key and have DHs family over for dinner and make one of those pinata cake things where you cut it open and colored candy falls out.

My mom lives very far away so I am hoping to do something for her as well but idk what yet.

I am planning on an Easter egg hunt for my 2 year old and family. For my first pregnancy, I had hostess lookin chocolate cupcakes filled with white icing and only 1 cupcake had pink or blue. I passed them out to family and friends at our party and my mother in law got the lucky cupcake and shouted "it's a boy!". It was a lot of fun.
I love this cupcake idea!!!!!! I so want to do this but I don't have more than three people who would be participating lol!

  • We are doing a box of balloons inside that either says it's a girl or it's a boy. We will be surprised too. For DD we did a king cake with a pink pacifier in it instead of a baby, only the baker knew the gender. If we were having it closer to easter I would do confetti eggs to crack on our heads like at a fair.
  • Last time for my family, we did the balloons in a box thing. The kicker was, it was right around Christmas, and we had told them we wouldn't find out the sex for a few more weeks, so they just through it was a regular present. So the extra element of surprise was pretty fun. I'm really not into big "gender reveals" so we may just do something like the confetti cake someone mentioned with each set of parents without telling them that's what we're doing. I imagine they'll figure it out when blue or pink is inside since they'll know I'm pregnant by then.

  • @DanaG that cupcake idea is so cute!!!

My made her own scratch offs where only one scratch off has all blue underneath and everyone else's was a combination of blue and pink. They made it so my dad got the all blue one!

all our families are far away, but I think I want to make my own confetti poppers and mail them to my parents and sister and do that over FaceTime. DHs parents are coming for Easter and he wants to hide one egg (either a pink or blue one) and have them go searching for it.
