This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (If you've been):
Cycle/CD:
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
How are things going?
Any questions?
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch?
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole, prometrium, ovidrel
How are things going? Good, I guess. I'm not obsessing about POAS and just felt out this cycle before I basically even started much of anything so I think not having my hopes up anymore helps.
Any questions? Nope
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? No. Hockey!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Letrozole, trigger, TI, progesterone - first full medicated cycle
How are things going? I have a mixed bag of feelings. I had my baseline blood work and ultrasound this morning. I'm excited and scared. A little more scared than excited right now. I'm just waiting for the go ahead once my blood work is read to start the letrozole tonight.
Any questions? The nurse said they'll see how I react to the letrozole and add in injectibles if need be later in my cycle. She was in the middle of my ultrasound so I wasn't thinking of questions at the time.. What exactly would an injectible do if the letrozole isn't working for me? I have the trigger shot to induce ovulation already.
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? I'm not a sports fan. I like watching the Olympics though
@TravelingCouple its my understanding that injectables will grow your follicles faster. But unless you're maxed out on the letrozole dose I don't know why they would already be talking about injectables before you've even started. I didn't respond well to my first medicated cycle but my doc just upped the letrozole dose and I responded well.

@TravelingCouple , When she says injectible, she means to stimulate, not trigger. It's gonadotropins (like gonal-f) and they are way more hardcore than femara or clomid. It's what they use in like, IVF, because you want to respond super well. If you don't respond to Femara or Clomid, you should respond to the injectibles.
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI and RPL
Cycle/CD: Cycle 32/CD27/12DPO
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): I did Clomid/Progesterone/TI.
How are things going? Well, BFN this monrning and I'm losing it. I don't know how you guys handle Clomid. I am panicking because I have to do it again. I hate it. It was horrible. HORRIBLE. I don't think I can do it. I could hardly work on it. I kept taking off early and going home to lay in bed. I'm normally a trooper when it comes to be sick, etc, but this was something else. I almost passed out several times because I was just so tired. It's stupid because ya'll handle it like it's no big deal. I don't know how. You guys are champs. I am not.
Any questions? No
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? I hate televised sports, but I love watching in person. So no to the brackets, but I love baseball in particular, but only if it's live.

@KristoKekerooni I'm so sorry for the BFN I'm sorry the Clomid is such a pain too and totally knocking you out. All the appts, blood work, side effects, prodding and poking is hopefully leading us toward a baby in our arms.. That is all that's keeping me going when I think of all the things we're doing this month too. I am rooting so hard for you!
ETA @tamalahoops I think she was just giving me all of the different scenarios. They wouldn't move forward with it without reason.
Diagnosis (If you've been): Unexplained, AMA, factor V

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW though FF and I disagree about DPO, FF says 4 I say 2...
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) on our own but medicated next cycle!
How are things going? meh... would you guys mind giving me a CS? I had a +OPK on CD14 but it did not match up with fertile CM or immideate temp rise. I have a mild temp shift on CD16 (FF gave me CH for this) but on CD18 I had a +OPK and fertile CM though no significant temp shift.... I have had a bit of a cold and have been a mouth breather the last 2 nights so I'm wondering if thats why I have not seen a bigger temp shift... I dunno what do you ladies think? https://https//www.fertilityfriend.com/home/6437bb
Any questions? see above
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? nope... I love the random sports like curling!
@kaitlink33 sorry your feeling out already IF is such a B and it can be so hard to stay positive @TravelingCouple Hooray for starting a medicated cycle. I agree with the other ladies that injectables are usually a last resort and if your initial dose of letrozole does not work they try increasing it first. @KristoKekerooni so sorry for the BFN hugs. Could you try letrozole instead of clomid? most ladies have way less side effects with letrozole. @hartmich thanks for getting this rolling!

@Kaitlink33 I'm sorry you feel like you're out, but I completely understand how that can actually make you feel better. I always used to think I was an optimistic person but with IF I feel like tempering optimism has been the best, mentally. So I know where you're coming from.
@KristoKekerooni I'm so sorry about the BFN! Can you ask to switch to letrozole to avoid the clomid issues?
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI

How are things going? Fine. My colleague who got married last fall told me she just got an IUD, and I have never felt such relief. I think a pregnancy announcement from her would have sent me over the edge.

GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? No. I really don't like watching most sports on TV, except the olympics. I do like live baseball and hockey, though.
@wabash15 That's a tough one. I would think with 4 days of a sustained shift, you could be pretty confident, but the positive OPK on CD18 is throwing me off... I wonder if tomorrow's temp (assuming it gets higher) will cause your CH to shift to CD19 or so... Your BD is outstanding no matter what though!
@KristoKekerooni I'm so sorry about the BFN and that you are having such a tough time with the clomid. What did your dr say when you shared how you responded to it?
@wabash15 I just really want to applaud your killer HIO efforts this cycle. WTG

How are things going? I'm hopeful for this cycle. I don't know why. I've been drinking coffee again and not eating great but I have been more consistent about yoga, acupuncture, and supplements and more relaxed. We shall see in a couple of weeks.

I haven't even seen my effing doctor. The cycle ended up being accidentally unmonitored- meaning they kept canceling last minute and I never got seen. My doctor is awesome, but his staff sucks. He was out on vacation so he wasn't able to set them straight. He was pissed I wasn't monitored.
Anyway, I also just started AF, so yay to that. My LP ended up not changing on progesterone, which sucks because I was hoping it would make my FW line up properly in a week so the IUI can be done, because if it looks like weekend, my doc will cancel it since they aren't open. They way it's looking now, I probably won't get the IUI done. I am so upset today. I'm freaking tired. So tired of this shit.
And it's fucking Monday so it's not like I can go overboard drowning my "Cycle 33 sorrows" in alcohol.
fuck this Monday more than any other Monday.

@KristoKekerooni Oh girl I'm so sorry for that damn BFN. Can you ask to try Femara instead? Having to deal with side effects is basically the last thing any IFer needs. @TravelingCouple Good luck with this cycle! I did end up needing injectables with my Femara and it's no biggie at all. If you have any questions at all this cycle just give a shout out!
So after some confusion with switching insurance companies in July, we have decided to move up our IVF just one month. So I'll start BCPs next month. At first we were considering doing it this month but I'm happy I have a bit longer to mentally/financially prepare.

Cycle/CD: 16/7
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO/NTNP
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) H is on Clomid and Theralogix supplements. BW for first month is supposed to be Wednesday but with the huge snow storm we are supposed to get, I doubt he will still have his appointment.
How are things going? Just riding the IF waves. I have some serious paranoia that everyone I know is going to tell me they are pregnant. I hate it. I hate that I feel that way. I wouldn't answer my best friend's phone call yesterday because I was nervous she was going to tell me she was pregnant.
Any questions? Those of you with MFI, did you Hs feel differently when taking clomid? I keep asking MH and he says no. I feel like he should be feeling more hormonal or something!
GTKY: I'm obsessed when the Olympics are on, but other than that, I don't have to watch sports.
@KristoKekerooni Aw girl, I am so sorry it's such a rough day. IF MFin' sucks. Real bad. That sucks even worse that your office can't be accommodating. I since you can't get a good drunk on today, try to do something else that is just for you that you really love. You're worth it!

How are things going? I feel like garbage. I'm starting to feel discouraged. I have to keep reminding myself that for the past 23 months we have not been able to make an embryo. But we've conquered that hurdle and we have an embryo now. Its more likely that it will stick than it won't. But I'm still overcome with immense anxiety over the though of it not working.
Any questions? Those doing acupuncture and therapy, which do you feel like is helping more?

@antoto I'm glad your able to move your IVF up a month. Fx all goes well @KristoKekerooni sorry for CD1 and that your having such a rough IUI road. Its unusual that your clinic won't do the IUI on the weekend. Most won't do IUI US on the weekend but will do the IUI itself. its crazy that they cut out 2 days a week because everyone cycles differently. Well maybe if worse comes to worse it can be a TI cycle... @JuneRoseRuby i'm sorry your having such anxiety about BFPs. I expected to feel more relief and excitement at starting a medicated cycle but I haven't stopped crying since we got home. I am really not doing well guys..I feel so depressed. It feels so surreal and of course I kept thinking every month we'd get pregnant before we got to this point. I feel so angry and I hate it. I'm not this person. I'm calling my insurance now to find a therapist.
Oh @KristoKekerooni I'm so sorry it's all so shitty right now. IF sucks so hard, and is so fucking exhausting. I wish I could think of anything to say to make you feel better, but all I can come up with is that you aren't alone, and I'm thinking about you. Creepiest of internet hugs to you.
@wabash15 I, too, clap my flippers (that gif is hilarious) at your dedication to doing the dirty deed. Also, I agree with you that with your other signs, it's looking like you might be 2 DPO. Hopefully tomorrow things will be more clear!
@laurad75 Yay! So excited for your next round...FX so hard!!
What are you doing this cycle: All the supplements and herbs, eliminating lots of toxins, still listening to "It Starts with the Egg," abusing my credit card privileges on Amazon to try even more supplements for next cycle (Myo Inositol because while I don't have PCOS, I am insulin resistant since I have Type II Diabetes, and DHEA, although I'm still nervous to try it), supplementing with progesterone, boning.
How are things going: The last two cycles I had 12 day LPs, and my ovulation this cycle was on CD16, which is where it was before my cycle deteriorated, so my acupuncturist and I have made some progress. We had good timing this month, too, so I know I've done about all I can. I started off the cycle optimistic, but my temps have been awfully low for post-O, so I'm starting to feel concerned.
Any questions: Nope.
GTKY: I like watching sports occasionally, but definitely prefer going to a game. I won't choose to put a game on TV myself, nor do I participate in MM brackets. But I will watch basketball or football with OH. I especially like the NFL Red Zone channel since it covers all the games at their most exciting point.

@travelingcouple I'm so glad you've decided to find a therapist. It's okay to feel like you need help navigating through all these shitty feelings. I really hope that it helps you and you find an outlet. You're doing the right thing by taking care of yourself.
@wabash15 - Yeah, it's because it's just a regular OB. I live in the middle of nowhere. the closest RE is five hours away and I didn't want to juggle that with "just" an IUI. Now I am questioning it.
@TravelingCouple - Good for you. I hope the therapist helps. I wish I could hug you, a big part is because I'm right there with you. I haven't stopped crying today and I am effing devastated. I hope your upcoming medicated cycle is the end of the line with TTC for you and you walk away with a baby. Hugs, friend.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, but I'm glad that you're going to talk to someone. I really hope it helps.

@KristoKekerooni So sorry about AF. It's so frustrating. We're here for you.
@JuneRoseRuby I feel the exact same. I hid my friends posts on FB so I won't see her pregnancy updates anymore. Anytime someone says to me "I have something to tell you" I automatically think it's that and my stomach drops. My co-worker said "I have some exciting news" and I could feel my eyes starting to sting with tears but then she told me she got a new job....it's pretty ridiculous. Also my SIL got KU on her first try last year and already said she hopes to be KU with #2 by the time he's 1....I'm dreading dreading dreading that annoucement. It's so terrible.
Me: 27 // DH: 30 Married 05/21/2011 TTC Since Feb 2016 RE: Dec 2016 Dx: PCOS 5 rounds of Letrozole 5mg + Ovidrel + TI BFP!!!! June 2017 // EDD: 04/01/2018 IT'S A BOY!
@juneroseruby@vintageandrea90 I totally feel you guys on the dread of friends telling us they're KU. I have a couple friends who would likely be trying now/soon and every time I get together, I'm like a hawk to see if they're drinking, etc. I've turned into a crazy person!
@TravelingCouple You're doing the right thing by seeking out someone to speak with. I had found a therapist who specialized in IF, unfortunately she didn't end up taking my insurance. I stubbornly put off finding a new person, and then we lost our insurance. So learn from my mistakes lol, go talk to someone! It will help immensely.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
Natural cycle. Waiting to ovulate. OPK's, temping, lots of pills going down my throat every morning. HIO.
How are things going? We had to make the tough decision to push off IVF until June now, despite our insurance kicking in next month. Some family stuff is going on, and I will be traveling at the end of May. It's not plausible to be traveling and stimming for IVF. My office doesn't do a few weeks of BCP's either, unless I was anovulatory. So it's not like we can start that process while I travel. I'm at peace with the decision, still sucks though.
Any questions?
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? Nope!
Thank you so much ladies, I wish I could hug you all for all of the BS everyone is dealing with in this process. My DH came home to WFH for the rest of the day. He said he could tell in my texts that I wasn't myself. I could just cry over how much I love him right now.
@TravelingCouple so many hugs for you today That first medicated cycle is a total mind fuck. I don't know if they will be available where you live, but perhaps look into getting a therapist who specializes in infertility? Or women, specifically?
@hartmich So I decided to do the genetic testing on the embryos because during our IUI cycles I would produce like 5 eggs, but then... obviously... I didn't get KU. There can be a lot of variable in this, so I decided to eliminate as many as possible. Maybe the sperm couldn't penetrate the egg? So we are doing ICSI. Maybe something is happening on a genetic level we don't know about? So we are doing PGS. I just realllly wanted to eliminate as many different variables as possible. It's wildly expensive, but H and I decided that for our situation we wanted to pursue it.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Repeat testing (bloodwork & SA), enough supplements that I needed a second pill case this month, Metformin, hopefully TI if this cycle isn't AO.
How are things going? I have honestly nothing happening right now thanks to wait times between appointments. After the cycle from hell last cycle (my estrogen was through the roof and the symptoms were miserable), I'm just really feeling impatient/defeatist about everything. DH has always had a "wait and see/if it happens, it happens" approach to TTC and now with the wheels in motion with our doctors and topics like IVF on the horizon, he is kind of realizing that our time to "wait and see" is up and this is pretty much where the last two years have led us. The reality of it is stressful and hitting at the same time that we are looking to buy a house for the first time, so there is obviously a financial aspect of it that can be burdensome to really talk about. I realize the discussion of how much money we should set aside for potential IF needs vs. the type/size of home loan we should get is a privileged dilemma to have, but it's hard when we aren't 100% on the same page about it.
Any questions?
GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? I don't follow basketball really aside from the NBA finals each year. I love baseball if it's live. As far as football goes, DH and I are Dolphins fans and I also like the Redskins.
@KristoKekerooni so sorry for the BFN and AF, lady. Also about the Clomid. Everyone's body reacts to these things SO differently so please don't think less of yourself for something so ultimately out of your control. Maybe if you are getting more monitoring this time around the doctors can advise you on how to best cope with the symptoms. You're as much of a champ as the rest of us, I promise you!
@Bababatty I'm relieved for you with the IUD announcement. I wish more people would tell me news like that instead of brazenly telling me they are starting to TTC when I haven't asked. I'd talk BC with my coworkers over babies any day.
@wabash15 I agree with @hartmich that I'd wait for another day of high temps to see what happens. Also that either way, your timing is on point.
@TravelingCouple Good for you for finding a therapist. I can relate to the feeling of "I'm not this person" big time. I'm sorry for all of the emotions you are grappling with today and in general. Sending so much your way.
@hartmich exactly. I just can't shut it off. H thinks I need to talk to someone about it, but I feel like I have my emotions mostly under control and I feel like I am managing IF well considering our terrible situation and poor chances of ever getting KTFU, but this is the one thing that I can't manage. I was reading in my Conquering Infertility book that some women think they are okay, but actually are depressed, so it makes me second guess myself and wonder if I really am
@TravelingCouple I think a therapist would be a great idea. I have been thinking about you and I know things have been mentally really hard for you lately. You'll want to be in good mental shape for this damn roller coaster called IF. What a great H you have to come home from work.

@KristoKekerooni I'm so sorry that now it's CD1 and that B AF didn't even have the courtesy to show on a day you could get drunk. I'm also sorry for all the trouble you're having with your OBs office and the IUI. Do you think if your follies are sufficiently large, it would be possible to trigger early if you risk running into the weekend? Or I second the question about the possibility of doing the IUI with your RE? I know you've talked about that before and I can't remember your answer. Anyway, lots of creepy internet hugs to you and I hope your FW manages to align itself properly with the work week.

We are doing unmedicated cycle & will do another stim cycle either April or May depending on timing.
How are things going? Good! I don't know if I updated last week but I had 2 embryos make it to day 5; they were biopsied and frozen so I'm waiting on the PGS results. This first AF after ER really sucks though

GTKY: March Madness inspired - do you participate in March Madness brackets? If not, do you have a favorite sport to watch? Yes I'm in 3 bracket challenges but I'll be honest and say I didn't watch much college bball this season. My favorite sports to watch are football and professionally baseball!
So apparently they are checking follicles next Friday and plan to trigger and do IUI same day, if it's ready. Fingers crossed it is?
I am considering switching back to the RE. The reason we didn't was because she's five hours away and only does IUIs with injectibles, which was pricey, when you add that to the cost of all the travel (because she will do some, but not all monitoring down here- as in only the baseline down here)But now our insurance covers IUIs, so the cost would come down a lot and we would just have all the travel to worry about. I think we will do this upcoming IUI, maybe one or two more, then switch. Summers are easier to travel.

@TravelingCouple Hooray for starting a medicated cycle. I agree with the other ladies that injectables are usually a last resort and if your initial dose of letrozole does not work they try increasing it first.
@KristoKekerooni so sorry for the BFN hugs. Could you try letrozole instead of clomid? most ladies have way less side effects with letrozole.

@KristoKekerooni sorry for CD1 and that your having such a rough IUI road. Its unusual that your clinic won't do the IUI on the weekend. Most won't do IUI US on the weekend but will do the IUI itself. its crazy that they cut out 2 days a week because everyone cycles differently. Well maybe if worse comes to worse it can be a TI cycle...

Diagnosis: DOR, AMA
Cycle/CD: 17 (11 AL)/23
Status: TWW

@Aurora1973 - Thanks. I will get over it. I always do. I just hate seeing the numbers get biggger and bigger.

@antoto I'm so excited for you on moving up your IVF!

@TravelingCouple I think a therapist would be a great idea. I have been thinking about you and I know things have been mentally really hard for you lately. You'll want to be in good mental shape for this damn roller coaster called IF. What a great H you have to come home from work.

Yes I'm in 3 bracket challenges but I'll be honest and say I didn't watch much college bball this season. My favorite sports to watch are football and professionally baseball!
