Any pregnant ladies with chronic hypertension?!

Hi ladies!  I'm new on this message board and was wondering if anyone else has had hypertension prior to pregnancy?  I'm 11 weeks and on 100mg Labetalol and have to check my BP every morning... OH and I'm kind of a nervous gal, working in the NICU and Labor and Delivery, I've seen too much associated with hypertension during pregnancy.

Re: Any pregnant ladies with chronic hypertension?!

  • I'm with you!  I've taken medicine for it for about 6 years. My doctor switched me to Methyldopa in the Fall when we started TTC. I also take baby aspirin daily, to reduce the risk of preeclampsia.
My mom and little brother have high blood pressure too, so it's in my family.

I am with you guys too. Hbp is also in my family. I take 60mg nifedipine along with the baby aspirin everyday for hbp. I had to start taking meds after my last pregnancy where I developed preeclampsia. I also take my bp at home everyday and track it closely. In a doctor's office it is really high b/c I have white coat. I have done baseline bloodwork and a 24 hour urine catch early in this pregnancy already.
