This is my last "off-week" at the ob, but I have a prenatal massage Friday! I'm so excited--my first professional massage ever. So thrilled to be mostly naked for a stranger. And I think this week will be a good one for it. Everything hurts and I'll be nesting a lot.
I have my 33.5 week appointment this Thursday, and taking DS for his 18 month wellness check this Wednesday. It's spring break for the kids here so we're going to go strawberry picking.
@HGRich your first ever professional massage?! Hopefully is amazing. I just had one and it was wonderful! Prenatal massages should be covered by insurance lol
I have an NST on Tuesday and one on Friday. Even though I was told that if they come back normal, I wouldn't have to go to them every other day until my delivery date, I've been scheduled until I am past due
Regular OB appointment tomorrow at 35+5...all the usual stuff plus GBS test and hospital paperwork. Then I'm only weekly appointments for the next three weeks before my RCS date...eek!
@taylor72 yes! I've just never prioritized it. I've rarely had professional manicures or pedicures either. A few, but not many. I'm excited to be pampered.
Tuesday I have bloodwork and hematologist appointment (for low platelets).. Thursday I have weekly Obgyn followed by weekly Endocrinologist (diabetes)
@KirstinH88 I just got switched to every other week between 36 and 38 weeks. Its weird because nearly everyone seems to more frequent appts sooner than that!
This week all all I have is the osteopath. Also hoping to book a pedicure!
38 weeks OB appointment tomorrow afternoon and growth scan on Tuesday morning, but we are expecting a foot of snow that day so I'm not expecting to make it!
Have my 36 week appointment tomorrow. I have heard that its weekly appointments until delivery. Don't think its too long. Anyone at 35+ weeks feel increased pelvic pressure? C.
@chic_lit I'm 37 weeks and have been feeling the pelvic pressure since at least 35, sometimes I feel like I'm splitting apart (in a non painful way?). Appointment tomorrow at 37+1! This starts my weekly appointments. I get my GBS test and ultrasound to see how the baby is positioned. Really hoping it's not breech, but if it is I'm demanding my c section be scheduled for next week because of my company's goofy fiscal year. I need to have my FMLA and PTO used by June 1 or I lose it. A lot riding on tomorrow's appt. I'm also going to ask to be induced by April 5 if I reach my due date and no baby yet for the same reason.
Ultrasound and OB visit on Wednesday at 37 weeks. Then hopefully pedicure on Saturday! Similar to @HGRich I *maybe* get a mani or pedi 1-2x year, so I'm looking forward to it. Although the friend I'm going with told me yesterday told me that there are pressure points on the feet that can induce labor.....
Just had my 36w appointment (36+1) GBS..which wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be...lots of labs bc my BP is elevated again and an internal check, not dilated at all. Now I start weekly appointments.
Just had my NST - baby passed but I got scolded for losing a pound. I basically was like well.. when you can't eat carbs or super fried foods - you eat healthy stuff and don't really gain weight? At least that's my reasoning! Weekly ultrasound is thursday like normal - hoping she'll have time to do measurements again this week. I'm curious to see what they estimate her at (even though it's just an estimate at that).
Weekly appointment tomorrow morning (37 weeks). She didn't check my cervix last time so I am going to ask when they start doing that. My practice also doesn't do growth ultrasounds unless there is a reason to but I hate not knowing a size estimate - even if its off, I just want an estimate of how big he's going to be.
Oh also the GBS test last week was such a breeze...I was expecting pap-smear level discomfort but it was just a tiny swab. Honestly I barely even felt it. She finished and I was like oh, that's it? Why does everyone make a big deal out of this? And it came back negative which is good, one less thing to worry about.

Mine with DS was also a breeze. I don't get the fuss in general other than people have to take their pants off. Also, paps have never been a big deal for me either, so ??? Who knows.
@kitkat8387 & @KirstinH88 I completely agree! wasn't a big deal at all. I had several people tell me that the GBS swab was like all the way up your butt LOL and that it was super uncomfortable. But I barely even felt it and it was seriously no big deal. Wish I would have known that because I have been dreading it since like week 10 when I found out it was a thing.
@KirstinH88 I personally HATE paps but I think it's more because of the speculum than the actual swab or whatever they do in there. That metal thing just freaks me out. I had a similar reaction when they showed us the forceps in my childbirth class...I was like I REALLY hope those don't have to go anywhere near my lady parts
Yeah my GBS was no big deal at all and took like a second. I'm with you @KirstinH88, paps have never bothered me. Once in awhile afterward I get a little crampy but the actual check is nbd.
Nice, boring checkup for me today at 36+1. Heartbeat, BP, measurement, and weight all fine. I am also GBS negative. DD got to help again with listening to the baby's heartbeat, which was really cute.
Sibling class for DD and a hospital tour on Wednesday! Hopefully the snow coming won't affect those plans.
My midwife came to my house today for my 36+4 checkup. Normal stuff, GBS swab (this is my second so I knew what to expect, but it's nice that this swab is pretty mercifully external and quick), making sure the birth kit is complete, plus filling out birth certificate paperwork. No internal exams for me until probably labor. This baby is definitely larger than my last. I'm curious what his stats will be. My midwife asked me when I thought he would arrive and I replied I thought maybe a week early. She seemed to think that was a good guess.
I also have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow and an ultrasound on Thursday to check baby position one last time. He seems to be behaving and hasn't moved from head down since the 20 week scan, as far as I can tell. I've decided I'm probably not encapsulating my placenta but may save it in the freezer in case I run into breastfeeding woes and want to try it. I'm not really interested in it for any other reason.
Next week's appointment will be at her regular office, so DS will be thrilled to get a balloon again!
Had my 38 week appointment at 430 this afternoon and am feeling a lot of cramping and heaviness now. BP, pee check, heart beat all fine, but I'm 3cm, 70% effaced, and the dr described things as "very ripe" (barf). The OB also told me I won't be seeing my next weekly appointment and at the end was like, "Goodbye for now, although I am on call tomorrow at the hospital during the snowstorm so I may be seeing you again real soon." Interesting. Trying not to totally freak out, I've had two babes come before their due date and two come after, but I'm definitely not trying to have this baby in the middle of a nor'easter. At least my husband decided not to go away to his conference for the night! Secretly really hoping things stay calm till St. Pat's Day

@aboxofchocolates I know there's no guarantees, but OB seemed pretty confident based on my history and the difference between my last appointment and this one that labor was to be expected pretty soon. I guess we shall see! I was 3cm/70% when I went to the hospital a week early to deliver DS #4 two years ago and then you know what they say about storms bringing on the contractions! I truly hope I don't have the baby for a couple more days tho - we didn't get the foot of snow they were calling for, but there's around 4-5 inches on the ground and it's still coming down = gross. Plus all my kids are off school and acting like total hooligans!
My 36 week appointment was rescheduled for Thursday due to the Blizzard Stella. I'm not sure I can make it so I may skip it and wait for my 37 week on Monday. They're going to check me so I curious to see if anything is going on. I also need my strep B test.
We're so close ladies! I can't wait to see more announcements!
@MWoodside that's interesting, my practice and everything I've read says any baby 37-41 weeks is considered full term.
Today at my appointment they told me I'm all set, no breech, and if I don't go by my due date they recommend no later induction than the following week. Pumped to finally meet this wild thing! But I agree with @Dannylion24, it needs to stay put right now. We got 12" of snow today.
@kitkat8387 and @KirstinH88 I was pretty much a nervous wreck when it came to thinking about cervical checks and the GBS, really because I have never had them before and didn't know what to expect. Paps have never bothered me. I have never bled after or cramped. When I went to the hospital they did a cervical check which was only a tad uncomfortable. They did my GBS then as well, but I SWEAR the Dr. only swabbed my vagina. I'm pretty sure I would know if something went in the back door! Is it possible to check without the anal part?
