Fetal development/Stupid question?

I am watching the PBS documentary "9 months that made you" and it's so interesting! It talks about a lot of different genetic variations and things. Watching all the amazing CGI animation of a growing baby led me to an odd question. When do babies show difference in skin color in the womb? I'm genuinely curious because even images of older fetuses, close to birth, they always seem to be a fair complexion. I tried to google it but only came across posts like "what to eat/drink to have a ____ color baby". Ugh. Anyway, like I said I am genuinely curious and am glued to this documentary now haha!

    Hmm... I can't say for sure. But, I know several people that have dark skinned babies (African American, Hispanic...) and they were very light when they were born.

    @kristanoah I just watched that documentary. Pretty interesting. They talk about skin color in the second one I think.

    Yep! Just watched that episode! Apparently it's week 13! Haha guess I was just premature in my question!

    I don't know the answer to your question specifically but I do know that your melatonin comes in as you get older this is also why a lot of babies are born with blue eyes that will then turn brown or blonder babies will later turn brunette.
