Hi all, I'm new here on this site. My hubby and I have been married just over 6 months, but have been together almost 8 years. We have been TTC since July 2016 (8 mths) and I have recently found out I have PCOS. I had been on the pill for about 7 years so had no idea I had PCOS until I stopped taking it and was having vastly irregular cycles. It has been a stressful, emotional time for us (as I'm sure all of you understand!), especially because we waiting so long to try initially. I am currently on CD 74, and feeling constantly angry and frustrated with my body. My doctor has started me on Metformin, I have just started to take my BBT each day, and I am (very impatiently) waiting for my first appointment with the fertility specialist so we can throw everything possible at this.
I am hoping this will be a good space for me to get support and be able to vent my frustrations, and in turn give support to other women in the same boat

Welcome! OMG @Tops- a 74 day cycle? That's awful!! Ugh. I'm sorry to hear you are frustrated with your body. I think it's good you're going to see a specialist and want to throw everything at this- a 74 day+ cycle would be agonizing. I hope you settle on a good treatment plan soon and that you find support here!
Hello and welcome! Sorry to hear about the PCOS but know you are not alone as PCOS is one of the most common causes of T-TTC! If you're at Day 74 I would seriously ask your doctor for a prescription for provera to jump start your period. It isn't good to have so many days between cycles! Hopefully you also get to see the fertility specialist soon.
Married since 2011 TTC since Oct 2014 DOR + MFI 3 failed IUIs; IVF August 2017
Thanks both of you Day 75 now @seethosestars Thanks for the advice. I practically begged my doctor last week and she said there is nothing further she can do other than the Metformin (which I knew was not true). Felt like I was banging my head against a wall...

Hello and welcome @Tops. I'm sorry you are having trouble. Long cycles are so frustrating!
Just my two cents, but if I were you I would consider looking for a different doctor if that is an option for you. (I know sometimes there aren't many in some areas and also insurance concerns). One of the reasons I love my OBGYN so much is that she listens to me and supports me the best she can. She hears my concerns and when our TTTC issues moved past the point of what she could help us with she recognized it and referred us to a specialist. My point is, nobody needs a doctor who doesn't have their best interest in mind. This process is frustrating and emotional enough without having a doctor that makes you feel like you want to bang your head against a wall. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to see the fertility specialist, and when you do I hope he/she can address your concerns better than your current doctor!
@Kim41313 Thanks for the advice. I have seriously been considering finding another doctor. Insurance isn't an issue here (I'm actually in Australia), but it's hard to find someone to trust.

Welcome. I am sorry you have to be here but glad you found us. I am sorry for your crazy long cycle I can understand how frustrating that could be. I hope the time to your fertility appointment goes by quick....that always seems to be the hardest part, the waiting game.
@Tops it is definitely hard to find someone you trust! I encourage you to advocate for yourself, even if that means "doctor shopping" until you are comfortable! I have been to doctors before and never gone back because I didn't like the way they spoke to me (I won't get into it - but basically opinionated and condescending). I hope it works out for you- either your doc gets it together and you don't have any more issues moving forward or you find someone else that you feel you can trust more
@Tops - My longest was 49, I can't imagine having to go 75+!
I'm glad you're seeing a specialist that will hopefully aggressively get a diagnosis for you.
I totally feel your frustration. H and I were together for 9 years actively trying NOT to conceive beforehand and now that it's been a struggle it's like "Oh, well what was the point back then?"
I agree that if you're not getting the results or action you want out of your doctor and you don't trust your opinion that you should look elsewhere. I was getting tired of my OBGyn (and her office in general) not taking me seriously so I opted to find and see a fertility specialist instead. So far I love her and her whole staff and I feel like we're finally moving forward. I'll consider giving the Ob another shot once we're pregnant, but in the meantime my IF issues are all going to the RE.
Thank you everyone It's so wonderful to be in a community of such supportive people. I'm on CD 79 now and still nothing, but I'm seeing a new doctor on Saturday so fingers crossed for some positive steps forward!
