  • @bluejeanbabi05 seriously - it's crazy, especially if you are in bigger market. Not sure what i'm going to do with 2 kids! I really enjoy working but not sure if it will make sense. I have found that in-home daycares (in my area, San Diego) are a bit less expensive.
  • One of my older, old school coworkers asked me who invented womens day anyway... so I looked at him and said... probably a woman. Musta been the tone because he ran away.

And started congratulating everyone woman in the office.

    yah.

@bluejeanbabi05 I agree. I am considerably lucky because of my circumstances, I will not have to pay for childcare, but otherwise, I would not be able to afford to have a baby. It's astonishingly expensive, and mind you, they get quite ill in the childcare settings which means more doctors visits, which means more meds and copays.

  • @bluejeanbabi05 I have the opposite issue (well, sort of). As much as I like my job, I would love to be a SAHM, but I can't because of the cost of health care. My coverage is a lot better and less expensive than H's, so it would be way cheaper for me to keep my job and put the baby on my insurance, but this also means we'll have to pay for child care.
  • My WTF Wednesday - men asking when international men's day is "or is is sexist to ask?"

swift kick to the tiny ego in the pants to the next man who asks.

sometimes I feel like a terrible person for trying to bring a child into this world. Then I think I could have the next Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Emma Watson and feel slightly better about it.

  • @tyannejohn I've had the same thing happen! My MIL right away asked what we have for the baby.  It's our first, so nothing.  I've been pregnant for like 6 seconds so let's just slow your roll.  I know she's probably just excited but still!  Of course, this is also a woman who is known to make large purchases (i.e., I chose a crib for you...here it is) for others without even consulting them first.

WTF to my damn internet today.  I can't get anything done without it.

  • @laeberge3 Right?! I'm like lets find out what the gender is before we go crazy. I've been doing research on bottles, pack n plays, and travel systems but I don't have anything picked out for sure. Like let me be pregnant and enjoy it before I start stressing about what I want to buy! lol
  • What I want to say so often but just bite my tongue because I know it won't matter.

  • My WTF is that my office is the "party office". We always have people coming in and out. I can't get any work done with all the interruptions!
  • WTF to my DH who refuses to vaccuum but is sitting there playing computer games. Hand me the knives.

  • My wtf, especially on international women's day today, is that many women who *want to* return to work after having a baby here in the US can't because of the price of childcare. I hate hate hate that.
It's insane. I live in Canada so I am very lucky to have a onenyer maternity leave but we are still so far behind so many European countries that have fully paid at leave for up to two years! Socialist ideals that value family and known that happy moms make happy employees, happy husbands and happy balanced children for our future. The US is one of the worst in the world. But childcare is so expensive here too it's a major issue for so many families.it would have been half my salary for one child had I gone back to work after my son. I stayed at home because to me that's not worth it just to pay someone else to nurture, feed and educate my child all day.
  • Wtf DH. Why did you make fish and stink up the whole house. It's not like I had dinner made or anything.
  • @vvilla3 international men's day is Nov.19

My WTF... Customer has basically had me draw three plans already and he thinks of himself as a designer because he designed and built his last house himself. The house he built is ugly the ones I've drawn for him are ugly, and I told him that I would come up with a plan suggestion too so maybe it would be a different option that gives them everything they want and he basically dismissed what I said, felt a lot like a pat on the head, you're such a cute young girl but we know what we want kind of dismissal. I felt like saying I may be only 34 but I've been designing houses since I was 16 and messing with them since I was 13. I know what I am doing. Grrrr.... And then because the meeting ran so late I didn't get any dinner yet and now I don't even want to eat because nothing I have at home sounds good.
