First Sickness

So my 14 month old was fussy last night I figured she was just tired well we were standing at the back door telling her daddy bye for work and she just let it rip. Vomited all over the whole kitchen few times vomited all over the whole bathroom, little in the dining room and then I stayed up all night with her in the living room on blankets and towels with her throwing up all night long called pedi this morning says we have to just ride it out this sucks she can't even hold down water this is the worst thing as a mom having to watch your child go through this. Praying this goes quickly and then we can throughly clean and sanitize the whole house. Also stinks her dad works nights so that makes I rough I will probably be pulling an all nighter again tonight with probably no sleep today so her daddy can get rest for work tonight especially since he has to go in early. Good thing no fever and no diaherra just vomiting but so tough cause I don't want her dehydrated.

Oh no we had this exactly same sickness/scenario a couple of weeks ago! My husband was working overnight and everything and all it was awful. The throwing up only lasted about 24 hours maybe even a little less so hopefully it will pass for you just as quickly! The diarrhea and poor appetite seemed to last another couple days after that but after the initial night being up all night sick he slept ok the next night surprisingly so hopefully your little one will do the same thing because it's so exhausting! Just keep offering liquids and as long as she's having wet diapers try not to worry! If she's having output then she is hydrated enough! It's soooo hard seeing them sick like that :( one tip that my mom gave me was to keep a soft bib on baby and when they're getting sick lean them forward and kind catch some of it with the bib as best you can. I didn't try it since I didn't talk to her till after it stopped but sounds helpful and like it could cut down on the mess some! My husband and I both got it in the following days so take care of yourself too!

  • As of 9 am she has been able to keep liquids down. No second wet diaper yet just two poopy ones with some firm nuggets in them. She just had her first bottle about 10 mins ago she was getting pretty hangry so far so good on keeping that down. She's had water pedialyte and a popsicle so hoping to see some pee diapers here soon. I've mopped multiple times and lysoled everything down doing all the throw up laundry right now really hoping it does not spread to her dad or I. She seems to be on the upswing now so hoping it stays that way as the day/night progresses.

I'm glad to hear she seems to be doing better!!! I hope she has a good night tonight so you can get some rest!
  • So glad she's feeling better.  We've had to deal with it twice now.  Its awful.  The first time it happened, he threw up all over me.  I even found vomit inside my bra and underwear.  It was so gross.  Shockingly, I managed not to catch it.  Hope you manage the same!

We had our first stomach thing around 9 months but I think something she ate didn't agree vs a virus since it was over quick. She threw up 3 or 4 times. I ended up sleeping on the floor next to her crib w a bunch of towels and receiving blankets so I would wake up when she started to gag and did what @kaym6 suggested, catch it with a towel.  It was a rough few hours and I can't imagine how hard having a full blow stomach bug must be!!! Glad your LO is feeling better!
  • Well she threw up again this morning around 7:30 am her and I had puke in places it should never be. She seems to be doing ok since then she's signed for milk I've given her just a little but I think she will end up bringing it back up. Her last bottle was at 2:30-3:00 am and then she woke up at 7 and threw up at 7:30 so we will see. This momma is exhausted he hubby has been mandated in to work early last few days or mandated to stay over later than normal so he is so tired he's passed out on the floor in the living room trying to lay with her this morning. I am so tired as well just found out I'm pregnant two days ago so I feel like the tired symptom I usually get at beginning of pregnancy is starting to set in on top of staying up all night the other night when she as sick all night long. I also slept in her room last night on an air mattress to watch her and that was not great sleep ended up waking up at 2:30 am with the mattress pretty much deflated so I went off to bed in the master bedroom across the hall but then she woke up so had to get up with her for awhile. Let's pray this ends soon and she goes back to her normal happy self because I am exhausted already.
