Our littles came out doing pretty well for their age (32w1d) yesterday but the bigger one (Miss Claire) eventually needed more respiratory support. She went from requiring CPAP (a little extra positive pressure to keep the airways open) to needing NIPPV (actually on the ventilator but not yet needing a breathing tube) to requiring intubation (breathing tube and all). That was around 5 pm last night. She got surfactant to help her tiny airways pop open after a chest x-ray showed "haziness" (fluid of some kind somewhere that made it harder for her to breathe). Thankfully, she was extubated about 12 hours later (longer than expected but still great news!) and throughout the day today was weaned back to CPAP and is now just getting a little forward air flow through a nasal cannula (what most people use when they need oxygen) - she's technically on "room air" too, meaning not requiring extra oxygen.
Owen has been the (somewhat) surprising rockstar in the last 24 hours. He needed nothing more than CPAP since birth and was weaned like Claire to nasal cannula late this afternoon.
In other body systems they are both doing pretty well. Antibiotics should hopefully be discontinued by 48 hours. They've gotten ~12 mL each of colostrum and are now on little amounts of donor milk every 3 hours. Will be in isolettes until they can maintain their body temp (both need to gain some weight first).
PM me for a separate page that I'll update more frequently. No hard feelings if you don't.

Oh my goodness, congratulations again! Thank you for sharing your story so far. They are so darn precious. Sending continued good vibes your way for speedy recoveries for all.
They look adorable! So glad your already getting to do skin to skin with them and that Claire's breathing issues have stabilized. Keep up the good work babies!
