Re: Weekend Ticker Change: March 4 & 5

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 37 weeks- early term what whaaaat! Just three more weeks! Or anytime in the next 20 days really.

How big is baby/milestones? The size of a striped skunk, a ukulele, or a bunch of Romaine lettuce. Feeling bigger than I ever have with either pregnancy and definitely feeling a lot of movement and pressure way down low, almost feels like one of her hands is trying to poke out of my bits! Not sure if that's just muscle twitches or she is really low. I can feel her feet high up and her head down low so I cannot imagine how much more room she'll have for much longer!

Upcoming appointments this week? Got one on Tuesday!

Any new symptoms or changes? Return of morning sickness, big ole belly and absolutely ZERO libido as opposed to my 15% libido normally haha. My poor husband can't even with me right now.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Waiting for baby and so happy for the moms who have delivered recently. Its just amazing to read all the stories and see the pictures! I love babies lol <3

Baby prep done this week? None until my Amazon order starts coming in! I guess I could reassemble the swing and bring the diaper pail upstairs in the meantime

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Oh man....I grew up in a TV free household and only just recently discovered Netflix but if I had to pick one I would say New Girl. If the show was on an endlessly powered on TV that played constantly, I would choose Avatar the Last Airbender or Doctor Who, but if I could consciously choose when to sit down and turn on the one TV show, New Girl.

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))?

    40 weeks today!!

    How big is baby/milestones?

Size of a Red Panda?! They are so cute lol

    Upcoming appointments this week?

    Midwife on Wed

    Any new symptoms or changes?

    Newp not a one lol

Well I guess the circulation issues have gotten worse but it did with DS too and I know it will go away PP.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?

You know since thr beginning I've wanted her to take her time but based on what everyone else said (2nd babies come faster) I figured she'd be here by now. I know its odd to say I'm happy she's not. I got my nails done, hair cut yesterday, french toast with my boys this am. I'm sooo looking fwd to her arrival but I'm enjoying this potentially la at weekend as a family of 3

    Baby prep done this week

Everything is SUPER prepped. The really last last last thing I was waiting on is kinda frustrating story. There was this mom on a local mom fb group I'm in. Everyone is amazing and super supportive etc. Well this mom (who I've never met but talked to alot online) wanted to try out carriers before buying. She coincidently lives like 10 min from me (I live in horse country lol) and I have like EVERY carrier. So FOUR months ago I lent her 5 carriers. One brand NWT. Told her to take her time I was in no rush until DD got here. 2 months pass. She wants to buy the NWT one from me (cool) long story short since then it's been 2 months of back and forth trying to get her to drop off my stinkin carriers. The last couple weeks I've been like... soooo she could show up any day now. I've told her I could pick them up... just super frustrating.

Anywho.. she finally dropped them off Yesterday! Then she actually asked me if I had hired a newborn photographer yet. Um.. lol you're kidding right?!

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be?

So while I watch quite a few shows I'm not a major - must watch fan of any. I will say when the network gave up Nashville last year I was SUPER hopeful that CMT picked it up (then thrilled when they did)

With the rest of the female nation I like parenthood and this is us. But most of the time I like shows like the blacklist, elementary, house of cards.

I'd definitely love recommendations for upcoming Boobie lock down time!! (that's when I binge watched parenthood!)

Oh wait funny thing -  the random show that I have ALWAYS ALWAYS LOVED is - How it's made! Haha I would totally watch this show for the rest of my life!

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 38 weeks yesterday only 13 more days until my due date... not that I'm counting or anything... haha

How big is baby/milestones? Officially full term!! Baby is the size of a winter melon  although I don't like the idea of pushing one of those out of me...

Upcoming appointments this week? Regular check up on Wednesday. Pretty sure it's nothing special

Any new symptoms or changes? More BH and cramping still but that's it. How much longer am I going to have these before the baby comes?!

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I haven't seen the sun in like TWO weeks, the weather here has been so crappy. I'm really hoping the sun comes out soon. Also, waiting for baby is getting a little harder when you see everyone else's baby's arriving. Hoping he comes soon.

As a positive, to distract me, DH suggested we do a "food tour" through the city today, so we're going to all our favorite places, splitting one dish, then walking to the next place. I'm not going to lie it's been awesome so far

Baby prep done this week? No, but only because everything is pretty much ready and in place. Only thing left to do is hurry up and wait for baba

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Hands down it would be Psych for me. I absolutely LOVE that show, and it's soooo funny.

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 37 weeks....3 weeks (give or take)

How big is baby/milestones? Romaine lettuce

    Upcoming appointments this week? Tuesday

Any new symptoms or changes?  My pelvis and hips ache.  Everything feels stretched out.  More Braxton hicks thoughout the day and evening.

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  My 3rd was 9 days late and I remember being uncomfortable, but not like how I feel now with the really achy pelvis and hips.  Knowing it could be another month makes me wonder how I'll make it.  Maybe this baby will surprise us.

Baby prep done this week? Bought a belly binder for postpartum and went through the rest of the baby stuff.  Started to pack my bag and the kids' bag

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be?  Xfiles....

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 39 weeks

How big is baby/milestones? A pumpkin. Fully baked.

Upcoming appointments this week? Tuesday I see my midwife. She didn't think I'd need that appointment when I saw her last week.... I'm starting to doubt that

Any new symptoms or changes? Prodromal labour. So fun. And diarrhea. Which I thought was a good sign last night. But i woke up still pregnant. Had my bloody show over a week ago, I'm walking around at 5cm dilated. This baby can come any time now.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I am so done with being pregnant. Not being in my own home/bed is killing me.

Baby prep done this week? Nope. I'm as ready as I'm going to be.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Greys anatomy for sure.

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? Due date (yesterday) has come and gone, and baby is still cooking! Scheduled for an induction on Wednesday if he doesn't show up before then.

How big is baby/milestones? The Bump says a watermelon...which seems really weird.

Upcoming appointments this week? Just induction, if that's how things play out.

Any new symptoms or changes? I'm not sure if I'm nesting or just trying to keep myself busy and my mind occupied...but I don't think my house has ever been cleaner!

Rants/Raves/Randoms? At my appointment last week Dr. said I was 4-5 cm. I left hoping that things would get moving and we'd have a baby this weekend. Kind of bummed, but trying to relax and wait for baby to decide it's time!

Baby prep done this week? I just finished prepping a list of addresses for sending out announcements. I think all clothes/blankets/baby things are FINALLY washed and put away.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? This is tricky because I'm sure after a little while I would get so sick of just one show, but I would say The Office. It's my go-to show and I've lost count how many times I've watched it.

    Baby Boy: coming March 2017

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 38 weeks yesterday

How big is baby/milestones? Winter melon

Upcoming appointments this week? I have one on Wednesday. Should just be a normal checkup

Any new symptoms or changes? It seems like every week the aches just intensify. When I was pregnant with DS, I never got that "over being pregnant" feeling. But I'm there now:)

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Our Sunday school surprised us with a baby shower last

Baby prep done this week? I've been doing a deep cleaning of our room so that we can move the cosleeper and changing table in today or tomorrow.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life, what would it be? I like watching tv shows but I get bored of them easily so I think I'd rather go without if I could only have one:)

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? Baby girl is 6 days old. I would have been 38 weeks today :)

How big is baby/milestones? She was 6lbs, 10oz at her appt on Friday

    Upcoming appointments this week? Nope!

Any new symptoms or changes? I've been having a lot of pelvic pain since I had her...also, engorged breasts, bleeding and loss of bladder control. My BP has also decided to go back up again. Was great at delivery but started creeping back up the day I left the hospital. Today it was 157/95 :-/

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I forgot how often babies eat! But I also forgot how much I love nursing!

Baby prep done this week? Just moving around all the baby holders to suit our needs.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Greys Anatomy or Arrow

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? Natalie is 3 days Old!

How big is baby/milestones? Discharged from hospital at 10lbs 3oz - had 3 seporate nurses comment on my "toddler" that I birthed.

Upcoming appointments this week? First outside baby appointment with Pedi tomorrow am. HEPB shot (since I passes on it at the hospital) and weight check to make sure she is nursing well/thriving.

Any new symptoms or changes? Mom: Milk came in today-huge sore boobs! Mostly I feel like I got hit by a bus. The "I just birthed a baby" adrenaline has all worn out and I'm pooped!

Baby: poop has switched from tarry black to more "normal" newborn poops! Eating round the clock. Already to switch to size one diapers-but trying to use all the newborns from the hospital because it's easier with the umbilical chord stump

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Didn't go to church today-but got a message from my girl friend that they announced babies birth during the service--she said that we got an audible gasp and lots of chatter at hearing how huge she was.

I feel like anytime you mention a giant baby, all that peoples minds flash to thinking about is your poor lady parts.

Baby prep done this week? Packed AWAY all the newborn sized clothes I won't be using - HAH.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Hmm... I hate re-watching anything.  DH will ask me if I want to watch a certain movie or show and my response is always... meh, I saw that 5years ago. I need a little more time. Hah.

But current show that I'd always wait on pins and needles for the next season: Sherlock. LOVE me some Benedict <3 such an amazing actor.

  • @Lexxilou1986 I'm currently watching Arrow on Netflix since baby girl doesn't like to sleep between 6 pm and 1 am, lol. I'm not even sure if it's a good show or not (writing and acting seem pretty weak) but I'm hooked.

@kjd291 Worst case scenario maybe you can cut a little scoop out of the front of some size 1 diapers?

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? Liam is 6 days old.

How big is baby/milestones? About 9 lbs. My milk came in on Friday.  @kjd291 I thought mine was tough at 9 lbs 4 oz. I can't even imagine 10+

Upcoming appointments this week? Follow up with the ped for a growth check on Friday.

Any new symptoms or changes? The epidural doesn't hurt in my back anymore but that healed just in time for engorgement to kick in. I have a third degree tear and it's not fun either.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? DH has been amazing and crazy supportive. Also, ladies from our church have been dropping off meals. We are so thankful.

Baby prep done this week? I birthed him lol.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Friends, for sure.

  • @kjd291 Worst case scenario maybe you can cut a little scoop out of the front of some size 1 diapers?
True! Thanks!  I'll probably give that a go in the coming days instead of trying to roll them down.
  • are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 39 weeks!

How big is baby/milestones? Baby is a watermelon, I am officially a whale.

    Upcoming appointments this week? OB.

Any new symptoms or changes? Hilarious difficulty laying down, sitting, and standing because my stomach is so huge compared to the rest of me. I'm constantly holding on to things so I won't fall over when I lose my balance.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? After getting so much information about hospital options for vaginal birth, it's amazing me how difficult it is to get ANY info about a c-section. You'd think I'm the first woman ever who's interested in knowing what medicines I might be given and learning about them beforehand.

Baby prep done this week? Knocked out the end of the list - couple more swaddles and diaper rash ointment! Definitely walked down ever aisle of Babies R Us while there for only two things just to coo over the baby stuff.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be?

Tough! Probably Star Trek or Dr. Who.

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @npaulie - I looooove Psych! Our cats names are Shawn & Juliet! We wanted Shawn & Gus, but there were no brother pairs available when we adopted. If we get a male dog, he might end up being a Gus (but Chewbacca is more likely). On a different note, have you ever watched "Galavant"? It has Tim Omundson in it being an absolute fruitcake. It's hilarious. Available on Netflix.

How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 37 weeks / hoping for 3 more!

How big is baby/milestones? Ovia says size of a skunk

Upcoming appointments this week? Yup, weekly check in. Will be reviewing the birth plan with our midwife.

Any new symptoms or changes? Not really. Still feeling pretty good overall. A little cramping now & then, but nothing major. I have been drinking milk like its my job.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I feel pretty terrible for my DH. He's taking a major licensing exam in April and has prep classes every Sat & Sun for 8 hours. He's so stressed. But, we've gotten 98% of the baby prep already done, so at least he can relax about that.

Baby prep done this week? Car seat bases installed this week. Wrote up birth plan.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? This is really tough because I have a ton of shows that I love. It would probably come down to either Lost or Game of Thrones. Both are complex enough that I could continue to analyze them upon multiple viewings.

  • How far along are you/how much longer ((if baby is here: how old is baby))? 39 yesterday....how much longer? Any day now according to every single person who sees me (thank you I'm well aware)

How big is baby/milestones? A pumpkin or watermelon

Upcoming appointments this week? OB Thursday, she said she'll do a cervical check then to see about potentially making induction plan if needed

Any new symptoms or changes? feeling like he's stretching in all directions: up into my ribs and down onto my bladder. Just generally tired so I'm looking forward to a day off Wednesday

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Really just hoping babe comes on his own. Haven't really thought about induction or read much on it so I'm a little nervous because I'd really like to go med free. I'm open to whatever needs to be done to make it better for baby but you know. Still hard to relinquish that control and having everything planned out. Trying not to stress or worry about it in general though. I honestly do think everyone else seems more concerned with when baby will come than I am haha

Baby prep done this week? Bought a few more decorations for nursery, set up the baby monitor. Will try to attempt some freezer meals on Wednesday since we got a deep freezer a couple weeks ago.

GTKY: if you could only watch one show the rest of your life what would it be? Ugh tough one! I've binged on so many different shows because I don't like to watch stuff repeatedly. Maybe Gilmore girls or how I met your mother (but I hated the ending of HIMYM). OH or Fixer Upper. I have a ton of those DVR'd for when I'm on maternity leave lol

  • pandalily  HIMYM YES!! Ending lame  - yessss  :/
  • @pandalily if you're at 39w2d why are they talking about inducing you? Medical reason or do they just seem ready to not be on baby's time?
At the classes we took (hypnobirthing and hospital) they stressed you have more of a "birth month" rather than a due date, especially first time moms who tend to go beyond 40w.

  • Don't share the ending of HIMYM!!! I never saw it, planning to binge while nursing.

  • @sunshine507 apparently my OB practice does not like to let moms go past 41 - they claim the placenta is too old then. She said if I am pushing to go to 42 then they would only do that with extreme caution and counseling. But I'll see again what that entails at my appointment this week as long as I make it to it!

@pandalily I know for "older" moms going past 40w increases the risk to baby, but I hadn't heard about going past 41 for most women being a thing - am glad to hear they'd at least let you get to 41w (assuming you want to) without an induction if baby looks good. Hope it all goes well!
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Truthfully the longer a pregnancy goes on, the higher the chance of the placenta no longer functioning well. Its definitely not BS (like inducing solely for estimated weight at an ultrasound would be BS). Plus fluid levels drop more the longer you are pregnant. I wouldn't want to be induced unless necessary, but I would want additional monitoring after 41 weeks just in case. @kjd291 probably as wisdom about this, lol.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @pandalily that's interesting. My hospital refuses to induce before 42 weeks without a valid medical reason.

@runboorun I LOVE the names of your pets!!!! I haven't seen galavant. Will have to check it out!!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Like @npaulie I've never heard of induction for this reason that early as well. Yes eventually the placenta and support system in general will start to deteriorate but that's why after 40w there is additional monitoring. My doula has 4 boys each of them born after 41w w/o induction.

@pandalily obviously you need to do what's best for you and your baby. Like @npaulie I was curious when you mentioned induction wondering if you had a medical issue.
  • Yes! It's just normal that the farther along you get the placenta ages and water levels decrease.  So when you hit 41 like with midwives that let you stay pregnant like mine-they require an extra ultrasound to check on fluid levels ((which is what sent me for my induction))
It's hard for me because docs focus on the risks of post term pregnancy--but there are similar risks with induction.
Like a big one for low fluid is having baby not stay as happy through delivery and risk of C-section. BUT pitocin contractions are proven to also have this risk.... etc.

SO-any of you approaching 41wks, just do your research and make sure you're on the same page as your providers!
  • RE placenta health - research says the best thing for placenta health is to make sure you're eating enough protein. Women who get 80+ grams of protein a day rarely have placenta degradation even after 42 weeks.

  • Thanks ladies! I will have to try to do some reading today on it and talk to the nurse midwife tomorrow about our options again. Yeah, no medical issues for me and I'm 28 so it is more just their general policy. I'll have to be better about eating protein (in the future) because truthfully I'm not a big meat eater...
