Waiting Room Wednesday January 18

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!
You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons
TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons

ETA: to add a gif :) ___________________________________________________________________

Are you benched or TTA?

What brings you here?

How long do you think you'll be here?

How have things been going?

Doing anything to prep for TTC?

Any R/R?

Re: Waiting Room Wednesday January 18

  • Are you benched or TTA?
    TTA
    What brings you here?
DH's time table and now grad school
How long do you think you'll be here?
I'm dropping the pill in March to try to get back in the swing of temping. But probably not trying until May :(
    How have things been going?
As well as they can be. I am sick of waiting but I've been super busy lately so it seems like time is moving a little faster than it was at least.
Doing anything to prep for TTC?
Not too much right now. I am trying to lose a little weight and I have started my PNVs.
    Any R/R?
    Not today
GTKY: Favorite book? If you are currently reading something - what is it?
I love to read but don't always have the time. I am a huge Harry Potter nerd :) I am not reading anything right now but I saw that Veronica Roth came out with a new book yesterday so I might be reading something soon...

  • Hi @glitzandglitter

    Are you benched or TTA?
    TTA
    What brings you here?
We want some space between DD and our hopefully future second child. DD is 12 weeks.
How long do you think you'll be here?
Probably until the end of the year
    How have things been going?
Good. I'm in a weird place, I'm not ready to start trying yet, but I also can't wait. I really enjoyed my last pregnancy and of course the end result. :)
Doing anything to prep for TTC?
Nope, just trying to be healthy and remember to take my prenatal vitamin!
    Any R/R?
    No
GTKY: Favorite book? If you are currently reading something - what is it?
Of Mice and Men or To Kill a Mockingbird are probably my favorite books. Otherwise now, I'm reading a text book. I'm working on getting an industry designation so I can have fancy letters behind my name lol
    ;)
  • @adnama585 Welcome!  I loved TKAM, too.  Have you read Go Set a Watchman?  Thoughts?

  • Are you benched or TTA?  TTA

What brings you here?  I'm a truly insane baby addict, apparently.

How long do you think you'll be here?  Now I'm thinking it will be mid-2018 if we go for #6, because this coming fall is going to be busy with our oldest two kids starting junior high, and it would be bad if I had debilitating nausea at that time.

How have things been going?  Rainy here in SoCal!

Doing anything to prep for TTC?  Not yet.

Any R/R?  Rant:  Somehow my iron levels are too high (from taking iron for the last few months to help my anemia) but hemoglobin and ferritin are low.  My ferritin is like a 7!  WTF.  Trying to figure out what that means in terms of treatment, using Dr. Google, until I talk to my real doc next week.

GTKY: Favorite book? If you are currently reading something - what is it?  Fave book is probably Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

  • Are you benched or TTA?

    TYA

    What brings you here?

My DD is a year and half and I'm dying to start working on baby number two however with grad school, my husbands job, weddings and a potential move it's just not in the cards yet.

How long do you think you'll be here? DH says we can possibly start trying in August

How have things been going? things are good I'm just frustrated because I want another baby to sniff and snuggle so bad.

Doing anything to prep for TTC? not yet, I will prob start taking a prenatal again soon.

    Any R/R?

GTKY: Favorite book? If you are currently reading something - what is it? Harry Potter is my ultimate jam but I just started the Fire and Ice series.

  • @Saratiff Welcome! This board is pretty quiet. I am in the same boat :/ I am in grad school too right now but I have been wanting to TTC since last year. DH has taken a while to come around to the idea but we are planning to start trying in the late spring/early summer.
How long do you have left with school?
  • I know this is an older post but, what the hell, right?

Are you benched or TTA? Avoiding, per my husband

What brings you here? I have been waiting 3.5 years for my husband to be ready for a second. It's been tough to see other ladies in my daughter's birth group have their second and even third child.

How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully no longer than May, but we will see. I've learned not to get my hopes up too high.

How have things been going? I can't lie, it's been rough waiting so long. We went through a spell where my husband said he didn't want another child at all but he eventually came back around to wanting one more. He had me cancel our Caribbean cruise (that would have been this weekend) because of Zika and suggested that he wanted to start trying in the spring. Unfortunately he is still hesitant to jump in quite yet. Our home was destroyed by a tornado a few months ago and we're just now getting settled again, so I totally get it. It's just hard to be teased with the idea of trying for another but still not getting any firm timelines.

Doing anything to prep for TTC? Just pre-natals for now. I take continuous hormones due to Endometriosis so I can't come off birth control early.

Any R/R? I'm just praying I don't get my hopes dashed again.

GTKY: Favorite book? If you are currently reading something - what is it?  My current favorite is Conspirata by Robert Harris. It's historical fiction about Caesar's rise to power. It's amazing.
I'm also a giant Harry Potter nerd! I am going to Orlando for a work conference in a couple weeks and am flying in early to spend a day at Universal. I can't wait!

  • @notthefather I have been in a similar boat (though my wait hasn't been as long.) I have been waiting about a year and a half for my DH to get on the same page. Initially he said he was done but thankfully has come around and we will be trying late spring/early summer. I am having the same issues with TTGP. I hav posted a few times but I plan on starting posting on WTO/TWW when I start temping.  This board has been pretty slow but we are happy to have you here :)
  • There seemed to be several posters who are in the same boat as us on TTGP. If they all migrate this way it wouldn't be so quiet!  :#

  • @notthefather whoa so sorry to hear about the tornado!!! How terrible! We are planning to start trying in May as well and I'm also a huge Harry Potter fan! Drink a butterbeer for me while you're in Orlando!   :D
  • @UterusesBeforeDuderuses - You got it! Have you been to the HP park? Linking back to the Fitness tracking - have you participated in any of the HP races? They're virtual so you can complete them on your own time and in your own way. Basically you sign up, pay a fee that goes to a designated charity, and get a HP themed medal and race bib. It's super cheesy but kind of fun, a good motivator, and helps charity.

  • @notthefather and @UterusesBeforeDuderuses - I'm a huge Harry Potter fan too and we live literally down the street from Universal Studios in LA and I'm D-Y-I-N-G for my daughter to be old enough to enjoy it.  I'm just probably going to break down and take her anyway this year (she's 1, haha, but I can't wait.)
  • @notthefather HP races sound awesome! Hogsmead and Diagon Alley at Universal are amazing. I would love to just go hang out there everyday.
  • @maureenmce - One of my best friends lives in Pasadena and I'm super jealous of you both for having quick and easy access! It will be so much fun to take your daughter. If nothing else you can get some cute pictures.
This will be my first visit to either park and it's going to be a really long day. I'll have to get up around 3:30 for our flight but I'm sure I'll be so excited the adrenaline will keep me going while we are there.

  • @notthefather I've been to HP world in Orlando twice and I loved it!!!! I'm not sure if it is doable with your little one but take advantage of the single rider lines on the really popular rides if you can. I literally walked right on to the Gringotts ride and the dudes I rode with had been in line 45 minutes!

I hadn't heard of the races, that is awesome! I am totally going to look into that!

@maureenmce I'm also mad jealous of your HP proximity!
