Just wondering if anyone else has been spotting around 5 weeks? Is it a common thing? I had a miscarriage in August 2015 that started with spotting, so I am on pins and needles here.
I had a few specks of blood when wiping (sorry TMI?) the other day. I'm 5w6d today. It made me panic because of a previous loss. But there was nothing more so I'm just trying to relax and take it easy.
Spotting is very common, especially in first trimester. I know how hard it is not to panic, but try to relax. If you want some reassurance you could ask your doctor to check your HCG levels. My OB was awesome and put in a standing order at my lab. So I can go if I need some reassurance that my levels are still rising. She wouldn't normally do this, but I think she did to give me peace of mind after my loss.
I have had two episodes of brief spotting. After the first I went straight to the Dr and they did a sono and hcg check and both showed all was ok. Happened again this week but it was very light and I have another scan tomorrow so I am crossing fingers that everything is ok. If you have any doubts just call your OB and they can do a scan or hcg check.
Spotting is totally normal at any point during your pregnancy because everything is so super sensitive. If you have any cramping, red blood or clots, you'll definitely want to call your OB. But otherwise, try to relax. (Trust me, I know it's WAY easier said than done)
@ForwardnBackward I'm doing OK. I started spotting again tonight so I'm going to call the Dr's office first thing tomorrow morning. Staying calm is easier said than done. (: Thank you so much for checking on me!
TMI Alert... I've had a bit of spotting over the weekend as well. Very light and ranging from light pink to brownish and only when wiping. Called my OB this morning. The receptionist didn't seem overly worried and said it is pretty normal and mine sounds normal but she will talk to the doctor when he gets in this morning and call me back. I've had a previous loss and this seems nothing like that (hopefully) but my concern was if I would need Rhogam for light spotting because I'm O- and of course my husband is A+. But I think it is too early for that to be a factor yet anyway.
@wbleyl Im sorry that youre going through this... its so hard when you have had a loss in the past. I also started having some light spotting only when i wiped about a week ago at 5 weeks ranging from pink to brown. I have never had any red bleeding nor.cramping. When i went for sono last week we saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac and i was told this can be very common. Obviously Im still very worried because I too, have had a recent loss. Just wanted to let you know youre not alone... this is very tough and I am keeping you in my prayers. I go for another scan this morning. Lots of love and hugs your way.
Hopefully you can get answers from your doctor today. I had spotting last Monday and called my doctor. They had me go in for Beta draws last week just for peace of mind. They told me it's extremely normal spot during pregnancy. I had a mmc in august so my office is extremely understanding. Keeping my fingers crossed everything goes well for you. Keep us updated on how you are doing.
Thank you all for being so kind! I called the Dr today and he was more concerned with my symptoms than I thought he'd be. He scheduled blood tests this week and an ultrasound Friday. Friday seems like a few weeks away. I feel better after hearing from some of you. My fingers are crossed!
@ForwardnBackward It did for a day or so, but started up again last night. My miscarriage happened quicker than this and that is what is keeping me hopeful right now. Thank you for checking on me!
@wbleyl sorry you are going through this. I have not had spotting, but one of my very good friends had spotting throughout all three pregnancies and they turned out fine. Fingers crossed for your Friday appointment.
@CAdreamin13 I went in for an ultrasound Friday and everything is looking good, but no heartbeat yet. I'm headed back this Friday for another ultrasound. I'm feeling better and so far no more spotting. Thanks for asking. (:
Thanks to everyone who responded to me when I was frantic and thought I might be having a miscarriage. Talking to mamas in real time really helped me relax! ♡
Update: I went in for another ultrasound Friday and it was a bit scary because the ultrasound tech couldn't even see a yolk sac anymore. Then she did a vaginal ultrasound and we could see the baby just fine and hear the heartbeat. Feeling like things are going to be just fine now. (:
@marousse I'm sorry- it's the scariest thing no matter how many times people tell you it's normal. Fingers crossed for you and let me know how it goes.
Glad to hear they found a heartbeat!! I had brown spotting this past Friday and Saturday. I go in today for an ultrasound and initial check up. I've had a CP and any spotting is terrifying. I know it's "normal" but also have experience that it can be abnormal.
I just started with the brown spotting about 2 hours ago. Trying not to freak out, but it is impossible not to. I never had this before with either pregnancy. I'm only 7 weeks along, but i feel like it is way too late for implantation bleeding. Luckily the doc squeezed me in tomorrow afternoon, so i should know one way or the other what is happening soon. My gut tells to prepare for the worst.
I know this thread is old, but I just had red spotting(pretty light) when I wiped on my tissue paper and I'm freaking out. I am almost 8 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy, so I called the doctor right away to let them know and said to keep them updated. Prayers please, I'm hoping it is just nothing:/
@kkerner87 I had brown spotting when I was pregnant with my son. I freaked out but nothing happened. Brown spotting is okay I think. It's most likely old blood. Red blood with clots and cramps is something to definitely get checked out.
