Me: age 26 DH: age 29
Hi ladies! First things first, I had never had a regular cycle! Ever! Typically it was 3 months off (cool! Especially when it would land in the summer!) but then 1 month on (absolute hell!). My mom finally decided to take me to an OBGYN at the age of 17. They put me on birth control, this regulated my cycles and everything was peachy keen! Fast forward, 12.31.13 I get engaged!! So I stop taking birth control to see how my cycles were naturally. It was not looking good! I had some bad cramps, and thought nothing of it. Until 05.16.14 at 3am, I couldn't take the pain anymore, I thought I had appendicitis, my fiancé took me the ER. I remember the date because my sister was getting married the next day! (I actually ended up making it, they reluctantly released me the next morning! I was in a lot of pain and on powerful pain meds, but I'm glad I didn't miss it!) Talk about poor timing, but I literally couldn't handle it. Anyway, test after test, they discovered a softball size mass near my belly button. They had no idea what it was. It took all day to come up with a plan. Finally around 5pm they took me in for exploratory surgery. It ended being a large hemorrhagic cystic mass (awesome!). Well, it started on my right ovary and twisted around it strangling my right tube and ovary (done-zo!). So that's how I ended up with one ovary and one tube.
I had a gut feeling it would be hard TTC so we started in October of 2014. Nothing. We got married on Valentine's Day 2015. Happiest day of my life!! My OBGYN started running tests- no health issues, I am overweight but not obese, hormones were not normal however! So of course they give you the whole "try to lose 10 pounds to kickstart your cycle". News flash! I was at a normal weight most of my teenage life, and my cycles were still jacked up, so that didn't help. Basically, I don't ovulate at all on my own, that's my problem lol She did a HSG to check my tube, perfectly open! Yay! Finally something going right! Then we take a SA (was going to try Clomid). SA came back at 0% morphology. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I'm wondering what fertility Gods we both pissed off! So we decided to take a break. We started seeing an RE in 2016. They did another SA, morphology good! But count and motility not so good. DH started Clomid in November 2016. Did another SA and count and motility improved (but still low) and morphology still good! Since we don't have IVF coverage our RE let us try IUI. Yay!! Now for the fun part.
I took Clomid 100mg cd3-7. CD10 follies at 8mm and 7mm. CD 14 no growth

. I thought we would have to wait until the next cycle and try a higher dose. But no! They started me on clomid 100mg again CD14-18, cd 21- 16.9mm and 14mm follies! Yay! But my lining was thin. They started me on Estradiol vaginally. Cd 23- two follies both at 22.5mm and lining was 8mm!!!!! Yay!!! So happy! Trigger shot that night at 8:15pm. Then IUI 2.24.17 at 1:00pm cd 25, this was about 40 hours after trigger. Sperm count after wash was 2million with 83% motility. We weren't thrilled with that, but the andrologist and the nurses didn't even acknowledge the low numbers. I'm hoping quality over quantity, and since half of them can't go down the wrong tube, I'm kind of counting it at 4million! Haha I just have so much hope because I have never ovulated! So to think now there is an egg or two for the spermies to possibly do something with makes me happy!
When they did the IUI, my cervix was pointing up, so they had me drink a bunch of water, and that helped put it at a better angle, and after that easy peasy!! Didn't even feel the catheter. Had my progesterone checked at 5dpiui, it was 8.64, so they started me on progesterone suppositories. Today I am 10dpiui, and haven't even thought about testing! Waiting until blood test on Friday!! Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone on their ttc journey!!
