How far along are you? 8weeks+3

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? My Nausea seems to be non existent this week, and my sore boobs are much less sore. I seem to be hungrier & hips are sore.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Not until 3/22

Rants/raves? Flu shot: got the flu shot by my doctor's request. 5 days later i came down with a low grade fever and was feeling achy for about 24 hours. I feel better now, but i wasn't really thrilled with the reaction.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? for STM's...Has anyone ever experience a loss of symptoms around 8 weeks? I've read it can be fairly common. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Hearing people chew...so gross.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? My symptoms come & go. I'm so tired in the evenings after work! I'm having come light cramping and my hips hurt occasionally.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? No appointments.

Rants/raves? This exhaustion is getting the best of me during the week. Once I get home, I am ready for bed. Hoping that will get better in the next trimester!

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? I hate when I ask someone to do something and they complain about it the whole time. Just shut your mouth and get it over with! The more you complain the longer it will take! :s  This is at work & at home!

@emwj10187 Hearing people chew & people that chew with their mouth open / talk & eat at the same time! That may be a tie as my biggest pet peeve!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? See above. I have an u/s Friday so just trying not to stress too much until then.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? We saw the hb this past Friday :)

Rants/raves? I'm happy that Monday is over! I have no commitments tonight so I can relax at home  B)

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Nope

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? I cannot stand when people don't use turn signals.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Boobs are getting mighty sore. Burping a lot.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nada, next week!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check-in? My goodness yes! I thought I'd get away with being one of those lovely, glowing pregnant ladies without symptoms. No such luck. The nausea hit hard core this week, with lots of gagging over the smallest provocation. I'm also exhausted, unmotivated to do my work, and even coffee has started to taste bad :(

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope, my first appointment is March 10th.

Rants/raves? Rave: DH has been AMAZING, picking up the slack as I've been feeling bad. I really appreciate it!

Questions for FTM, or STM+? STMs, at what point do you recommend buying the big stuff? E.g., the crib, car seat, changing table, etc.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People who can't use correct grammar.
  • How far along are you? I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? I didn't do this check in last week. My nausea has been increasing and I have almost no appetite lately but still no throwing up. (My mom had HG with one of her pregnancies and I was old enough to remember so I have a fear of MS) I have recently discovered that lemon really helps with my nausea. My breasts are sore and I think growing. Also, I've been getting dry skin on my torso.

Any appointments? No. Still got a month

Rants/Raves? My husband has really been pissing me off. I'm starting to think he's doing it on purpose. Oh, and my dog keeps eating his poo and no one is home before dark to pick it up.

    Questions? Not now

Nausea is going away, just comes in waves now so yay! But my whole body is sore, like I have ran a marathon while i slept.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?
    First appointment tomorrow!

    Rants/raves?
    Nope!

People who slack off at work! Im exhausted, I don't want to pick up your slack.
  • @jessirh I got the big stuff a lot closer to the end. You might get gift cards at your baby shower you can use toward those purchases, or a few family members might all pitch in to get you one of the big things.

@jessirh I will also add to go ahead and put them on your registry.  Most places give you a special discount after your "shower date" to finish up your shopping.  I also made my shower date several months before on my registries so I could go ahead and get those discounts.
  • Thanks @riverraine and @mrs_fogue ! I felt like it was too early to be thinking about that stuff but didn't know if I was being too unconcerned. The registry idea is a good idea.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Ugh... MS. All. Day. Vomiting maybe 1x daily it seems. Dry heaved a couple times today though. Couldn't eat my lunch because the thought made me sick. Ugh.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?  1st appointment tomorrow!!

Rants/raves? We don't want to tell anyone about this pregnancy until we have our first appointment. I was planning on telling my mom this weekend (if everything was good.) The other night my mom's BF texted and asked if we wanted any leftover donuts from a party they went to. I told him no, probably not a good idea (part because I don't usually indulge on bad-for-you food, part because it's a pain to drive to her house after work b/c of traffic, and part because I'm KU and don't want to let myself go/have MS.) My mom then took over the phone and proceeded to ask if I was pregnant. I responded with "Um.. that's direct" and she kept pushing for an answer. I told her I'd let her know this weekend. She then responded with "eat meat."  :D So then DH got all mad because by not confirming nor denying, I essentially told her. What do you want me to do? lol I can't say no and be like "never mind" two days later. He got over it, but he was really upset for a minute lol.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Did anyone's DH come to the first appointment? Was it beneficial or was he bored? DH doesn't want to come (he's coming to the ultrasound before hand) but many sources I've read say this is the most important appointment and the father should attend. (I've gotten some feedback from other sources... just wanted to cast a net here and see what you all have been through.) Thoughts?

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Not using a blinker probably tops my list. And people who over-share on FB.

DH came to my first appointment yesterday. Our doctor was very inclusive, making sure to ask both of us questions and talk with both of us, not just me. It was nice for moral support. They also asked about our health spectrum/family medical history.

I doubt DH will be able to go to many more appointments because of his work schedule. I'd totally encourage your DH to attend. But, for this appointment, DH was over the moon with joy.

    Hi everyone!  :)

    How far along are you?
    5 weeks exactly!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? This is my first check-in. Sore boobs and fatigue are probably the two most prominent symptoms. I've also been feeling queasy on and off, slight cramping once in a while, a few moments of dizziness, and I've felt a bit more emotional than usual.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? First check up is on the 13th, just shy of seven weeks.

Rants/raves? Hubby has been amazing. Reading and learning are his go-tos, so he's been trying to take in as much as he can. He's also been cutting up veggies and bagging them for my lunches, checking in with me to see how I'm doing/feeling throughout the day, etc. No rants yet, but this new garden of zits that has started to bloom on my chin and neck can take a hike.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Nope.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? When people constantly cut me off in conversation or talk over me, or when people sneeze/cough into their hands instead of their elbows.

@crazypuglady DH came to my first appointment as well. It was helpful having him there b/c as this is my first pregnancy there werea lot of information and questions, and there was no way i'd remember it all to relay it to him. I would definitely push for him to go. If he's weirded out by the pelvic exam, he can step out of the room for that, and come back in for the rest.

Good luck to you, and hope all goes well this weekend!

  • @crazypuglady dh came with me but it was just my first ultrasound not official on appt yet.

How far along are you? 6 weeks tomorrow

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Hungry. I feel like I can't get full!

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my first ultrasound and all looked good. I go back every Monday for an ultrasound until my RE releases me.

Rants/raves? Hoping to see a heartbeat on mondays ultrasound!

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? I'm a teacher so there's a lot of noises that drive me crazy but what I call "mouth noises"... kids really do make the craziest sounds with their mouths and most are so gross to me!
  • How far along are you? 8w+1d
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not really, just the same boob soreness/fatigue/gagging at everything.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? We had our first ultrasound yesterday and it went perfectly! We saw and heard the little heartbeat, and the doctor said everything looked great. I'm so relieved, and my H is like a different person now that he has proof that I'm really pregnant, haha.
Rants/raves? I'm taking 30 students to a competition in Anaheim this weekend and am dreading it. Mostly because I've been so busy focusing on the pregnancy that I don't feel ready for it. I'm also a little bummed to be going to Disneyland and not able to do some of the fun stuff, haha.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? None that I can think of.
GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Students making noise while I'm trying to speak. That's what I get for teaching music.
  • How far along are you? As of now doc says 5 weeks... It was 9 weeks until they did the ultrasound and the sac is small and they can't see anything in it yet :/

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? First check in but have been battling nausea, nearly burps, and the sorest boobs ever

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Well... I had my first two since finding out five days ago. On Monday 2/27 doc told me I was 9 weeks based on urine test and symptoms. Went today 3/1 for the first ultrasound and there was nothing to be seen inside the sack :/ doctor said "you're definitely pregnant, just not sure if it's a good pregnancy yet" and told me I was 5 weeks. Did lots of bloodwork to test for issues on my mother's side (my mom had 4 MC and my grandma 2 MC) and also took my HCG levels. I have another appt on 3/8 to check levels and if they aren't up they're going to consider this a blighted ovum :( keep me and DH in your prayers!

Rants/raves? Hate that I have to wait another week to find out if my baby is there or not :/ trying to keep my thoughts positive

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Anyone go through a blighted ovum and be able to conceive again soon after? Even though this wasn't planned DH said he wants to try for one as soon as possible if this doesn't turn out to be anything.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People who take forever to talk. Just spit it out already!!
  • @jessirh when coffee starts tasting bad, you know there's something up! And thanks for that question and the answers you got from @riverraine and @mrs_fogue I was wondering that too! I want to buy it all NOW, lol.

@nervousnelly825 Why do dogs do that!?!? Ours do too and it's just so nasty.

@crazypuglady hi friend *waves*  I like having DH there for ultrasound appts. For support and also so he feels equally involved on the process.

@keiraanne I just teared up a little at how thoughtful your DH is. Oh, these pregnancy hormones.

@soprano19 congrats on seeing the hb! It's such a game changer, isn't it?

@sarebear55 thinking of you! Fx 5 weeks is just too early. Also, your pet peeve is a huge one of mine too. So annoying!

  • How far along are you? I am 8 weeks 4 days today.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? This is my first check in. I am exhausted all the time (I just woke up from a nap), my boobs have been sore since before I found out I was pregnant, and I am randomly nauseous. I've puked once but otherwise the nausea isn't so bad.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I was seeing a specialist the first 6 weeks but then got the go ahead to see a midwife. I haven't had an appointment since then. At 6 weeks we saw the heartbeat and everything looked great but I cant wait for my next appointment. It is not until March 22nd!

Rants/raves? My best friend from college just found out she is expecting- I'm so excited. It feels like everyone is pregnant right now and I am just so happy to be in on it this time.

Questions for FTM, or STM+?  I am traveling out of the country next week. I'm going to Israel with my MIL and SIL. My midwife says I am fine to go but can anyone think of anything I should look out for? Or tips to surviving a 12 hour flight pregnant?

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Hearing the music coming from someone's headphones. It is weird to half hear a song and probably killing your eardrums.

@sarebear55 Thinking of you! As much as we all hate waiting for scans- early scans can be even more nerve wracking! It may just be too early.
  • Oh, @sagegrove what will you be in Israel for?  That's on my bucket list of places to go.

I would suggest to be more observant of what you eat especially if this is new to you food.  I would probably stick with bland foods and be careful with what you drink.

For the flight, probably stock up on some bottled waters and snacks in the airport before you get on your flight so you have extras.

  • @mrs_fogue thank you for the advice! I will have to remember to grab a few bottles of water in the airport. Last time I flew I drank all of mine and my husbands half way through- and I wasn't even pregnant! Haha.

We are just going on a girls trip. My SIL studied abroad there so I'm excited to be shown around!
  • @sagegrove you'll have to tell us all about it when you get back and good luck on that flight.

@sagegrove Israel will be so much fun!
As far as the flight, pack lots of snacks or by them post TSA if you have to. The amount of times you are fed is definitely not enough, especially if you are combating MS. But lately wheb i fly, the plane food actually helps my stomach (maybe from all the sodium?) Yes, drink plenty of water. It is so dry on board you use lose alot. You can bring an empty bottle and the crew should be more than happy to fill it up for you. We're boarded with twenty million bottles of water for international flights. If you can, switch your seat to an aisle seat, it will make the frequent bathroom trips less irritating. If you tend to swell while flying, get up every few hours and just walk the length of your cabin (make sure the seat belt sign is off and the crew isn't in the middle of service). If you're going to be in Israel for awhile, start adjusting to their timezone ahead of time and it will make the jetlag way easier- especially if you're already fatigued from the pregnancy.

Idk if you have ever been to Israel before or if you travel a lot, but when going through customs be sure to get the sticker and not a stamp on your passport. If you travel to other countries, there are some that will not let you in with an Israel stamp on your passport. I know travelling is the best time to try new foods, just make sure it is a clean and reputable restaurant- dont want to get food poisoning while abroad. (Not trying to scare you!)

Hope that helps a little bit! 12 hour flights can be rough.

**edit: sorry for typos galore, I'm in between flights and my brain is fried! Those with grammar pet peeves, try not to hold it against me.
  • @sarebear55 I had a silent miscarriage that they considered a blight ovum. While after the loss I got back on birth control so I could heal. My husband and I decided to try again almost a year later so I stopped my birth control and literally was pregnant in 2 weeks. It all just depends. I really hope it's not a blight ovum and that you have a little baby in there; but if it is, take time to heal and I think they say wait 2 cycles before trying again.. I wish you the best of luck!
  • @jessirh when coffee starts tasting bad, you know there's something up! And thanks for that question and the answers you got from @riverraine and @mrs_fogue I was wondering that too! I want to buy it all NOW, lol.

Me too! I feel so emotional!
  • I can't tag you @flying.fall?

Anyway, thank you so much for all of your advice!! I hadn't considered so much of that. Are you a flight attendant or piolt? (Or some other job I can't think of, haha).
  • @sagegrove yea, I need to change my username so I can be tagged. But I'm a flight attendant! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask- I love helping others travel  :)
  • Thank you @tyannejohn, @sagegrove, and @bluejeanbabi05 for your thoughts! I'm trying to stay positive!! I've been having bad dreams about baby so I'm just trying to just think about him hopefully having a heartbeat next week when I go to my U/S.
  • Thanks for all the feedback guys. DH did end up staying for most of the appointment and I'm glad he did because they did ask him some health questions. Plus he heard all the advice the Dr had about my health and easing my MS so now he's been looking after me :)

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Nope.  I've been lucky so far to have no MS, no vomiting. Rare nausea but my most prominent symptoms are sore boobs, exhaustion, and food aversions.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Just saw my RE for the last time for this pregnancy....got to see my little one dancing and kicking up a storm!  I'm on cloud 9!

Rants/raves? I have a 3 day weekend and it's starting off so well! Yesterday I got upgraded to a full size locker in the changing room so that was pretty sweet.  It's the simple things lol!

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?
1.) Anyone notice a strong urine smell?  I thought it was related to my fish oils but I haven't taken them in a couple days just to see if the smell would go away.  Even when my urine is dilute it just smells very strongly of urine.  I don't think it's a UTI because I'm not having any symptoms (frequency, urgency, burning, etc.). It's just very strong smelling urine!

2.) Can anyone recommend a fetal doppler? I'm ordering one on Amazon to use in between OB visits when my nerves get the best of me.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? You ladies already mentioned a bunch of good ones. I don't like being able to hear people mouth breathing or smacking with their food either! I think my biggest one though is when someone asks me a question and then continues to cut me off before I've answered it. Either let me answer it or stop asking me questions!

  • I'm pretty late on this check-in but:

How far along are you?... 7 weeks today.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?... Nothing new, just heightened all day nausea, heartburn, sore boobies, and the smell of everything that is not flowers or flower scented is making me gag. I've been burning Yankee Candles for the last 3 days for the entire time I'm home and awake.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?... This afternoon was my first OB appt. Nothing exciting. They just confirm "oh yeah, you are pregnant". Healthy physical exam and gave me the script for my US.

Rants/raves?... Rant, I'm going to be freaking out for the next 11 days, terrified that I won't have a fetal heartbeat.

Questions for FTM, or STM+?... Still none.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve?... People that ask your advice and immediately do the exact opposite. So you asked me in the first place why?
