None till the anatomy scan on 3/13

Any new symptoms or changes?
still have the morning sickness, but am starting to notice that I'm gaining weight. Also I'm fairly sure I've been feeling baby move for a few weeks

Rants/Raves/Questions?
Had to share that 2 of our friends are due in August and we just found out!

should DH get the TDAP vaccine before baby comes and when should he have it by?

thoughts on a family physician instead of a pediatrician? We asked around and most people we know use a family physician for their children and we didn't get reviews from at least two pediatric practices.

All the wine!

@Kathryn0903 That's exciting that you have friends due the same month as you! I wish one of my friends was pregnant so I'd have someone in real life to go through this with haha. As far as a family physician vs. pediatrician.. I don't have too much background knowledge about the difference. If most people around you use the family physician, maybe ask them why they chose to go that direction instead of pediatrician? We just started looking into all that too..definitely an overwhelming number of options! And remember, you can always switch providers once LO arrives if you're not happy with the level of care you're getting.

Upcoming appointments this week? None until my A/S on the 24th. The wait is killing me! Thankfully I have been using our home doppler here and there. Got my 16-week blood work back where they tested for neural tube defects...all negative! Feeling relieved to have passed another hurdle.

Any new symptoms or changes? I THINK I might have felt a few kicks the other day.. but haven't felt any since, so now I'm questioning if they were real.

Rants/Raves/Questions? My parents are starting to look at dates for a potential baby shower. My cousin is getting married in September, so a lot of her wedding events are this summer too. How early is too early to throw a baby shower? Personally, I'd love it to be a month before my due date, but my cousin's bridal shower is then so that's out..then her bachelorette party weekend is in there somewhere. Is 8 weeks before appropriate?

GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth?
SUSHI. Or a nice, cold ham sandwich. I actually haven't been craving wine/beer too much which is odd, since DH and I would drink pretty regularly with dinner pre-pregnancy.

@secicc12 I don't think 8 weeks ahead is inappropriate for a shower! My baby shower date was figured out this week and it is at the end of July (I'm due 8/30). Three of my cousins are hosting and it's just hard to coordinate a date with one working some weekends, one out of town, and one having a baby in June! I wish mine was earlier at 8 weeks-ish, but I totally get the scheduling difficulties! Also, another one of my cousins is due at the end of July and her shower is May 20! (3 of us cousins on the same side having babies in 3 months!) I think that's a very normal time frame!

Upcoming appointments this week? nothing until I meet my new OB in 2 weeks! I had been seeing our RE through the first trimester, but "graduated" from him now!

Any new symptoms or changes? I think maybe I am getting some energy back finally and have been having more and more pulls and stretches at the top of my legs/where my pelvis meets. Is this round ligament pain?

Rants/Raves/Questions? I am super grateful that my parents have already purchased our crib/mattress and my MIL bought our car seat! Everyone is just so excited and can't contain themselves. It's like the second I graduated from our RE, our families went crazy with shower planning/purchasing things! My mom even wants to make curtains for the nursery! So so sweet.

GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth? WINE WINE WINE...and beer....we have a bunch of new craft breweries that have opened around us and I can't wait to try them out!

@Kathryn0903 we go to the family medical practice in our town instead of driving into the "city" for a pediatrician (our town is getting another family practice and it'll also have pediatrician). The only real reasons we found to chose a pediatrician over a family practice was if your child has a condition that a pediatrician would be better equipped for or the fact that they flat out probably see more kids that age than a family practice. We love our family practice and know that if a specialist was required, they would give us a referral to whomever.

@secicc12 8 weeks isn't too early at all. My shower was about two months before we were due. Do what works for you and those hosting. Just be prepared for the comments like "oh wow, you're so small/big" no matter when you have it. People don't know how to shut their mouths.

Any new symptoms or changes?
Not so much. I feel like my midsection is just getting thicker, like from underboob to fupa. No belly, not really bloat, just all around thick.

Rants/Raves/Questions?
My insurance is the worst. My ob sent in pre-approval paperwork for my 20 week ultrasound. Insurance denied it because I have to be at least 16 weeks for the ultrasound and at the time they were reviewing the paperwork I was only 15 weeks. God forbid they use common sense. It's PRE approval.

GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth?
Beer. An IPA to be specific.

Upcoming appointments this week?
Next week, 16 week appointment. I'm very excited to hear the heartbeat again, it's so hard not to worry when I don't have constant symptoms to rely on.
Any new symptoms or changes?
Feeling more energy!!! Not an enormous SURGE, and I still get tuckered out pretty early, but I don't feel like I'm constantly about to fall asleep!!!
Also heartburn when I lay down

It's just annoying right now, but if it gets worse I'll just prop myself up.

What do you do when you don't look pregnant yet, but the belly is definitely more than just a little pudge pocket? Cover or emphasize? Last week, it was a cute little blump, now it's righteous bloat belly. I wore a zip hoodie all day yesterday.
GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth?
Real beer! I found a pretty good n/a (O'Doul's Amber) that doesn't taste like bread in a glass, but I am looking forward to the real thing again. (I lived in WA for 7 years, we like our craft beer.)

Upcoming appointments this week?
Had one yesterday- checked the heartbeat which was 155 and asked how I was feeling and that was it!

Any new symptoms or changes?
Yes I've been quite emotional. Yesterday I was on and off crying all afternoon and idk why. I just felt sad and like crying. Couldn't even stop myself even though I tried.

Rants/Raves/Questions?
2 things- a few days ago at 16+5 I felt the baby move for the first time and it was the most amazing thing ever. I cried about that too lol. Also I LOVE looking down and seeing my little baby bump. Love it.

GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth?
I really want a ham or turkey sandwich!

Super sore today. Did you realize I would get winded chasing my rider around the kids museum.

DH patted my fat that baby pushed up. I told him it was fat & not baby. Bend to tell him baby was beneath my button. He called it disgusting.
Sort of pissed, sort of hurt. I started at a healthy BMI 13 lbs down from my first pregnancy and am already double the size then I was with #1. Not the best for a pregnant ladies self esteem.

@bumpybump thanks for the info on using a family doctor. Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to use my family doctor as I just called and was told they aren't taking new patients.
@secicc12 I don't think 8 weeks is too early. Mine will be 6.5 weeks beforehand.

Upcoming appointments this week? This Friday I have a scan with MFM, and then my OB on Monday.

Any new symptoms or changes? Standing for a long time kills my feet now. Heartburn is happening more frequently which sucks.

Adult beverages! Of any kind! Wine, beer, margaritas. I'm not picky!!

@Lauradi1010 I don't think guys get it. My husband says to me wow you can see your getting big/pregnant. and sometime I don't know how to take it. I'm sure he doesn't mean it in a bad way, but it can still be upsetting to hear.

I'm so tired today because we had a bunch of storms and tornadoes in the area last night. I live in central IL so it's pretty normal, but there was one tornado just a few miles from our house! Yikes! And we all had to take cover at work yesterday for a while too.

I think I'll be craving a nice cold beer by mid-August

@bubblesmtu Glad you are safe! DH's aunts, uncles, and cousins live in the town that got hammered by a few tornadoes last night. The nursing home his grandma had been in was smashed (she's not there anymore). The damage looks so bad

I saw the pictures of that nursing home! I heard they all got evacuated and no one was hurt there thank goodness! I hope your family is all ok too! I grew up in upper Michigan where there are pretty much zero tornadoes every year so I still get freaked out by them.

Upcoming appointments this week? We have our anatomy scan next Thursday and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED...I can't wait to call it a he or she and not an it!

Any new symptoms or changes? Not really...still nauseous at night but at least some relief during the day

Rants/Raves/Questions? We recently found out 4 of my cousins are getting married and 4 cousins are pregnant (including us) and we are ALL DUE within the same week. It's going to be a BUSY summer. I'm so excited!

GTKY: What is one food/drink you can't wait to have after giving birth? Diet coke....right now it makes me gag. I literally demanded DH run and get me a diet coke about 10 min after I had my first daughter. Yes I know it's awful for me. I'm actually hoping to not go back to drinking it...but that didn't work last time....so...

@bubblesmtu thanks for the concern. They all are ok. I've seen lots of pictures of the devastation on Facebook through them. One of the couples resides in Florida during the winter and aren't up there but have trees all over their yard. Another was driving to work in the storm as she works nights. She was freaking out (rightfully so).
I grew up in an area prone for tornadoes (NE Indiana) and have lived in the MidWest for most of my life. Yet tornadoes are something I hope to never experience! We get our fair share of watches and warnings where I live now.

Any new symptoms or changes? I'm still constantly exhausted and hungry! Starting to feel flutters, which is awesome!

I do have a question for any team green moms out there. If you are team green this time around (or you've got more than one kiddo and you've done the team green thing with a sibling) - how do you plan (or how did you) prepare your kiddo for the new baby without having a name/sex? My DH and I were team green with DS, but he will be 2.5 when this kiddo comes along and I'm not sure how to really get him ready without knowing boy or girl.

@MrsD4911 DD is currently 2.5 and will be 3 once LO arrives. We just tell her she'll have a brother or sister and always talk about her sibling being either a brother or sister. She'll normally chose to say "brother" or "sister" when she talks about the baby so she seems to understand it could be either one.

@bumpybump - Okay! I'm just nervous that DS won't bond as well without a name and such, but I guess people did it this way for centuries! With his age, I worry about jealousy and I want to make sure I do everything I can to lessen it as much as possible!
