WTF today goes to my dad. He is driving me INSANE. The man is barely capable of finding his own nose. A 15 minute errand takes him an hour because he can't pay attention and actually listen to directions. He blames Siri... I don't know how my mom survives living with him. My mobile Starbucks order will now be warm and cold when it should be cold and hot. Grrrrrr.
WTF mother in law? We told her via text with our reveal picture that we were having a girl and she texts my husband and says "great another important grandparent announcement via text, course with us I guess we should be happy we were told at all" she is the most ridiculous person I know. Every single detail that has been sent to any of our other parents about our DS or with this pregnancy has also been sent to her at the exact same time??? I guess she needs to know when we poop and pee and eat throughout the day to feel truly connected
@becky012016 I would hope @lap018's MIL wouldn't require in-person (or digital!!!) updates of a dilating cervix! yikes!

WTF public health. Why must you decide that lice is just a nuisance. Its ridiculous. Children are allowed to attend school with live bugs and nits in their hair. This is why it spreads so fast and why we can't get rid of it.

Funny story about lice. When I was 6th grade, my brother, who was in 1st grade, got lice. We went to a private school at the time, so we were in the same building, and I found out about it at recess. So I was looking at my hair, and became so convinced I had lice, I made them check my hair five times before my teacher finally told me to stop interrupting the class and sit down. Um, it turns out all those things I thought were lice were actually split ends. I saw white things clinging to the ends of my hair, and just assumed they were lice.
@daniellelynette I feel so awful for you. I'd lose every ounce of my shit if my dishwasher was broken. Mine works and I still have dirty dishes all over the counter because that's how lazy I am.

Yeah I'm actually pretty embarrassed about how my kitchen is right now. Ughhhhh. I really gotta get it taken care of tonight.
I haven't stopped itching my head since I started reading this post I am irrationally scared of lice. We had a scare at work last year and the person that had it was training me and we would swap sitting in each other's chairs. I was freaking out. We were supposed to be working overtime on a Friday and i just didn't come in bc I was so scared. Made my husband get tea tree oil and a lice kit just in case.
WTF nausea/diclegis?!? Dr is weaning me off of diclegis, only taking one pill at night for 2 days and my nausea is back. Not as bad but it's strong enough not to want most food. Not sure if it's PG nausea or "withdrawal" from the medicine.
My WTF Wednesday goes to this restaurant I ordered lunch from. It was an Asian bistro sit down restaurant and I paid 15 dollars for my meal and a couple spring rolls. I ordered chicken teriyaki. But what came was NOT restaurant quality chicken. It was fatty, gristley low quality chicken meat that you would expect for a hole-in-the-wall cheap Chinese fast food restaurant. My stomach has been turning ever since.
@lap018 What were you supposed to do... tell her in person? Send a carrier pigeon? I don't get her...
@kailapop It is so bizarre to me that some schools just let kids stay with lice. Here, it is up to each school system what their policy will be. Our superintendent (thankfully) has kept the nit-free policy all schools used to have. We check heads every other Friday, and if we find bugs or nits, they are sent home and can't come back to class without being cleared by the school nurse.
We had some bad storms move through this afternoon, which had the potential for damaging winds, hail, or small tornados. Up until 11:00 this morning, the line of severe weather stopped the county above my school. At 11:00, they moved it down to include us, and school boards got the call to dismiss early. They told my principal at 11:15 that we needed to have every kid fed and ready to put on buses at 11:45. This is an elementary school with over 700 kids... not even 1/2 of which had been fed lunch. Not to mention, we were supposed to call parents to make sure someone would come get them, or be home when the bus came by.
WTF colleague who asked me, POINT BLANK, if I'm pregnant. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and maybe starting to show, but I'm still in my own clothes, so it can't be THAT dramatic. I'm still reeling from how rude she was. She apologized later but sheesh.
Ugh. I hate the "Call all the parents. The kids are going home in the middle of the day." decisions. We did this TWICE in one school year because of water issues with the city and having 1. No drinking water available and 2. No running water to flush toilets. The high school brought in ports potties. The elementary school a block away (us) had to empty out the building. Calling 25 sets of parents while distracting those 25 kids to make the calls is nearly impossible and exhausting. Plus, half the parents have the school number blocked because of the "on your time, it's your problem" mentality.

@awildrose Wait. "on your time, it's your problem"? Like do they think the school is just calling them for shits and giggles? Do they not want to know if their kid gets injured or has a high fever or there is some sort of safety concern? Why on earth would someone block the school number. I just don't get it.

It is mind blowing to me. I taught kindergarten in an inner city school for 5 years...we would have kids throwing up, hit their head, break an arm... couldn't get in touch with ANYONE! Some people will leave their 5 year olds with strangers and give us no way of even calling. A first grader had seizures a few years ago and the principal went with her in the ambulance, because they couldn't contact anyone.
It is always mind blowing to me. And heartbreaking. Unfortunately, so many people view public school as their free babysitter. I've sat with my principals and students before for upwards of a couple hours after school let out waiting for parents who didn't show up for pick-up (repeatedly) and couldn't get a working number or answered phone call.

Not anyone's fault... but it was a disaster.
