  • @georgiagirl3050 I know you just introed on the Feb thread, feel free to copy/paste or re intro here if you want!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm feeling more relaxed this cycle. Now that we have our appointment with the RE booked (May 15) it's kind of just whatever until we get there. We're still trying but I'm not freaking out over it anymore since I'm hoping we'll have more answers or at least a more definite plan soon. I've been trying to focus on improving myself this cycle, both mentally and health wise.

Any questions? Not at the moment!

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!) going back to school. I have my bachelors but I'm not passionate about my field. I want to go back to nursing school but don't want to be pregnant in school with a toddler at home. I want to wait until DD is in kindergarten so my parents will only have one kid to watch during the day but who knows if/when we'll have another at this point.

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant?

Weight loss. I keep half assing it because "what's the point if I'm just going to get pregnant" but that's such a lame excuse and I'm over it. I need to get my ass moving more.

Any thoughts about this cycle?  This cycle is driving me nuts.  I didn't temp, because we decided to try only about 2 weeks ago.  I had all the symptoms of O, assumed I did.  A week later, I was super crampy, and realized I felt like I was about to O.  Since my period would be late for the first round, it must have happened the second.

    Any questions? Bone

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!) Nothing really, maybe a vacation, because I would have to horde my hours if I get pregnant this or next month
  • What number are you trying for?  2

    Cycle/Month:  7/7

Other children at home:  DS, who will be 4 in two weeks

Any thoughts on this cycle?:  Feeling ok - since I'm AMA and passed the 6 cycle mark, I got some bloodwork done at the OB's office which all came back normal.  I'm using OPKs this cycle (OB said try 3 more cycles with OPKs regularly and if I'm not KU at the end of it we'll get more aggressive). I'm happy to have a plan in place!

    No questions

GTKY:  I'm like @Karrotelle I've been putting off losing weight, but I feel that may be hindering things so I've started back up at the gym and am making better food choices.

@TravelingCouple I have thought a lot about it.  I never thought I'd only have one child either, I always wanted a big family.  I don't feel as though our family is complete yet, but I think if all we are blessed with is DS, that will be it for us (no adoption and honestly I'm not sure if DH would agree to IVF if it came to that... I would do IUI - they are covered by my insurance)

@shortstack930 It feels good to have a plan in place, I know it definitely helps me feel like I'm not just stuck spinning my wheels!

It's CD 1 and my last two cycles in a row have been regular and ovulatory, so I think everything's back to normal after birth and breast feeding

Nothing, I'm the other way around - putting off TFAS so I can finish grad school, get a job, and move.
  • What number are you trying for? My 2nd, my FI’s 1st.

Cycle/Month?  This is cycle 14, but cycle 2 with the RE.

Other children at home? Ages (if you want to share)?  My son is 6 years old

Any thoughts about this cycle?  This cycle, like every cycle, I’m feeling guilty for putting so much time and energy into this when I have a little boy at home who needs me.  He has serious medical issues and is often hospitalized – so that makes TTC challenging.  Especially now that we’re doing IUI’s, there are so many appointments for ultrasounds and bloodwork and everything, I  just worry that he’s being shortchanged.

Any questions? What (if anything) do you change about your daily life when you’re actively TTC?  When we started out, I tried to do everything by the book, but 14 cycles in it’s hard to make myself believe it matters.  I do take my prenatal and folic acid (I was born with a NT defect and am a little crazy about this), and I’m off of the meds that I take for migraines that are known to cause birth defects – but otherwise, meh.  Enjoying my diet coke/cheesy popcorn lunch as we speak, and popping Excedrin Migraine like it’s my job.  Getting pregnant will be a rude awakening I guess.

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!)  This is so stupid, but I’ve been putting off buying new jeans.  I have gained weight over the past year and really should invest in some better-fitting pants, but I keep putting it off, hoping I can just buy some maternity jeans.  On the other side of it, I guess I’ve also been putting off getting serious about losing the weight.  I need to lose about 20-25 pounds and I just haven’t had the focus to do it.

@shortstack930  – I felt like getting started with the RE put me in a much better state of mind.  Hope it goes well for you!

  • @pawcall I relate to so much of what you wrote. I have the same worries with my DS, as so much of my time is spent TTC (looking something up online, talking on the phone about it with friends, posting here, thinking about it 10 hours out of a 12 hour day.. etc, etc, etc) that I also worry that I'll look back in 5 years and regret not being more intentional about enjoying my time now with just DS and I during the day. I've really tried to balance it as best as I can by setting the times that I'll come online here (during his nap) and try to leave my phone aside when he's awake. It's hard though. I can imagine it's intensified when your DS is dealing with medical issues on top of that.

I've been trying to also give myself grace in the sense that I need to realize that right now, this is a huge part of my focus. My son will of course always trump everything else, but the fact of the matter is that sometimes I'll spend less time with him than if I weren't having to run through all these hoops to get pregnant. And it's ok. It just it what it is. We put so much pressure on ourselves (and I know I certainly do, so I'm preaching to myself here first and foremost) but I think it's ok to realize that sometimes things are not ok and having it take so long to get pregnant and have to see an RE and go through medicated cycles is never something any of us wished or planned to happen. I am sure your DS knows how much you love him, just as mine does. And that the time spent apart for TTC purposes or when your mind is just preoccupied- it just is what it needs to be for where you are right now.

I've definitely been at points where I feel what's the point in taking so many vitamins and trying to eat healthy. I have been pretty consistent with my PNV though because that is just worth it. This cycle I've also been consistent with adding in CoQ10 to help with egg quality. Other than that, it depends how I'm feeling that day. My poor DH is sick of hearing me say "Ok we're eating healthy now!" only to ask him to pick up something sweet a few days later.
  • @TravelingCouple nursing school is only two years so not that long, but it's a consistent full time commitment so I can't just take some classes and come back later or take a semester off if I get pregnant which makes it a little tougher to plan out. I feel the same way you do about our family. I always planned on a big family so being one and done was never really something I thought would happen. If we go through the RE and our only choice is IVF then we will probably look into adoption. I always thought about adopting a child at some point but I liked the idea of adopting an older kid from foster care when my other kids were a bit older. But I'm open to adopting a baby/older child if we can't conceive again. DH thinks spending the money on IVF when it's just a chance isn't worth it and would rather spend the money on a guarantee, which adoption would give.

@Karrotelle I said the same thing all last year about losing weight. I need to lose about ten pounds but I kept saying what's the point when I'm just going to gain it again when I get pregnant. Well here I am at cycle 15 and I finally got myself in gear and started working out again.

@pawcall thanks! I totally get what you mean about this TTC business distracting you from your son. I always worry that I'm getting too depressed, too distracted, and I'm not giving DD the attention she deserves. I make a point to only bump when she's watching her morning cartoon and then not again until she's napping or sleeping for the night and I try to put my phone away so that she has my attention. I'm trying so hard not to let TTC consume my life and I feel like I've been better at it this cycle now that I'm focusing less on TTC and more on trying to better myself. I can't imagine how hard it must be trying to deal with all of the appointments for yourself plus your sons health issues. I hope you can find a balance that works for you but I agree with @TravelingCouple that our kids know how much we love them even if we are a bit distracted sometimes.

  • @shortstack930 I've been having those same thoughts about IVF vs adoption, chance vs guarantee. We'll do as many rounds of medicated/IUI cycles as we can before we decide on that, but I definitely hear you. And it makes sense to wait on nursing school!

Cycle/Month? Ok so, trying for my first was so stressful (though we didn't struggle with IF, so I know many others even just on here have already a more stressful time than I did- it's not fun) and took all the fun out of sex. I've always had issues with every type of BC I've ever been on, too. We aren't in an "ideal" position for 2.0 yet, but I really want an "oopsies", as in not really trying, kinda preventing until we decide we are more readying and then less preventing. Anyway, this is gonna be me: Every cycle will be my first cycle trying so I can say we got KU on the first try lol.

Other children at home? Ages (if you want to share)? I have a daughter named Eden that just turned one a few weeks ago <3

Any thoughts about this cycle? We are currently starting our 3rd first try ;-) but H is working a lot this month so meh.

    Any questions?

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? Going on vacation. Buying a new house (actually this is probably something that will more likely happen after we get pregnant)

  • We're TTA for two more months, but I'm getting in TTC mode, so I'd love to join the check in if you'll have me!  I'll intro in the newbie intro thread in May, once we're actively TTCing.  (I've been lurking for a couple months.)  Anyway, hi!  Love this community!

What number are you trying for?  2

    Cycle/Month?  TTA until May

Other children at home? Ages (if you want to share)?  I have a DD who's just about to be 13 months.

Any thoughts about this cycle?  Other than I wish we could TTC already?  Nope!  ;)

Any questions?  Can anyone recommend a brand of prenatals?  I started my old ones last week (Walgreens brand with DHA) and they caused some stomach issue.  (My stomach has been much more sensitive since DD was born, for whatever reason.)  Any recs?  Ideally, I'd like the kind with iron.  Thanks!!

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!)  Dying my hair!  I really want to dye my hair bright red just to see what it would look like, but since my hair is dark it would require bleaching it first and the roots growing out would be very noticeable, so I don't want to launch into a high maintenance hair dying routine if I'm (hopefully) about to be pregnant again.
  • @maureenmce I like the New Chapter Perfect Prenatals (with iron and a probiotic).  It's a whole food vitamin and I find it to be very gentle on the stomach.  (You can get them on Amazon.)

  • @maureenmce I take the Rainbow Light mini tablets, also a food sourced multivitamin. They are much easier on the stomach. Take with food too if you're getting queasy and that might help.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm just all over the place right now- temp staying elevated, spotting on and off(I typically spot for a few days before AF), negative tests. I'm 11 DPO so just waiting at this point. I'm getting my hopes up bc of my temp still being raised. Guess we will see

    Any questions? Nada!

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!)
spending money on a workout program. She has a regular program and one if you're pregnant. So why would I get the regular one to only do it for a week until I'd wait until I delivered (I've said this for months...)

  • Thanks, @KatieEl @TravelingCouple and @RVAmom315 !  I'm actually heading to Target on my lunch break, so I'll check out the Spring Valley ones.  The other options sound awesome too!  Thanks for the advice.  :)

Like a lot of others, getting in better shape. My clothes were a little snug, but I put off fixing that because it seemed silly if I got pregnant. Well, my January hit pretty hard and I ate a lot of my feelings, so those snug clothes turned into not fitting clothes. I just started going to the gym regularly again, took up yoga, and am doing Whole30 for the month of March.

Other children at home? Ages (if you want to share)? Two girls, almost 3 and almost 1

Any thoughts about this cycle? Just got a postive OPK, so it's go time. I was worried I wouldn't O around my "normal" time (day 17-23ish) this month and I'm leaving Thursday morning to go to a conference without DH, so I'm hopeful this cycle won't be a bust now.

    Any questions? no

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!)
Definitely losing weight and getting back into shape.  I held onto about 5 lbs after my first pregnancy, and about 10 lbs after my second, so I'm at least 15 lbs over where I want to be.  But I keep telling myself that it's not worth all that work if I'm just going to get pregnant again...

Any thoughts about this cycle? I think I'm not stressing a lot about TTC, just the other regular stuff like money and other dumb every day stuff.

    Any questions? Not really

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!) I booked a cruise at the end of April, so if I don't get pregnant before that, I'd be ok with it.  I'd like to drink on the cruise, but if I don't then I save money, so its a win win, right?  lol

Any thoughts about this cycle? I know I've missed a few days so FF isn't going to be giving me CH's I'm sure, but I'm having a hard time reading into my own temps this cycle. Also, I'm really tired of losing steam by the time we get to our window. It never fails that one or both of us gets sick or work is so crazy that we're both just too exhausted

    Any questions? not really

GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!) There's some crazier weight loss stuff that I've done in the past that worked, but it's not something that I want to be doing if I end up KU. But I would probably have a better chance of getting KU if I would lose some freaking weight....

  • Hi ladies! Jumping in after a few months of lurking the board..

What number are you trying for?
    #2
    Cycle/Month? 4th cycle, 5th month
Other children at home? Ages (if you want to share)? 2.5 year old son
Any thoughts about this cycle? Nothing yet, just wishing O wasn't so far away (the end of next week)
    Any Questions?
GTKY: What's something you've been thinking about doing/planning but keep putting off in case you get pregnant? (So we can encourage each other to do it!) I'm a runner and would like to sign up for another long race (either a half or full marathon). But I ran a half 20 weeks pregnant last time and the soreness after that was wayyyyy worse than after giving birth. While I know I will continue to run through another pregnancy, I don't know that I want to put myself through that kind of training again. We've also been putting off a couples trip to Vegas with some friends... My mom and I booked a trip to England 2 days before I POAS last time, so I feel like we just need to book it and I'll end up KTFU.
  • Have any of you thought about when to tell your other children when you get pregnant?

We are TTC #3. When we became pregnant with #2, #1 was only 2. So we waited to tell her until I was about 20ish weeks. She didn't really get it anyway. If we are fortunate enough to get pregnant soon, #1 will be 5 and #2 will be 2. We aren't sure when to tell them. I wouldn't say anything until we are ready for everyone to know because I can't trust a 5 year old not to tell people lol but I wasn't sure if waiting longer is a better idea?
