NBR: Anybody Want to Talk Politics?

I am legit scared for the future that is being shaped by Donald Trump and his cronies. I feel like we are moving backward.

  • I am also afraid...
Move to Canada! We are nice people with a handsome Prime Minister...who is not a huge jack ass.

  • Haha, I am pretty sure my mom has Canadian citizenship, and we are not too far from Canada, but for now I am hoping we will ride it out and not too much damage will be caused.

The other day, I found myself thinking maybe things were evening out, but then I realized that I have been listening to an audiobook instead of the news on my commute and I was just uninformed. Sad, scary, and shocking.

  • I actually wrote both senators from my state. I'm a special ed teacher and felt like it was my duty to put in my two cents about the women now in charge of education. I got nothing but condescending responses after the vote for her. I changed my political party for this election and now I know it was the right thing to do.
  • If only it were so easy to move to another country! My dh and I would love to live abroad, we have traveled to many places. One time I did look up how to emigrate to Scotland,  unfortunately unless you are a student or filling a job for a company (that has to prove that they were unable to find a Scottish citizen to fill btw) you cant. I think it may be difficult to emigrate to Canada as well. Idk what the policies are for the UK or Australia but those are also on our list of "would love to live" places.

So yeah, we'll be riding out the storm too.
  • I find the whole thing absurd. I'm Canadian but have been following the election since last February when I was on hospital bedrest and had the option of watching CNN or MTV Europe. I remember thinking that there was no way Trump would succeed during the primaries, nevermind POTUS. I work with a lot of Americans and there were people legit crying the day after the victor was announced. All the Americans I know IRL are Democrats so of course I only get that perspective. There is so much about Americanness that is mysterious and unknown to me.

I am a teacher as well, and wrote to my senators, and got no response whatsoever.
