    How far along are you?
    17 weeks

    How big is baby? Pomegranate

Upcoming appointments this week? Had one on Monday. Everything looked good and we discussed VBAC potential (positive discussion).

Any new symptoms or changes? More headaches lately. Can also feel a "heaviness" in my belly when doing yard work like cleaning out flower beds.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Really enjoyed the warm weather that we had and spent a ton of time outside. Now snow tomorrow :(

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Debra on "Everybody Loves Raymond."  I'm a SAHM who isn't afraid to speak her mind and I can't stand my ILs.

    How big is baby?
an avocado!! I feel like I've been waiting on this one forever (I'm slightly obsessed with avocados!)
    Upcoming appointments this week?
Ultrasound tomorrow!!!! Can't wait to see my little girl!!
    Any new symptoms or changes?
My emotions have kicked up to a whole new level this week.  I have cried at least good long cry daily.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Loving having my energy back!! I'm still semi tired, but I no longer need to take a 3 hour nap when I get home then go to sleep for the night 2 hours after that!
GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Ummmm my mind is drawing a blank right now!

How big is baby? Apparently an onion. I forgot my phone at home and didn't get to look at the update on the app today. Bummer.

    Upcoming appointments this week? Nope

Any new symptoms or changes? So, I got on the treadmill last night, and oh my god. Lower back ache, lower abdomen ache. I'm just pissed about the sapping of my energy and endurance. I ran a 9min/mile marathon at the end of 2015, and now 20 minutes at 5mph on a flat treadmill is terribly hard. This is booo-shit.
Guess I'm sticking to the elliptical and stairmaster from now on? I ran over 4 miles outside just a few days ago (gorgeous weather!) and had no issues.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Heh see above for rant. I'm going to keep doing my best though. DH pointed out during pregnancy you just get an "A" for effort, don't pay attention to the numbers or the weight and do what feels like a decent workout.

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
I really don't think I can relate to anyone, and for me, that's the point of escaping into television or movies. I'm probably most able to identify with someone like Rory Gilmore, aside from the coming from a rich family and going to an Ivy school thing. It's more that I was a good kid who worked hard at school, had hard working parent(s), and was fairly introverted, and had long relationships with nice-but-not-Mr.-Right guys.
I also never cheated on anyone or with anyone, but Rachel from the book Something Borrowed is definitely a relate-able character.

"Everybody Loves Raymond"- my close friend can't stand her in-laws either. One day, said ILs decided to buy the house right behind theirs in their neighborhood! My friend pitched a huge fit to her husband (who luckily takes her side on IL grievances) and her husband talked his parents out of buying the house. They lost their earnest money. I called it their Everybody Loves Raymond situation because she was furious her ILs thought they could just barge in on their lives and be over at their house whenever they wanted and how great it would be to be neighbors. Hellll no. (They've since moved out of state and rarely see the parents, to my friend's great relief.)

  • @DeansGirl14 one of my huge fears is the ILs moving to our area. They are currently 4ish hrs away, which is great, but they still drive me up the wall!  FIL will retire in four years and anytime a house is built around us, he asks who the builder is and if they are good. If they move into our area I know they will be over all the f-ing time and we will be setting tons of boundaries. Being a SAHM will probably make it worse because they'll think I'm home all the time but I'm not so yeah, don't just show up. And no, they will not be getting any keys to our house either.

  • @DeansGirl14 I would absoutley die!! We lived with my ILs for almost 6 months, just moved back into our house a month ago.  After we moved out MIL sent us a text with a picture of the house next to them up for sale and told us to buy it....ummm not just no, but hell no!
@bumpybump I am dreading having my in laws around when little one is born.  MIL has no boundaries or filter, so I just know she's going to be telling me different ways I should feed, change, parent, etc the baby.  I've already told DH that I don't want the mover much after baby is born, I just want my mom.

How big is baby?  An avocado

Upcoming appointments this week?  Had one yesterday - scheduled the AS (YAYYYY!!!) and got put on a z pack for a nasty chest infection I haven't been able to shake.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
No and I wish there were haha, I haven't been FEELING pregnant this week....so it was definitely a relief to hear a good, healthy heartbeat yesterday.  I think it's just been the whole sick as hell thing.....everything feels off.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave - we got to 'hear' the baby kick quite a bit yesterday; he or she apparently did not like the doppler!

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Uhhhhh, maybe both Gilmore girls?? I know that's two -but Lorelai or Rory, depending on the situation.  Rory in that I was the straight-A kid (just no Ivy leagues for this girl!), Lorelai in that I'm a bit more laid-back about life in general.

  • @bumpybump, I was addicted when it first came out and religiously watched the first 4 seasons.  When it showed up on Netflix, I rewatched and then watched the whole series, including the new 4 part show.  It does get a bit annoying to me....Rory needs to figure her shit out, but it was alot of fun (at least for me, I do know people who've found the show awful) to watch.

How big is baby? Avocado or navel orange...

Upcoming appointments this week? Seeing endocrinologist on 3/1, making sure my thyroid is cooperating, next appt with midwife is 3/13...

Any new symptoms or changes? headaches! For like the last 10 days, I'm waking up with bad headaches, doctor said its normal and take tylenol. Ughh...where's all this "energy" you're supposed to have? I'm having about 8 hours of sleep, and can use more!

Rants/Raves/Questions? My sisters visiting this weekend, and we're going maid of honor dress shopping. Her wedding is one month AFTER my due date, what  size should i get? I'm thinking an extra cup size up and making sure they can turn a dress around in 2 weeks...

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Hmm, I don't watch too much TV. I guess I would be Lilly from How I Met Your Mother. She's into having fun, but puts family first. She has close relationships and knows how it's important. The way her and Marshall interact remind me of me and my hubby. But we're not over the top gushy. However, I'm not too nosy and into everyone's business.

I have a cold, which stinks, but nothing else.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I haven't posted in a week or two because life has been crazy at home, but I'm glad to be back!
GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
I must not watch enough tv because I cannot think of someone! Maybe I should shut off the toddler tv?

@bumpybump I'm not too fond of my inlaws either. People here some of my stories and can't believe they're true. And... I can't believe you haven't seen Gilmore Girls!

@DeansGirl14 Running is much different when prego! I tend to stick to the ellpitcal and weight training when pregnant. And as your DH said, I think most people are just impressed to see pregnant ladies at the gym!

@NatSprat0703 I totally agree- my mom was allowed over after the baby was born but hell no to the inlaws! My mom actually helped with labor (my husband preferred this) so she was around a lot. I nursed my first and my MIL keep asking if she could give the baby a bottle at 1 week. Um no... I have not pumped a drop yet crazy lady.

@caity024 Where do you find gel for your doppler? And Hope you feel better!!
  • How far along are you? 13 weeks! Almost out of first tri

How big is baby? lemon or jalapeno

Upcoming appointments this week? 12 week appt tomorrow

Any new symptoms or changes? Headaches, skin is breaking out, and today my allergies have flared up (I think because of the warm weather)

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: Still waiting 2+weeks for our genetic screening results. We're not finding out the sex and I'm not AMA, but I have genetic disorders in my family so I've been a nervous wreck that they're taking so long. Hoping for good results on initial tests at the doc tomorrow too! Rave: Excited to finally hear baby's heartbeat! As long as we get good news from the doc, I'm telling all my co-workers next week, which will be a huge relief!

I just had one.  Met a new doctor at the practice- turns out he's a regular customer of my company.  That will be weird later on.  But I got to hear that wonderful heartbeat :)
    Any new symptoms or changes?
    Those joyous headaches and heartburn.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I swear, if my MIL asks one more freaking time if it's a boy or a girl, I'm going to lose it.  We have told her several times that we aren't finding out and she just won't take that for an answer.  Or if she asks one more freaking time if we've picked out names yet, I won't be able to be nice anymore.  She sends a ton of name suggestions ONE. AT. A. TIME. via text.
GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Maybe Robin from How I Met Your Mother, but it might be because I just freaking love that show and it's all I watch.
  • @Kudlica27 I saw your question about the Doppler gel,  for mine I just use some clear Aloe gel from last summer's sunburns and it works great! And it's cheap!
  • @jacksonbears it's really hard to say what size you'll need. If you lose the baby weight/water like I did after DD, it'd need to be up a decent amount. But if you are like all these new moms at DD's play dates, you hardly need much of a size difference. Everyone gains and loses so differently. I'd ask what the store recommends.

@NatSprat0703 @Kudlica27 if my MIL was at our house after the baby is born, I'd lose it. A little background, DH was adopted so she never had to deal with a recovery, breastfeeding, bleeding, etc. We set CLEAR expectations after DD was born and will do the same this time.  Maybe this will be true for you as well, but as the new mom, I was able to "rule" it all since I was the one the baby depended on. I made rules like no being in the hospital room while I was nursing (it was enough stress that I didn't need them there) and I carried this into at home, etc. They weren't allowed at our house once we were home with the baby, etc.

  • @MrsVP614 It is so good to hear the heart beat! And my allergies have flared up too. I don't know about you, but I'm hoping it doesn't turn into something worse. Being sick when pregnant is the worst!

@maryallisont Awesome! I couldn't find the clear aloe in the store so I just ordered off of amazon. As a PGAL mama, I can't wait to hear the heartbeat. And with my first, my MIL was the same. She insisted we knew the gender and name when we didn't. It was such a pain.

@bumpybump my MIL didn't come to the hospital with my first because she was at her lake house on the beach. Considering my newest will be born in August, I am thinking there is a good chance it could happen again! (Thank God)

  • Thanks @bumpybump, yeah, I'm not sure how my body will react. Everyone said my cup size will definitely be bigger. At least it's a long chiffon dress...

this is kind of a package deal, but my husband and I are Phil and Claire on modern family.
  • @taylormarie923 DH and I always compare ourselves to Claire and Phil!!!
@bumpybump My DH is adopted as well, as is his sister, so my MIL also never had to go through the whole post partum, BF, recovery thing either.  I am also adopted, but my mom carried a baby full term who didn't survive past 7 weeks, so she at least knows alot of the process.  I really hope DH is understanding and lets me rule the roost in terms of visitors!
@Kudlica27 I can totally see my MIL doing that.  I can also see her feeding my baby ice cream at like 6 months.  Gaaaa just the thought of the damn woman sends me up a wall!!

My energy is slowly coming back. I stay very busy during the day so I'm still tired in the evenings after work, but at least I can function rather than feeling like a bag of sand.

round ligament pain is serious as is the pubic bone pain after sitting...

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Both in the same sentence: The weather is beautiful and warm here but it's supposed to be awful this weekend.

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
Monica from Friends. I am super competitive, slightly neurotic, love to plan and I have the most rational thinking amongst my friends. I'm also very career driven and looking be my family although it's weird with my parents lol. She is my spirit animal.

    Upcoming appointments this week?
I had my 16wk yesterday!  During my ultrasound my doctor asked if I knew if it's a boy or girl yet and I told her my husband is planning on coming to my 20 week appointment and we'll find out together.  But it was SO hard when she had me look away during the ultrasound of the legs/crotch of baby - apparently you can tell at 16 weeks!  (FTM, didn't know that!)  4 weeks feels like forever to wait now.  But it'll be nice to find out together. <3

    Any new symptoms or changes?
Apparently diarrhea is not a pregnancy symptom, so my OB wants to me see my PC since I've had it off and on my entire pregnancy.  My insurance changed though, so have to find a new PC...

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I made a special trip to Sprouts to get some probiotics for my stomach issues and when I got home I saw it expired over a month ago!  And now it's snowing like crazy and I have no energy to go back.  So frustrated!

GTKY: What one TV show character can you relate to the most? Why?
DH and I say Jim & Pam from The Office.

  • I'm sad/sorry so many of you have such bad relationships with your in laws. I am very fortunate to have a fabulous relationship with both my side and my husband's side. I did not allow either side into the delivery room but wanted them all to be able to visit after delivery, and again at home (with some limits of course). It's such an exciting time for all involved and I'm sure a lot of the questions and comments are just because they are ultra excited. We just laid out expectations ahead of time (such as everyone leaving the room if I needed to breastfeed) and everyone was very understanding.
  • @Kudlica27  I woke up today without any allergy issues, so hopefully it was just a flare up. It's supposed to get cold again here this weekend, so that may help.

Update: I got my genetic screening results FINALLY (after 2.5 weeks) last night. Negative! Very low risk for chromosomal abnormalities, including Turners Syndrome, which my aunt has. I feel so relieved!

Same here. Not only do DH and I love each others' parents (and they love each of us), our parents get along like white on rice and actually do things like brunch together.

I did tell DH that nobody but him is with me during labor and delivery, but they're welcome to visit once things are settled. At home, I'll take any help from the parents I can get! My MIL is a nurse too; if I'm home alone on maternity leave I'd really appreciate her company in particular. They respect our boundaries.

I'll jump on the IL wagon! My MIL is... ugh!! We don't know what the gender is yet. MIL wants a girl... and she will not stop patting my belly and referring to the baby as she/her/etc. It is so annoying. Calling it "she" isn't going to make it a girl. We are finding out the gender (maybe) in a couple of weeks, but we are making her wait until our co-ed shower/reveal party. She proved already that she cannot keep a secret after telling our entire church about our pregnancy without our permission while we were out of town.
