I attended my cousins gender reveal over the weekend. After it was announced she's having a girl, my sister commented that she knew it was a girl because when she was pregnant with my niece she had an aversion to coffee. My cousin has the same coffee aversion. (How anyone could make it without coffee is beyond me.) It got me thinking, has anyone else noticed similar cravings and gender correlations with their pregnancies or pregnancies of blood related family member?

There is no way to know by symptoms alone what SEX your baby will be.

Craving ice cream? Probably not, your body likely just needs some Vitamin D and you're getting an order from you brain for Ice Cream because it's more appealing than milk.
Craving a big, juicy burger? Your body probably needs some iron, or protein.
I tested this theory with my last pregnancy and found it to be mostly true. Whenever I craved something shitty I thought about what nutritional aspects it might have and then ate healthier options that provided the same nutrition, 9 times out of 10 this satisfied my craving.
The other 1 out of 10 was cheesecake, and let's be honest, I'd crave that when I wasn't pregnant.
@canonmom413 @bluejeanbabi05 haha, I was waiting for it!
The question isn't around if certain overall cravings = boy vs. girl. Sorry you read it that way. But rather have you noticed similar things between your own pregnancies and those of family members. I know every pregnancy is different. However, family coincidences can lead to some interesting stories.

The point of this was to hear some stories and have fun. Not have the haters come out and be snarky with banging head gifs or "there it is" comments.
And if I want to say "Gender" instead of "Sex" I will. I am aware of the difference. I am also aware, that my child will grow into whoever they want to be, but while they're little, I will dress them by the gender that I think they are. Until they can tell me otherwise.
Stop being ignorant, just use the word correctly if you know the difference.
Also, how do you think Old Wives Tales originated?

As for "people like me" who exactly would that be? I started a thread out of fun, and automatically it appeared as if I had done something wrong. I say "gender reveal" instead of "Sex reveal" and am made out to be a terrible person. The party I was at over the weekend was called a "Gender Reveal". No one gave my cousin, or her wife, any grief over this. I don't have to agree with you over terms. When I was pregnant with my son, gender reveals were becoming more prominent. You didn't say "Sex reveal", you invited them to a "Gender Reveal". Do I agree with the overall stigmas placed by society? No. Did I shut down a family member for trying to shame my three year old for playing with an Elena of Avalor doll? Yes. Did I then buy him the same toy? Yes.
You don't know me. You don't know what I stand for or what I believe. You also cannot gain that much insight over the use of a term.
I also know that instead of attacking each other, we should be supporting each other. We are all hormonal and dealing with our own fears, families, jobs, and issues.

ETA bc it's gone from random question to philosophical debate to talking about chocolate to middle aged greek men
So what you're telling me is that since I crave meat, my baby will grow up to be a hunter. Because mothers of gatherers obviously crave all the veggies!
