Re: STM+ check in 2/24

  • 1.  DS is 20 months

    2. 16 weeks today

    3. Finally getting my energy back. Still having diarrhea randomly.

    4. None till the 15th of next month

    5.  We're redoing our kitchen after 4 years in our house. I'm so excited.

    6. I'm a SAHM, but DH gets 2 weeks paternity leave and has already put in for it based on the day my c section will be scheduled for.

    7.  I rarely ever clothes shop, so I don't know that I have a favorite, I guess it just depends on what I'm shopping for. I do love Target and Hobby Lobby

  • Happy Friday :)

    1.) I have one other child - 2yo girl.

    2.) I'm 14w along

3.) Morning sickness, but diclectin at night has taken care of the morning vomiting, so that's helpful. Now I'm just pretty lazy/unmotivated/bleh all day, lol. My last pregnancy was constant nausea (lived on diclectin to hold food down), and pretty much the same bleh feeling. All in all, not too much difference except no food aversions yet with this pregnancy! I couldn't stand anything tomato-based with my first pregnancy!

4.) No appointments this week :) One last week, and babe's HR was 170!

5.) I find myself judging my body more this time around, which I don't like. It's a baby, I'm starting out with a bit more weight than when I got pregnant the first time, and I'll have years after this pregnancy to get myself back on track with weight. Our bodies and their capabilities are pretty awesome!

6.) I took 6 weeks off when DD was born, and then took her to work with me (I have that luxury, which I'm eternally grateful for). I'm in Canada so I'm entitled to a year off, but I found myself not doing anything but sitting around and letting anxiety get the best of me, so getting back to work for me was good. I love my job, so that helps tremendously :).

GTKY: My favourite place to shop is ......... Hobby Lobby!!!! I am the least crafty person you'll ever meet, but a girl can dream, right??? I did buy DD a plain shirt (from there, for like $2) and then I ironed on one of their little lace pockets. I felt accomplished. Anyway, Hobby Lobby is amazing, so that's my answer.

Looking forward to reading other responses!
  • @SouthernMama15  yay for a good paternity leave.

How many other children do you have? 1 (2.5 DD)

How far along are you? 17 + 1

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Sporadic heartburn and random headaches. Didn't really have either of these much with the first.

    Any appointments this week?
Had one on Monday. Good checkup and discussed VBAC potential with a supportive OB.

    Rant/Rave/Questions
Why must it be so hard to get into a dang preschool here!?!  There are only 15 available spots for 3 year olds in our whole town. I have connections at one of them so we find out today if we get in there. But this is stressful!

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave?
I'm a SAHM and that will continue. DH gets 4 week's paternity leave but I'm not sure that we'll have him take it all at once or spread it out in a 2 weeks chunk and then a couple of 1 weeks of what.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
Amazon. I can look at everything right online and not drag DD to the store.

  • TGIF....so excited this week is over!!!!

I yhave one other child, 11 going on 18 yo daughter. If you believe...pray for me.

    I'm 14 weeks.

I'm still moody, heartburn is annoying, and still having nausea but haven't thrown up all week so that's awesome. I barely remember my first pregnancy but I was so much younger that I felt invincible and now I just feel fat and annoying.

    Appointment tomorrow morning!

Rant/Rave/Questions: I'm so bloated it's disturbing af. Now that I have energy back I want to hit the gym at full speed. My body 12 years ago snapped back the day I had her...just feeling down that I'm already 25+ pounds heavier than my first pregnancy and I'm a be a whale. I can't rant or rave about this to my partner because he'll just say "eat better" or something else dry that a man will say.

I am so looking forward to maternity leave. Started putting a plan down on paper that I plan to present to my supervisor as to how things will run when I'm gone. Still not sure when to tell my staff and supervisor though.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?  I feel like I legit have not been shopping in forever. I can't even think. Haven't been to MAC in months.

    Happy Friday everyone!
  • How many other children do you have? 2 kids (4.5 and 2.5)

How far along are you? 14 weeks

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? A lot of my early symptoms have gone away. I'd say now it's just headache and stuffy nose, which I had with my previous two pregnancies

    Any appointments this week? Today

    Rant/Rave/Questions Nope

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave? I work a PRN schedule for 4 different companies (healthcare) so I don't actually get a real maternity leave because I don't have benefits through my workplaces. So, we are going to put most of our tax return in our savings and then I'll probably start slowly returning to working a half day or so once a week around 8 weeks but not return to a normal schedule until at least 12 weeks when I start the new baby in daycare.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why? Target. One stop shop

  • @bumpybump I fell you on the preschool.  We have a couple in town that are good but I really wanted to get DS into the co-op because it is affordable and I have the time to volunteer because I am a SAHM.  But because it is so affordable and such a good program it is super competitive plus legacies get priority.  We didn't make it in until one of the final rounds of admission and the wait was so stressful.

@Gia W. I weighed myself this morning big mistake.  I didn't take medicine for my morning sickness with DS so I didn't start gaining weight until 18 weeks.  Not so much this time, but totally worth the weight gain not to feel miserable all the time.

How many other children do you have? DS who is 3.

How far along are you?  15 + 6

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
I am still so tired.  I took a 2 1/2 hour nap the other day and was still asleep by 8:30

    Any appointments this week? nope

    Rant/Rave/Questions

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave?
I am a STHM and that will stay the same.  DH has switched jobs since DS was born but he works for the government so I know he ill get something but probably not paid.  I work at DS preschool 1 day a week and have started working out a plan for that.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
The only store in town to really shop at is TJ Maxx which I do love.  If we go to the "big city" about 40 minutes away I am always excited for Target.  There was a point in my life where I had disposable income and lived in San Francisco and would have much more exciting answer but that was so long ago I can't even remember my favorite places to shop.

How many other children do you have? 2 year old daughter

How far along are you? 16 weeks today

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Morning sickness has mostly gone away, still exhausted, some headaches, and some belly stretching pains. Oh and ACNE! Ugh. Pretty similar to last time around this point.

Any appointments this week? Not till the 14th of March, AS on the 27th of March

Rant/Rave/Questions- Double strollers are so expensive!

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave? I'm a SAHM so the only maternity I get will be at the hospital...well and maybe a week or 2 when I get home depending on how much leave my husband still has. Wouldn't have it any other way though, love being home with my girl!

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
Target, has cute stuff, decent prices and a little of everything. Something enjoyable about wondering around there, even with a toddler...starting to dislike the mall for some reason...I use to love to shop but with a toddler things have changed.
  • @bumpybump I agree on Amazon, don't know what I would do without Prime!

How many other children do you have? 1, 4yr old DS

How far along are you? 16+2

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? Less nauseous more heartburn

Rant/Rave/Questions The weather is beautiful here and I'm trying to leave work early!

    Happy Friday y'all!!!

How many other children do you have? I have a 3 year old son

How far along are you? 15 weeks + 6 days

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? Still have that uneasy tummy feeling. Dull, constant uterine cramping. Itchy ITCHY boobies. Rage. So much rage. Thanks, hormones. I am much more emotionally unbalanced this time around. Nothing worrisome but last time, I was just unbothered by mostly everything.

Any appointments this week? I have my 4 month checkup on Monday and then I'll have an early US to see if we can tell if we are having a boy or a girl!

    Rant/Rave/Questions

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave? Yes. I'm fortunate enough to have 6 weeks paid but asked for a few additional weeks unpaid. I wish I could take more time.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why? I love Old Navy and Torrid!! Old Navy usually has great sales and their maternity selection is quite nice. Torrid, while its expensive and for plus-sized women and not maternity, has really comfortable tops and leggings which have transitioned really nicely throughout my pregnancy so far.

  • @shyviolet the preschool I have connections at is legacy and is full except one spot that the family had until today to decide. The other one is a lottery with only four spots. Then the other has 11 spots and registration is Monday morning at 7:00 am. Yet, last year people started lining up at 5:00 am because it's first come, first served. The big thing about these preschools is they have a free 4 yr old program. Once you are in, you're in. So I really want to get DD in one this year but I don't know if it'll happen.

  • How many other children do you have? One step daughter

How far along are you? 17 weeks

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? None really. Intermittent heart burn, fatigue. So much better than first trimester.

    Any appointments this week? Nope

Rant/Rave/Questions: Rant - choosing a baby name. Rave - excuse to eat Girl Scout cookies.

Have you started planning for your maternity leave? Yes, taking 3 months off, unpaid. Looking forward to getting the nicest time of year off of work. Hopefully, we will be a good breastfeeding team so I don't have to worry about that the whole time.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why? Amazon? The grocery store? I feel like I don't really shop anymore.
  • How many other children do you have?
Two. DS is 5 and DD is 17 months.

    How far along are you?
    17w1d

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Symptoms are pretty mild these days, thank God. My biggest complaint is round ligament pain and pain in my pubic bone when I stand up from sitting too long. My first pregnancy was a breeze other than lower back pain. My second was filled with food/smell aversions the whole time.

    Any appointments this week?
Nope. AS two weeks from today, but we already found out it's a boy!

    Rant/Rave/Questions
Rant: The weather has been beautiful but it's supposed to be nasty this weekend. 70 to 30 in 24 hours...

Rave: Yay for my first phase of nesting. I want to declutter, purge and organize everything!! I guess the nasty weather will be a good excuse to get projects done.

Questions: Any other mommas with anterior placentas? I can't feel the jabs, but I feel the big movements like rolling. Anyone else in the same boat?

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave?
Yes and no. I started a company with a colleague so we don't have a policy yet. I also suck at being home so I don't know what I'm going to do.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
I love my craft stores: Joanns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby. I actually went to Hobby Lobby this afternoon to pick out quilt fabric for baby. I'm in love.

Other than that that I like Target and all of its black holeness.

  • How many other children do you have? 2 little boys, 2.5 and 4.5

How far along are you? 16w5d

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? The puking is slowly getting better.  I was on 2 medications to control it and have gotten down to only taking 1. Only puking1-2 a week instead of per day. I've been sick other pregnancies and this one is right in the middle, not as bad as the HG pregnancy but worse than others.

    Any appointments this week?
    Next Wednesday

    Rant/Rave/Questions
I haven't been able to drink coffee because the smells disgusts me. I figured out last weekend that if I have my husband make it before I get up and put it in a travel mug, the smell is muted enough so I can stand to drink it! I was getting caffeine from those Sbux fraps they sell in bottles but those get $$$$. Plus coffee is great for moving things along digestion wise!

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave?
I'm a sahm so no. We are in Canada so DH could theoretically take the full 35 week parental leave, but it's only 55% of your salary so we can't afford for him to take more than a couple weeks. I'm thinking it will be the first 2-3 weeks of September because the oldest will be starting kindergarten and up until that point it's nbd if we just stay home all day.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
Indigo/Chapters (book and lifestyle chain). Books and stationery and home decor and lots of mugs and a train table for the littles, what more could you want?

  • How many other children do you have? 5 cute kiddos (10B / 8B / 6G / 3G / 19monthG)

    How far along are you?
15 weeks, if I'm remembering right.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Still feeling a bit nauseated, which is longer than any other pregnancy for me.  Usually that subsides around 12 weeks for me.

    Any appointments this week?
    Not until March

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave?
I'm already a SAHM... so there's no maternity leave for me.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why?
Just depends on my mood, I suppose.  I'm not a huge fan of shopping, though, in general.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?  Some tightness in tummy/ uterus.  Tingly / burning breasts this week. Naseau is returning.  More food aversions that. Last time.  I do the recall the breasts hurting at this stage.

Any appointments this week? Not for 3 more weeks!

    Rant/Rave/Questions:

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave? Yes, I am a SAHM ,but had a rough C-section recovery last time so DH may take 2-3 months of paternity leave.

Actually glad  I don't have to find a daycare.  It seems so stressful and complicated for some other moms.

Rants/raves? My rant ties into my maternity leave. My boss is moving my job to the UK. I'm not leaving. I've been with the firm for over 6 years and would have gotten 4 months entirely paid. Now I'm scrambling to find another job internally before my end date in April and before I start to show. I'll likely get zero leave if I leave the firm. It's extremely aggravating and frustrating particularly because I think it was done because I had an m/c and he didn't want the liability of a female of child bearing age, he basically made a clear remark pointing that way. My HR department doesn't care and the firm I work for is large, always in the news, and it's really b.s all the diversity garbage they pitch when they still discriminate hardcore against women, and everyone knows it. I guess it's just disheartening and frustrating, I'm 32 and I remember thinking when I graduated college that I'd be part of a generation that wouldn't have to deal with this and it's still a huge issue. I just hope my daughter doesn't has this happen to her when she's my age.
  • @KyCade3013 That's horrifying about your job! Your boss didn't want the liability of having women of childbearing age work for him? Yikes. I hope you find something soon.
Do you by any chance work for Uber? Just curious, because I've read some horrible stories about the sexism there in the news lately.

Any word on preschool?  Where do you live that you get free preschool?  It seems nice but also stressful that there are so few spots.  The nice thing about legacy is once you are in at least you don't need to worry about the next one.

  • @shyviolet we didn't get into the one I really want as of now but the director says a lot can happen between now and August so to not give up hope since we are #1 on that wait list. I'm still going to register at the lottery one this week. I don't think I'm going to stand in a line for 2 hours tomorrow for the other one. 3 yr old preschool is nice but not mandatory or anything. We live in Iowa. Iowa has a grant and the preschools have to meet certain criteria and such to get the free 4 yr old status. But it's so nice to have!

  • I have never heard of Hobby Lobby before! Going to google it shortly!

Also, @LSP87 I could have written those symptoms! Stretching/cramping/peeing has kept me up the past few nights. And I am crying so easily, and snapping more at everybody and obsessively cleaning. I still have food aversions, but they are starting later in the day every week :)

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? The hormones are crazy this go around!

I feel so bad I'm getting so snappy with DD2. She always wants to be held or to cuddle and my abdomen hurts so much all the time and she definitely irritates it. She is such a good, sweet girl though I should love the hugs!

Also, DH is in Munich for 7 days. DD2 doesn't sleep well and he gives in to her every time she cries. I ran a half marathon this morning and am currently falling asleep standing up so I'm so I am so not up to sleep training tonight. I will be praying to the sleep gods...

Have you started planning for your or your maternity leave? Other than telling my boss, no. I work for a big finance company and trained a junior for my last leave - this one should be much easier. I get 12 weeks paid and up to 8 more unpaid. I usually miss one paycheck and then get my butt back to work.

GTKY: What is your favorite store to shop at and why? Online with a good return policy (Amazon or Nordstrom) or online used/vintage/craft sites like Craigslist or Etsy.

  • @bumpybump I wanted to put DD into preschool here too but on base there aren't any options for 3 year olds and off base we can put her into German "kindergarten" but the wait list for my village is bonkers. I mostly just wanted to get her somewhere to socialize a few hours a day but I'm still pretty bummed about it.
