Toddler help?

I'm asking here for any moms who have had toddlers, because I'm desperate!

My 2 year old girl (will turn 3 at the end of April) doesn't sleep at night anymore! She goes to bed fine, but after 10 or 11pm she will wake up every hour or so unless I'm laying next to her. She shares a room with her older brother, who has school so needs his sleep. It's been going on for over a month now! I'm so tired all the time, I hate it. And she's overtired during the day too.

Has anyone gone through something similar and can share some wisdom?

  • No personal experience but my understanding is that the chair method of sleep training works wonders for toddlers.  It's hard when they share a room but if you don't do something it will just keep going.  If you want more details about the chair/shuffle method, let me know.  I can either type it out here or email you the file my sleep consultant sent me.

  • I haven't been through this with my daughters but I really feel for you. That sounds awful! Does she take a nap? If so, maybe try dropping it? Best of luck to you, I hope you start getting more sleep soon!!!

She dropped her nap a while ago, and things went fine after she dropped it, so I don't think it's related to the amount of sleep. It also didn't start during potty training or anything else that people talk about as being a trigger. I wish I could figure out why it was happening, maybe i could help her better

Maybe place a call to her Dr, they might have some suggestions?
  • What time are you putting her to bed, could pushing back bedtime help her with that initial wake up? I'm not sure she's old enough for the clock that tells them with different lights when it's time to get up. My friend uses one for her early riser. Is she scared of the dark or maybe can tell you what's keeping her up? My boys have a diffuser that has a color changing light and you can use just the light and we use that as a night light and it helps with their fear of the dark. I feel like 3ish is when my boys really struggled with being scared of the dark and a regular night light didn't do the trick. Charlotte's still not sleeping through the night and it's killing me so I feel you on the sleep deprivation. I'm about ready to try sleep training but my husband is super against it because it didn't work well with out boys. I hope you can find a solution soon.
