My coworker is sick! I haven't been in the office since Friday and she said she got sick this weekend but now she's better. Hmm no, she sounds awful! She's still sick!!!!
@britvahok I feel like this is reoccurring theme on this board... people's co-workers coming into the office with disgusting colds or coughs. It's so nasty!! You're not a hero for coming into the office...people are actually hating you in their heads.
There's another terrible cold running through our school district. Kids are coming to class sick or with a little sniffle and "my brother is home sick today." Stay home! I don't want your germs!
Also, I know it's colloquially used, but as someone with OCD who is currently having a really hard time because she can't take her meds while pregnant, I hate when people use OCD to mean particular, neat freak, germaphobe, or anal. Not the same thing. (No offense taken, just a big annoyance on top of controlling compulsions and obsessive thoughts)
I woke up this morning after the second rough night of sleep in a row, and came downstairs to supervise morning routine for my youngest girls (13 & almost 10). Lo and behold, the youngest one is like in her bed daydreaming instead of getting dressed and having breakfast, and the older one is eating a baggie full of cheezits for breakfast. WTF?! Are you kidding me?!
I literally make their lunches the night before and lay out their clothing every morning...breakfast is always an assortment of hard boiled eggs, fruit, toast or/cereal...pretty sure I've never offered up cheezits.
@dinofreak I know, I guess I should have used the world anal! I'm a social worker and I've had some actual compulsions that I've had to work through myself, but for some reason I still just use the term so non-chalantly.
@lyse01 That is terrible. I'm so sorry..I hope that doesn't change your mind about the name you wanted. This is exactly why DH are holding off on telling anyone else LO's name until the birth. People are so insensitive!
I'm so sorry @lyse01. I've experienced this with each of my kids when I've revealed their names to family. It's especially hurtful when it's your own mother.
We have chosen Fiona for our baby, but had considered Moira since I actually had a dream about the name. When my fiancé ran the name by his dad, wondering if it was possibly a family name, his response was "She sounds like a bitch." it wasn't our first pick, so I don't feel that we chose Fiona over Moira necessarily, but wtf dude?! If you can't say anything nice..
@thistle8677 Seriously? What a rude thing to say. What if you guys ended up using Moira (which does not sound bitchy to me at all..)? Even when people don't outright say they don't like the name, you still get that response like "Oh...that's nice". Aka - you hate it.
Yea, @secicc12 I personally wouldn't ever be negative about any name someone was considering. It's one of those life lessons...if you invite someone into your process you're gonna hear what they have to say. Not everyone values tact.
My WTF is this damn cold I have. I know the kids brought it home from school. As if the morning sickness & fatigue from this pregnancy isn't enough, I've been flat out bed ridden for the last 3 days. Keep your sick kids home ffs!
@lyse01 My MIL hates the middle name we picked for a girl (Claire). Guess what? DH and I don't give a f. If it's a girl she's gonna learn to love because that's what her grandchild will be called.
Apparently vivid dreams are supposed to happen during pregnancy. My dream last night was about not being able to find Maybelline mascara at the store. I thought the dreams would be cooler.
@everyone I'm already starting to calm down, so better now than at birth, when I'd probably be too tired to do anything but yell obscenities. It's not going to change my opinion that Elinor ("Ellie") is a lovely, classic family name that I love and am excited about. With the middle and last name, the most common response is that it sounds so pretty together and that she sounds like a lady, and my dad's reply was that his Aunt Ellie would be delighted to be remembered. And that's what I need to focus on.
Still, I'm a little bit hoping that my mom has to tell everyone she has a granddaughter named Elinor and hear all her friends adore it.
WTF to several of my students not feeling the need to come to class since the last test. They had a test today and some of these tests are bad. Of course the students that attended did fairly good!
@mango517 you had to drive somewhere? They came to my house! I just called Natera (the company for Panorama) and set up a time/day for someone to come and do the blood draw.
@szwill86@britvahok They gave me the option of getting a home draw or going to their area lab. I choose the lab option because I also needed to get my first tri bloodwork done at my Dr's office. Since the two different labs are seriously less than 5 mins apart I thought I'd just knock them both out during one trip.
I thought wrong.

WTF to my friends that think I wanna chit chat on the phone....no thanks! Text me and let's be done with it. I work both of my jobs on Wed (and I repeatedly tell them Wed is not a good day lol)...today is my 12 hr day, I have raging heartburn, weird growing pains and I'm extra moody. Sorry not sorry to the people that hate texting and want to have drawn out convos.
@lyse2143 I had always said my little girl's middle name would be Marie because it's a family name on both sides. We are having a girl, but the day we found out I was pregnant, one of my close friends also committed suicide. So we decided to make her middle name Melissa after our friend. My mom is always trying to guilt trip me into making it Marie. It's my kid, so I'm picking the name! Get over it people!! @giaw. Yessss I absoutley HATE talking on the phone. and I have a friend/coworker that feels the need to call me almost every morning on my way to work and on my way home (we work at different sites). My car ride is my me time, don't call me. Text me!
Oh the name game!! we are still deciding-DH has offered NO suggestions. But we know we will tell family the middle name, and who it is after but are not telling first name until she is born. That way they won't have much to say, it will be her name and hopefully the excitement of her being here will tamper any name opinions. Now if DH and I could figure out a name!
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@smallbutmighty77 We didn't know with our first till almost 12 hours after he was born. (people kept insisting we were lying when we told them we didn't know.) Even then, we only knew a first name. It did help that when we shared the news the name was already final. I think it eliminated negative comments.
A pipe burst in my daughter's room last night, she shared her cold with me and I pulled my back taking her out of the cart at target this morning. I am going to go hide for a week now.
Not Wednesday but had to share this one. I teach college math and today was the review day for the test. I started by writing out what homework was due on test day on the board. So rest of class students were asking questions pertaining to the test and questions on their homework. End of class guy raises his hand and asks is there a homework assignment. Like I seriously don't know what he was thinking we were doing in class to ask that! And the look on some students faces when he asked that was just great!
