Re: February Multiple Mamas Check In

  • @Colleen0516 my LO's are sleeping in a crib together currently. For bottles I'm all over the place. I have dr. brown's, avent, and honest company.
@taradise99 keep us updated and keeping you in my prayers.
@kelrauh glad things are going well, and glad you get to see your LO's today.
@ultratomato lol I hear you, very busy indeed. Hope they get back into regular sleep mode.

  • Hi ladies!
@taradise99 - sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!

@kelrauh - you are doing an amazing job keeping those babies baking. I am sure it is difficult and frustrating to stay in bed. Every day is a victory!

@AandDM2014 - I have 7 weeks to go at the most and have in the last few days started snoring so bad DH can't sleep, up to pee at least 3 times, and rolling over is an Olympic event. This multiples thing is not for the weak.

So so proud of all of you.

I am 31weeks as of yesterday and finally hit nesting hard this week...mostly following a few days of frequent BH contractions that made me worry we may not have as much time left as I thought. Everything has calmed down now but it was a wake up call.
So packing my hospital bag today...ordered going home outfits and diapers just in case (I had been waiting for our shower but that is still 2 weeks away). And asking for the friends that are gifting their car seats to us bring them by sooner.

  • @Happydays13 I bet you could still get a sleep study done and a CPAP if you wanted. I was 30 weeks 2 days when I did mine and got one the next day. It's been amazing to actually sleep well! It also cut my bathroom visits in half and has reduced my heartburn considerably! Definitely agree that it is not for the weak! Yay for nesting! I get to start tomorrow as DH, FIL and nephew are building all the nursery furniture tomorrow. We also just went this afternoon and got our other two car seats and both strollers from storage since we were there getting the dresser. I'm excited to start actually putting their room together! We got our last car seat on Tuesday and of course I immediately took it out of the box and figured out how to put it in the car. Things are getting real pretty fast!

  • @Happydays13 Excellent! All I had to do was pick out which sheets went on the mattresses and where to put the dresser! Oh, and where to put the third crib (it ended up in our room so the babies will be with us until they can't all fit in one crib) The menfolk are still building said dresser as it's IKEA and has about a zillion pieces, but they should be done in the next 30-45 minutes (hopefully). Once I get it all properly finished over the weekend I'll take a picture or two and post it. I feel so much better knowing that these few things are done and I don't have to worry about them anymore! I also got the downstairs changing table built and the double stroller put together. Now we have all three carseats at home, plus both strollers are ready to receive them. Sh*t is getting real.

I had my second appointment of this week today and everything was looking good. I signed the consent form to have a tubal ligation done during the c-section, but now the babies can't come for at least 3 days as there is a mandatory waiting period. So weird, but whatever. It doesn't seem likely that they will come within the next few weeks, so I may make it to my EDW of March 20th! I get to start biweekly NSTs next week. That'll be fun. NOT! I have to drive about an hour away to have them done (the same place I go for MFM appointments and for delivery), but I'm hoping that either DH can take me or one of my moms will take me.

I will be 32 weeks tomorrow!!! That's the typical length that triplet pregnancies go, so I'll go longer than the norm for sure!

I hope everyone else is staying nice and pregnant!

  • @AandDM2014 - sounds like you got alot done. I get NST done everyday and I love them. I feel so close to the babies when hearing their hearts beating for long periods of time and then little man beats up the monitor which is amusing.

  • Hi, I'd like to join! I'm 7w with twins after a frozen transfer of 2 blast! :)

I have a question about heartbeats. I know they are 2 different babies, but yesterday I had an US and heartbeats were really different, 125 and 144. I think they are both in normal range but it looks like a huge difference. In size they were mesuring similar enough, 6w6d and 7w1d.

Did any of you have a big differences like that early on? Did heartbeats get closer over time?

    Thanks!
  • @SanBL Welcome and congrats on your twins! I don't remember the exact numbers, but mine were all quite different for the first few ultrasounds. I think they just like to see a number over 120. Now mine are pretty close together while they're resting.

  • @SanBL  The first time we heard the heartbeats it was 143 and 155.  Last U/S was 155 and 153, with baby B measuring 2 days behind.  My doctors aren't concerned.

  • @AandDM2014 that's great that you are going to make it pay the norm triplet range, and exciting knowing that they can really come at any point!

@sanbl I think a semi long as they are above 120 you're fine. I have actually heard people start below 120 and be fine!
Every babies heart will be different, they both sound good to me. Plus the will increase over the next few weeks, then decrease in your second tri.

I had my level 2 sono done last week. The babies wouldn't fully cooperate so I had to go back today. Due to their position, she couldn't get all the angles of the heart. I need to go for a fetal echo on 3/6. She told
me it wasn't because of positioning, and they were being stubborn and facing backwards most of the appointments, but I still can't help but be a little worried. Hearing the title pediatric cardiologist, made my heart stop a little.

Anyone else have a similiar experience?

@Colleen0516 - my little man doesn't cooperate for ultrasounds. In the 3 ultrasounds in 6 weeks have we have not got a good view of his heart. We have seen hers perfectly. My ob suggested an echo but the mfm team said they dont feel its necessary. I think its just by opinion of the doctor, I would not be concerned.

  • @SanBL - welcome and congrats! I recall going to my ER close to 7 weeks to hear the heart beats for the first time. My ER was looking for a number above 100. I don't recall our exact numbers. They were 10-20 apart. I wrote the numbers down somewhere but now I can't find it. Try to relax and enjoy (easier said then done). Your twins are over 100 which is great :)
  • Thanks @DDRGirlie @Colleen0516 and @JaneJane for the reassurance! Going back tomorrow, can't wait to see them again!!

@Colleen0516 I hope everything is fine!
  • Hi ladies!  Been waiting to join this group as I'm cautiously optimistic about my two little ones and still in a bit of shock we have two coming!  My morning sickness had gotten better the last few days so today I went in for an 8 week u/s that I requested because I thought for sure something was wrong.  But everything is measuring on track, heartbeats were strong!  I did have a question because the other RE that I don't usually have was working today and he got me a tad nervous because he said baby b is measuring a bit behind so there's still a chance of vanishing twin syndrome for that baby but since both heartbeats are good, he was optimistic they'd eventually even out in growth.  Did any of you go through this early on?  Happy to be here with you all and looking forward to all the advice you ladies can offer:)

Here's what they were measuring today (8 weeks):
    Baby A: 15.5 mm, HR 172
    Baby B: 14.7 mm, HR 168

    Last week (7wks) they were:
    Baby A: 8.8mm, HR 133
    Baby B: 10mm, HR 132

  • @emgem819 I read about that yesterday because mine too have a small difference. I found an interesting article on that. Basically, the bigger the difference the more risk you have to lose one. Your difference is very small (5.2%). They say that <15% difference (between 7 and 10 weeks) have a risk is 0.8%, so really low! At 5.2% I'm pretty sure you'll be fine!

Here is the title of the article:
    Embryonic growth discordance and
early fetal loss: the STORK multiple
    pregnancy cohort and systematic review

The table 1 is the interesting one. I don't know why your doctor scared you with that, the numbers start to look scary when the difference is more than 30%...
  • @emgem819 Welcome to our group! Those darn doctors trying to scare us! Poo on them! Anyway, there is generally a difference in size, but one so small can be totally normal. None of mine measured the same from week to week, and now there is several ounces difference between them. As long as they keep growing that's all that matters. I hope that at your next ultrasound you get more peace of mind about their progress!

@AandDM2014 thanks for the warm welcome!  I appreciate the input and reassurance that your little ones never measured the same either!  I think if they implant different times that makes a difference in initial size.  Here's hoping things continue well!

  • Another question for you multiple mamas! When did you decide to tell people?  We really were going to wait until 10 or 12 weeks at least but from what I've heard with twins you start showing much earlier on.  I've told my boss but feel like ppl at work are starting to expect something (going to a lot of doctor appts) so she just asked me today when I'll tell the other ppl at work.

  • @emgem819 - welcome to the Board! We told everyone at 15 weeks. My husband's aunt said she thought I looked a bit bloated a few weeks prior when we had dinner but she didn't ask (I was only 11 weeks then!). Other then that no one guessed it or if they did they haven't said anything. At 15 weeks everyone was surprised. People I casually know started looking at my stomach, that look where they want to ask but are too afraid in case I was just gaining weight around 18-20 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now and there's no hiding it! I swear I get bigger from morning to evening, day-in, day-out.
  • @emgem819 My case may be different, but we chose to tell everyone that only one embryo took, just in case. After having a MMC I was terrified of losing this pregnancy as well so I had a lot of fear about telling people. In the beginning only 3 people (other than DH and myself and our medical team) knew we were having triplets. We kept it under wraps until I was 14+1, then we finally told our parents, and told our siblings a few days later. Needless to say they were shocked. We then waited until I was 17 weeks to share the triplets publicly. I was still worried (still am honestly) about losing one or more of them but it was going to become pretty obvious for anyone who saw me that I was not carrying one baby. The support we got was awesome, but I am very glad we waited to share.

  • Thanks for the feedback @AandDM2014 and @janejane.  We've already told close friends and our parents about the twins so didn't wait long for that.  I think we'll try to wait until 15 weeks to tell everyone else if we can.  Just seems like so long away but we've also had prior MC so want to make sure everything is ok before going ahead.

  • @emgem819 that's true, I was surprised to not see more future mom of multiples around our dates. Maybe some will join later... looking forward to see your updates too! :)

I am also wondering when to tell people (I also had a MC before...). I think I'll tell people when it's gonna be obvious! Hopefully I won't show too early!

I had an other ultrasound today at 7w2d and everything looks good!

    Baby A mesures 11.5mm (7w2d) HR 150
    Baby B mesures 13.8mm (7w5d) HR 162

It's crazy that baby A heartbeat pass from 125 to 150 in only 3 days!!! I'm feeling better about it now :)
  • @SanBL awesome numbers for your second ultrasound!  Looks like things are going right on track.  After my last ultrasound, my mom said "things must be getting real now!" which is pretty true...I'm actually starting to believe I might carry twins to birth as crazy as that first seemed!  Hoping for the best for both of us.
