Our baby was way smaller than we thought he would be (he was just over 7lbs, doc thought he would be 8.5lbs after last ultrasound), so we didn't get many NB clothes. My sister, who has a 6 month old, came to the rescue and shipped a box of NB clothes that arrived today. I was expecting maybe 10 onesies and sleepers, but she sent SO much stuff! Basically a whole wardrobe. It was really fun going through it all, it makes me want to play dress up with the baby...
I played dress up with DD today. Mainly to see what fits because she's kind of in-between sizes, but also to see her in some of her new cute outfits haha. Especially since we've had unusually warm weather (70s tomorrow when we normally get snow) I have a feeling she won't get to wear some seasonal things.
Oh my what a crazy last hour!! Austin wakes up, I feed him. I go to change his diaper and mid wipe he starts pooping. (That happens multiple times a day) sooo I clean his bottom again, but he sprinkles a little pee. I catch some of it but not all of it so now he needs a change of clothes. As I'm changing his onesie he had an explosive spit up/puke. It ran all over the side of his head and down under his back so I needed to change him AGAIN! I decide to just go ahead and spongebath him after all that mess. (@winchestergirl I do NOT bath him on our bed like i did our other 2 and never will, he makes way too many diaperless pee and poos lol) sooo I lay him down on the floor (on a towel) and as I get his new outfit he starts peeing yet again. I totally gave up and gave him his spongebath and got him dressed, then soaked up his pee off the carpet and as I type this he's doing his little baby laugh and smiling. I need a nap.
@kswiger06 lol your guy sounds like mine. His older brother only peed on me maybe twice, but This little one it's nearly a daily occurrence! Haha
Haha! Same here!! Our oldest peed on me twice too, but this one pees on someone (including himself) a few times a day. At his Dr appointment yesterday, I mentioned to the nurse to watch out because he pees or poops everytime his diaper is off, so she had me move him naked onto the scale lol... then he made me look like a liar and he didn't do anything.
+1 for a baby who pees all over himself (and anything within 8 inches) multiple times a day! Our guy hates diaper and clothes changes and more often than not expresses his anger by peeing when we're trying to change him.
Earlier today, I noticed a wet spot on my shirt. Couldn't tell if it was breast milk or pee, so I just let it air dry. Pretty sure it was pee, because it didn't leave a mark like milk usually does, but I honestly didn't care enough to do anything about it. I may or may not be wearing the same shirt now, hours later.
Update: During the 3am feed, I noticed a sudden warmth all over the side of my already-peed-on shirt - babe peed through his diaper, all over me. THAT did warrant a shirt change, but it also made me glad I didn't bother changing it earlier in the evening. I only have so many nursing tanks!
That's definitely me @kswiger06 HAHA and one side of my stomach hangs lower than the other, wtf? My kids also made sure to tell me I smell nasty and gross because of how much I'm sweating. Thanks kids... my stomach was actually flat before you came along
@Jab3 lol kids are so funny. Our first night home my daughter asked me why my stomach was still big if Austin was born now. When I tried to explain it to her, she said maybe I still have another baby in there.
I absentmindedly bounced my subway sandwich yesterday while I was eating to try and soothe it. I need sleep.

Remember when we had a pregnancy brain thread? I bet we could have some doozies in a sleep deprived thread lol... (like I somehow keep saying she even though I've known I was having a boy for months, and he has all the required packaging for me to say he, I actually said it enough now that my husband did it once and he was like "look what you made me do!!")
Question: would you take a 4 week old out of town for a funeral? I don't want to fly during cold/flu season, so it would mean a 7 hour drive each way. Funeral is for a close family friend of my husband - he's going (and will fly if I don't go). I'm hesitant because my son really hates the car and it will likely mean hours of crying for him. Should I just suck it up and go? I welcome your honest and blunt opinions!
@CAmama99 Do you feel the need to pay your own respects, independent of your husband? I would be strongly inclined to not go, unless you don't feel capable of handling the baby on your own for the duration of your husband's absence? (If he can fly, in theory he could be gone less than 24 hours). 14 hours in a car with any 4 week old, let alone one who hates the car, sounds like my idea of hell right now. Not to mention, you're only 4 weeks out from giving birth. Sitting in a car for 7 hours, then having to be "on" at the funeral, might be more exertion than you want to undertake at this point. Unless you feel like you will regret not going to the funeral, I would skip it.
@CAmama99 I feel very much the same as @poetryandoceans. When I'm thinking about a situation and can't decide what to do, I always ask myself if I'll regret it either way. On one hand, it sounds like pure torture to try to go with the baby being so young, and not liking a car drive. Plus your own body might get terribly sore and uncomfortable. On the other hand, is the funeral something you personally want to attend? It might be a long and hard drive, but if you'll always regret not going, it might be worth trying to come up with a driving plan... like can you leave a whole day ahead of time just to be able to take all the time you need to stop and get baby out to feed/change/stretch? If you can take all the breaks you need or want the drive will last a lot longer, but may end up not being a total nightmare. But for a personal opinion, if you won't feel like you'll regret not going, I wouldn't go. Everyone will be more than understanding on why you couldn't make it.
@CAmama99 personally? I definitely wouldn't go. I like @kswiger06 's advice about weighing the options. + is H fine with you staying home, or does he need you there?

I am ok with not going, both because I know the family will understand why I'm not there and because my husband will not be alone (my in laws will be attending). My H would prefer that I be there, but also doesn't want to risk a germy plane flight at this stage. I just wanted some second opinions to see if I was being overly careful - it makes me feel better to know that others in a similar situation would make the same decision as me.
So...when H and I were creating the registry for DD before she was born, I asked H his opinion on baby wearing and he swore up and down he would never want to do that, so I got a carrier I wanted rather than something mutual. Flash forward to today and H decided to try wearing her and loved it! He even took a baby wearing selfie with her haha.
Here's the funny thing, I just started bloody show at about 5am this morning From what I've been told it means it could be anywhere from hours to even up to a week before labour starts now. Kinda freaked out now, poor DH has been pacing and antsy ever since he found out.
@krob I didn't mean to go MIA - I had a great birth experience - just having a hard time keeping up with anything besides the baby the last couple of days!! Thanks for thinking of me I appreciate it!!!
@gretchypoo and @WinchesterGirl so I finally got a chance to start watching supernatural. Last night I watched the pilot and today I watched S1E2... but nobody told me the show has suspenseful, make you jump parts! Last night I watched the first episode while I was pumping, (in the dark) and it made me jump and I accidently pulled the pump off and I lost suction and it hurt lol.
@poetryandoceans lol!! The only milk that got lost, was what dripped out when I accidently pulled the shield loose, but it had me a flustered mess haha.
