i was actually just thinking about this. i'm not really a relaxing music type of person. maybe in labor i will be or maybe i won't want music at all. right now the only type of music that sounds appealing to me the stuff that pumps you up. like what athletes listen to before a game lol. ill be interested to see what ends up being played ... or not played
Oh man....a can of worms has been opened!!! I love music! But as far as a specific birthing playlist- Billy Joel, Bob Seger, LIGHTS, little bit of Gaga, some Phillip Phillips, about 22 classical compositions that are my personal favorites, video game soundtracks, (HUGE Legend of Zelda fan here) and a whole lot of other classic rock! I listen to classic rock and classical instrumental exclusively in the car but I like to keep up with modern musicians as well- there is so much talent in the world in every generation and I appreciate it all- my ears just prefer that old time rock n' roll the majority of the time! I also really love instrumental Christmas music all year round
My playlist is all chilled out music! (which is just about exclusively what I listen to anyway). Although last time I never even turned the music on. I was in my own world in my brain and probably wouldn't have heard music if it were playing.
Band of Horses (on a major BoH kick lately), Great Lake Swimmers, Bon Iver, M. Ward, Centro-Matic, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros.......

Well I've been listening to Pandora while at my NSTs to try to bring down my BP. It worked today! My playlists are Kelly Clarkson radio, 90s country, Today's country, and a couple specific country artists radios. Clearly I'm into country music. However, I haven't really thought about making my own station for hospital. I'm down for some classic rock too occasionally.
I'm going for spa style music to keep myself calm and breathing. i have a Debussy and classic film track station mix on pandora that I like when I need to de-stress. I may end up switching over to my running station (cold play, imagine dragons, pop mix) if I need more energetic music that pumps me up.
I haven't done this because my lady is breech. If she turns, my plan is for my laboring music to be calm stuff & then industrial and metal for pushing lol.
@Cbeanz love your playlist choices. I love Great Lake Swimmers and M.Ward - also Explosions in the Sky. I need to make a playlist still but music that will take my mind away from pain (or fear, if I have a c-section) are Wilco and Andrew Bird, the Shins, and maybe throw in a few songs to get me motivated like some Guided by Voices, Strand of Oaks, War on Drugs, Eric Bachmann - then maybe here or there maybe a little Talking Heads...or Spoon. And one or two by Archers of Loaf to throw it waaaay back.
I never used music with my first. Like @Cbeanz I was in my own little world and couldn't care less--this time around I keep meaning to make a playlist but haven't - soooo, if I'm feeling music I'll just ask DH to pull up whatever I feel like : either some pandora or a zen/yoga/meditation kinda soothing YouTube channel.
Day to Day Faves: Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor -- chill and quirky. And I love me some techno
(ETA: what I ACTUALLY listen to all day is however pandora toddler radio... ))
I have 2 main playlists on my phone, one with mostly country music that my cousins and I use for dirt roading on the weekends that goes from the really old stuff to current. This is probably what I'll have on in the background in the early part of the labor, (or when my epidural is working really well
C-section means no need for a labor playlist, but my relax playlist on Spotify has a lot of Glen Hansard, Barnaby Bright, Noah Gundersen, and Lianne La Havas. I bet you could search labor playlists on Spotify andnfind a ton!

My hospital has internet access through the TVs so we will be playing pandora. I love Jim Croce and have been tweaking that station since before DS was born. It's perfection now!
Going with the "Amos Lee" station on pandora and hoping it is as relaxing as last time. I just remember Adele coming on and hating it every time for some reason.

@shines721 FF(T)C - I do not like Adele's songs AT ALL. My DH signs onto my account to use pandora one, and I have a completely perfected station that I always listen to. He had the audacity to 'like' an adele song on it, and I was SO mad. Get your own station, don't go ruining mine.
@CanadianintheSouth Yes! It's so true.. We currently have "Justin Timberlake Radio" as the best collection of songs and I'm always nervous to like something new because I don't want to throw it off haha

@shines721 I know right?! I once liked a live song, now it plays way too many live songs. As a side note, Canadians are totally missing out on Pandora, I get frustrated when I can't use it every time I'm there.
I have making a playlist or two on my list, but really I'm beginning to think I'll just stream my Amazon Prime account at the hospital. Making a playlist seems like such a hard thing to do right now.
