  • My nose. Just I cannot deal. I cannot breathe, or sleep. Tried a Zyrtec, tried a neti pot, still no sleeping or breathing. Pregnancy rhinitis can kiss it!
  • Threw up trying to brush my teeth. I just want to feel betterrrrrrrrrrrrr! Damnit!

No actually I haven't, I'll have to pick some up, at this point I will try all the things just to get an entire nights sleep
  • @lap018 keep me posted on that.  Instead of the neti pot I've used the NeilMed sinus rinse (its like the squirt bottle thing) that I liked better than the netipot.  Did you go through this during your first pregnancy too?  I feel like it went away sometime in the second trimester, which sure as hell is not fast enough.

So, to be fair, my in-laws are excited about this baby. They know we've been trying for a long time, and have had losses, and they're thrilled for us. In fact, mil, my oldest sil, and I had a really good talk about motherhood and loss over christmas, and it was really healing in some ways. But both mil and fil have said things to the tune of, "We're excited, but your parents bust be more excited, since it's their daughter's child and their 1st grandbaby." Like a daughter's child is more important or special than a son's child? Like since they have (2) grandkids already, DH's first, and possibly only, child isn't that special to them? They have five kids ranging in age over 20 years, and DH is the oldest and only boy. The often treat him differently than their daughters, and even raised him very differently than their girls, and it just makes no sense. I've known them almost 12 years, and I still can't wrap my mind around it. They love him, but hold him at a distance for reasons neither of us can figure out, and sometimes they (his mother in particular) turn hostile towards him without any apparent cause. And the insinuation that it's more exciting when your daughter is pregnant than when your son is about to become a father baffles me, and makes me angry for DH. He deserves so much more than this from them.

Edited to add: sorry this got long. :grimace:

I had it with DS for like a weekend and it went away, this time it is wayyyyyyy worse! I have been using the Neil Med one too I just call it a neti pot because it easier to type lol! I'm praying it disappears sooner rather than later because this is misery!
  • @amandarene112 sometimes people are just plain dumb!   We are going to a similar situation in our family but it had to do with the gender of said babies.  SIL and MIL wanted SIL to have a girl and she is having another boy - comment was made that one of the other girls (myself or my brother in laws wife)might have a girl.  MIL flat out said, that doesn't matter to me I wanted my daughter to have the girl! Annoying as all hell and people should be more considerate of others, but unfortunately they aren't!
  • @sugarrush that sounds more like PPD or PPA than just worrying about going back to work.
  • My in laws too. They've never been especially close to us, they've seen our son twice in his almost 3 years. When we had to go visit them. They refuse to come see us! There's really no good excuse for this.. they get free flights, guys. Free! They traveled around this part of the country last summer and when they were supposed to stop and see us, they cancelled because we were supposed to have a couple storms. Not severe.. just mild thunderstorms. I'm pretty sure it's me. My MIL for some stupid reason feels threatened by me and her behavior shows it... everything is a competition. Anyway when we announced this pregnancy to them, FIL was excited, MIL didn't really seem to care. In the past 5 week, no calls, no texts, no responses.
My husband is a twin.. his sister was pregnant last time I was and MIL was alllll over that. Clearly she favors her daughter. Honestly, I'm fine without a great relationship with them but it really upsets my husband and I'm absolutely not ok with it! Ugh. Rant over!

  • I've complained about this before, but seriously, why do people think it's okay to warm up fish in an office setting? It's been happening almost every day for about 3 weeks now.

Also, my doctor said that I should only gain 10-15 pounds during the whole pregnancy because I was overweight to start with. Fine, I get it, but my brother and I were both over 8 pounds at birth. It seems like with an 8-pound baby and the placenta, I'm basically supposed to lose weight and that's impossible given that I'm starving all the time and I have minimal desire to eat healthy food.

My doctor told me the same thing. It does mean that you are basically supposed to lose weight. It sucks. I've been trying to eat high protein snacks. It is helping with the weight and making me feel full. The problem is I cant always stomach those foods. Sometimes I just have to eat anything that I wont throw up.

  • 18 month shots.. need I say more?
  • @lap018 right there with ya on the rhinitis...coupled with peeing 3+X a night and waking up at the crack of dawn with DD...I'm exhausted.

    1) I had a super sharp chest pain out of nowhere this morning that freaked me the f*%k out... I of course doctor googled heart attack and pregnancy. Feel fine now but with a little tightness like I pulled a muscle...mentioning to my OB next Tues when I see her (obviously I'll go to a doc before that if need be!). Google said that women over 40 have a greater risk of developing heart disease and strokes...greaaaaat. Sigh.

    2) told my dad/stepmom/sister/brother abt being pregnant since we are visiting them in CO til tomorrow. I basically got a "congrats," no excitement and subject moved on pretty quickly...and they learned independently. Yay for a family of emoters. Grr. And stepmom looked at me like I have three heads when I said no thanks to a seared tuna salad and when I mentioned I could t eat the deli sandwiches because of the listeria possibility AND because I can't eat gluten because I'm intolerant. Way to support people! Sheesh.

    3) DD is currently boycotting her nap which is messing up MY nap...and it's gonna make for an awesome travel day back to TX tomorrow because she will miss it again...

end rant! Side note...it's GORGEOUS today here in Colorado and DD got to see snow yesterday for the first time...it was adorable!

  • @Texafornian I've had a few sharp pains in my chest, and my doctor said that if they happen within an hour of eating, they're probably just indigestion. It freaks me out a little bit every time, but sure enough they always time within 30-45 minutes of eating. Hopefully that's all it is for you too!

  • @beccam1230 I'm in Fort Collins! Was in the Crystal Lakes area yesterday at my sister's cabin.

@amandarene112 I think it was 30-60 minutes after so hoping that's it.

  • @Texafornian YOU NEED TO GO TO STUFT it's in Fort Collins and it is AMAZING!
  • If I could eat there every day I would. So amazing. Here's a pic of DH and I eating there on my 18th birthday. Don't judge. We were young and I had pneumonia lol. I was having the mac and cheese lol but you can build your own burger any way you want it. Sooooo good.

  • @Texafornian I love Ft Collins!! I'm in Colorado Springs. I'm glad the weather was so nice for you!

  • Ask your doctor about Rhinocort. It's over the counter and class B. Of course I feel guilty about using it but I am pretty sure my baby needs me to sleep! (As does my husband - I'm pretty sure he will leave me if I get any crankier) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/16004676/
  • My 2.5 yr old has started this new thing where she'll start peeing in one bathroom then decide she needs to use my bathroom. I'm so sick if cleaning up pee. Oh and DH is gone on his one business trip a year, so I can't even make him deal with DD while I clean up the mess.

  • My bitchfest is that last week my cubicle partner was sick as a dog. But still showed up to work 3.5 out of the five work days. Sneezing, coughing, blowing her nose, etc. I lysoled my desk about a thousand times.

Well, now I am sick too. Dealing with the already daunting pregnancy symptoms like nausea, fatigue and headaches along with a sore throat and nasal congestion makes for one very bitchy, upset pregnant woman.
  • I just need to whine ....

im 12 weeks today whyyyyyy don't I feeeeeel better yettttttt ugh
  • OMG, I just had a fight with my mom because she insisted that there is "a bunch of evidence" that vaccines cause autism. This was prompted by the fact that I got the flu shot months before I was pregnant. When I told her that she was talking about pseudoscience, she insisted that her friend with an autistic kid wouldn't agree with me. WTH?

Ugh... a woman I work with insists on this too and it drives me CRAZY. She contacted multiple people at the state health department trying to get them to issue her son a vaccination card for day care without the MMR vaccine. Umm.. no.

A family that my grandparents know really well has three autistic sons... I'm not sure of their ages, but the younger two were born when the whole vaccine thing was just started to pick up and I guess the Dr didn't want to take chances. They delayed vaccines on the middle son, and didn't vaccinate the youngest one at all... their oldest has the mildest case of autism of any of them, the youngest has the worst.
