FIL comments about how my son looks like him

My son is 10 months old and every since he was born my FIL has said he looks just like HIM! Literally every comment is "he looks just like me" or "he's my mini me that's for sure" and it makes me so mad! My husband has brown hair and brown eyes while I have blonde hair and blue eyes, and our son is blonde and blue eyed but totally looks like his dad which I absolutely love. My husbands dad is also blonde hair and blue eyed so OBVIOUSLY that's where my son gets it, not from his mother who gave him half his genes. I know that without his dad having the same coloring as me we would have more than likely ended up with a brown/brown baby boy (which I would have loved too) but he makes me feel like all I was was a vessel. I would have way less of an issue if it was an every once in a while comment but it's every time, and he even says it on pictures I post to social media. Am I blowing this totally out of preportion or would this bother anyone else?

    That would annoy me too. I'd probably respond with sarcasm, like "well obviously there could be no other reason that he has blonde hair and blue eyes!" or "Hmmm, wonder what other close relative might have given him that coloring?" Or something along those lines. But sarcasm is how I tend to deal with annoying comments. :tongue:

    That would really bother me as well. It might be hard to do but I'd probably just ignore the comments. You know that he's obviously delusional/egocentric/proud etc. but you and everybody else can see that you are blonde and blue-eyed too. :#

    So, your baby looks like his dad, who probably looks like his dad. And grandpa has the same color hair/eyes as baby. Call me crazy, but it sounds like the baby looks just like grandpa and grandpa is excited to have a mini me. DS2 is his grandpa's mini me as well, and we've all been amazed at how much more interested FIL has been with his grandkids than he was with his own kids. He's more able to enjoy the them now that he's retired.

    Annoying for sure...I also feel a little sad for your FIL. I think it's just his way of trying to feel apart of everything. Just take it with a grain of salt and try and tune it out when you can. Although hard to do!
