Infertility

Intro (Loss Mentioned)

Hi! This is my first post and it felt like I waited a lifetime for the 72 hour wait!

I'm 30, work as a nanny in gorgeous Colorado and my husband is 31 and works in IT. We met in my boring office job (he still works there LOL) and have been married over 2 years. Oh and we also have the grumpiest cat ever.

Back up a little, I had an early miscarriage at 19, got married shortly after and tried/NTNP for 5 years. Right at the end of my first marriage, I had a lap done and was diagnosed with mild endo (which was 5 years ago). As soon as my current husband and I got married, we tried with OPK's for 6 mos and then consulted with an RE. First RE wanted us to go straight to IVF but we weren't ready and we moved on to another clinic. Second clinic found I have sub clinical hypothyroidism (currently taking synthroid), low vitamin D, but other wise all tests came back within normal range including my HSG and hubby is normal. My periods are pretty regular and according to the many years of OPK's, I always ovulate. We did 3 IUI's but 2 times we almost missed ovulation, 3rd time we did miss it so it was canceled. Felt a bit discouraged but RE gave our chances low for IUI being successful. Just received my calendar and protocol for our first IVF, I'm on protocol 3 with patches at CCRM, if that makes any sense? I feel a little lost with the IVF stuff because after years of researching how to get pregnant, I never really researched IVF but here we are. I'm trying to stay positive through all of this but thought it might be time to join back into the world of forums for a little more support!

  • Welcome! I also have mild endo. Our stories are a little similar. I had three iuis all unsuccessful. We just completed our first IVF and Im catious to share that it worked. The only advice I have for you is to not set expectations. I had all of these expectations that I was going to have so many eggs and lots of frozen and I was so sad to only get five eggs (all mature but only three fertilized, zero left to freeze.I also expected to do a fresh five day transfer but we had to do a three day instead. The expectations I had set left me a little disappointed and worried but so far it has still worked out. Good luck to you!

Thanks @brela11, We do for sure have similar backgrounds! I had this expectation of so many eggs based on my age but in the past couple days I've read it can be difficult with endo to get to 5 day blasts. I've also read my clinic doesn't do less than 5 day transfers but I don't know how true it is. Did you do ICSI? We will be doing ICSI and are planning on doing a FET as my clinic said it will give me the best results but I'm open to changing to a fresh if we need to for some reason! Also, did you try acupuncture in conjunction with your IVF?

    Sending you a cautious congrats!
