  I don't think it really needs a nickname.  It's only two syllables and is an appropriate-sounding name for a young child.  I love Violet, btw.

  I teach a little girl named Viola (pronounced Vee-ola) and I've noticed that her mom sometimes drops the V and calls her "Yola." It's kind of funny for a nickname but I think a cute pet name.

  I had a great aunt Letti.  I don't know what it was short for, but it would work for Violet.  Of course it also sounds like a great aunt's name.  You could just call her Flor or Fleur as a nn?

  I like Violet, but don't really like any of the nn's listed so far. Some of them are a stretch! I knew a Vanessa and everyone called her "V".

  fwiw, there's no nn for my first name and I turned out just fine.
