Infertility

Quick Introduction

Thank-you everyone for welcoming me to this board. I have been posting in the Feb IUI thread as I had my first IUI this month.  DH and I have been trying since March 2015 but due to DH work schedule and being on a project we have only had about 14 solid months to try.  However, I did go to an RE 6 months in and found out that my AMH level was low, quite low at .35, my FSH level is normal high at 9.4 and I don't recall my AFC. DH has a bit of morphology issues but his count and motility are excellent.

I tried Clomid at 100mg for 3 months with TI and it didn't result in anything.  My RE is recommending IVF but I need to work on losing some weight.  We decided to go down the route of IUI this month and my RE has referred to it as Superovulation as I had to take a high dose of Menopur.

I wish every lady on this board a lot of luck and very happy to have found a group that is on the same journey.

Thanks!

  • Thank you @jamieh2000 I will look for that thread tonight.
  • With low AMH the worst thing you can do is wait...time is not on your side. Just go for IVF and skip the IUIs. It will be your best chance of pregnancy. Also, request re-test of levels. Sometimes the test is not accurate so I always ask for a re-test. I know it's a hard decision sometimes if treatment isn't covered by insurance but take it from me, if I would have just bit the bullet 3 years ago when we first found out I had DOR, I think they could have done more for me than where we are at now. Good luck!
    Me: 37 / Hubs: 42
    TTC: April 2013
    DOR: AMH .3 - 1.31 (it varies); FSH: 5.1
    Clinic NMCSD
    IUI #1 July/Aug 2016
IVF #1 Sep/Oct Microdose Lupron Protocol - IVF cancelled only 1 follicle
IVF #2 Feb/Mar Antagonist protocol w/estrogen priming - 0 eggs retrieved (empty follicle syndrome)
Donor Egg Cycle as soon as we find a match
  • @mandasand Thank-you for the advice.  I honestly think I was in denial in the beginning  as I didn't think I would have any issues since my AF was always regular and then when I found out I don't think it had sunk in.  I am working hard to lose some weight so I can start IVF but didn't want to wait any longer so decided on the IUI at this time and my RE said it would be good to see how I did on the medication.
  • How did you respond to your IUI? How many follicles did you start with and how many did you end up with?

I was in denial too when I heard I had DOR.

  • @mandasand The day I went for the ultrasound I had:

    Left Ovary: 17.14mm, 26.60mm
    Right Ovary: 22.58mm

They triggered me then and I had the IUI 28 hours later.  However the RE only said there was one dominant follicle but from everything I have read the smallest one would have grown by the time of the IUI and the 22.58 sounds mature.
