How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? I measured 8 weeks exactly at u/s yesterday with #1!

Anyone have an appointment this week? U/s yesterday, everything looked great! My RE's office said it's time to make an appt. with a regular OB, but that I can keep coming back for a weekly peace of mind u/s if I want to! Now I need to find an OB...

Cravings/Symptoms? I felt really crappy (physically) for about 10 days, and now I'm back to feeling mostly OK. If it wasn't for the good u/s yesterday, I would be a total basketcase, but for now I'm just going to try to enjoy it! The vivid, super weird dreams are getting old though. I've dreamt about ex BFs, Mexican restaurants, swarms of deer, deaths in the family, and so many other things that are just so strange.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Sort of *TW*, but I had my d&c at 8 weeks last time, so today I'm officially the most pregnant I've ever been!

I want to CD, so I think my next step will be starting to research that since it can be expensive to start out and I'd like to spread it out.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style? Haha, I have no style. Every single wall in my house is still the off white base color it was when we moved in back in July 2015, and my H and I can't agree on items we like for decor, so it stays pretty blank in there. Kind of embarrassing, actually.

@BigBadWolf12 how are you holding up teaching in the first tri? Yesterday at about 1 in the afternoon, I closed my door and collapsed on my office floor because I couldn't imagine holding myself up any longer. It made me think about you and @Sugargirl1019 and anyone else who has jobs where you have to be "on" all the time. You must have superhero stamina!

@metrogirl I haven't seen you post or anything in a while and get worried when people disappear in the first tri. I hope you're doing OK!!

My friend gave me a bunch of her stuff since she's done. So although I didn't buy it, I already have a baby tub, bumbo seat, bottles, drying tray, breast pump, girl clothes and a bunch of maternity pants/bras. I don't think we'll buy anything for a while still.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style?
This is at least how I hope it's received! Modern farmhouse with a smidge of industrial.

Cravings/Symptoms? Not much in the way of cravings, I wish I was more hungry than I am right now. A big change from being starving and nauseous. My nausea has gone down a lot in the last week, but still comes and goes.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I'm pretty boring this week. I got my pregnancy bling yesterday, aka my ring to wear bc my pregnancy fingers are too awesomely robust for my already tight wedding ring. Aka, my $50 CZ ring that I'm in lurv with.

pregnancy GTKY: what have you bought so far/what do you think you'll buy next? I haven't bought anything yet! I'm looking at maternity clothes, though, bc this is my second rodeo and the writing is already on the wall. I may have not shown until 20+ weeks with DS, but that is not happening this time.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style? Casual? We currently have a lot of Ikea, and I think we tend to lean more towards modern stuff. And we *love* to paint with Color. Our last bedroom was bright blue, then gray with a dark purple accent wall. I loved it, and Ikea only fueled our color obsession.

@jmn1985 Since this is your first, there's a lot they will want to do. There's usually a pelvic exam, even if you've had one fairly recently. They will usually have a packet of information for you to take home, and will review the basics with you- exercise, eating properly, what you can/ can't do, medical and genetic history, etc. If they have an in-house lab, you will probably have a bunch of blood drawn for things like if you're RH +/-, blood type, HIV, vaccination titers, etc. If you're at 9w, you may have an u/s. I had one with this LO, not with DS, so it varies by practice.

So, there's a lot that happens at the appts, although I'm not sure my appt with DS was 2hr long. GL!

@ColoradoHiker So I had an ultrasound with pelvic & breast exam last week. I was under the impression it was just talking, but it would make sense if they do blood draws. 2 hours just seems crazy!

ETA - I actively avoid color in my house- I'm so boring!

Hi all,
I think a lot of you saw my post in PGAL, on Monday, but in case you missed it, here's a recap. At my ultrasound when I should have been 7+2 (I was temping), baby only measured 6+0, and no heartbeat. The yolk sac was also enlarged. My hCG is still increasing compared to my numbers from 5+6, but doubling time is about 4.5 days. I have another appointment scheduled on Tuesday to confirm miscarriage, and to finally meet the new doctor (my first two appointments were with the nurse practitioner). Hoping for a miracle, but resigned that its probably not going to work out this time too.

@redbreast35 aw, shucks...but actually I haven't felt very sick yet (it's concerning, but baby was doing great at the u/s so I'm trying to be ok with having minimal physical reminders of LO being in there. My ku coworker had to take sick leave because she was pukinv multiple times a day and you can't just leave a class of 32 kids to go puke, but she still came in for adult meetings in the afternoons.

i also keep a tiny pack of saltines in my teaching box to sneak if I feel I need a little boost. And I mean sneak,...we have so many different allergies in our school that anything that's not water can only be consumed in teacher only areas and the dining hall. Kids aren't allowed to bring any food products, not even apples.

pregnancy GTKY: what have you bought so far/what do you think you'll buy next? We bought a crib last weekend...that was pretty exciting! I have to reorganize a room in the house and needed to figure out how to make it all work (its a SMALL room) with the crib in first. I also have some baby clothes I got at garage sales this summer and also a few baby carriers (I have 2 friends gave me and 1 that I bought at a garage sale). Next stuff I think is mostly baby room decor (even though we know the baby won't likely sleep in there for a LONG time. We also are having my MIL build a side car for our bed...so I need to figure out how much room I have next to my bed for such a thing so she can start making it.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style? Shabby Chic (or garage sale plus some more expensive nice stuff)

I like mission and rustic styles. DH does alot of reclaimed furniture building. He has made our table from upcycling pallets, a coffee table from an old hand painted boogie board, and a TV stand from more pallets. He plans to build baby a fire engine crib from reclaimed wood as well. I am so excited to see how it turns out!

I am mourning my clothes that I feel I can no longer wear now. So many ppl have lost weight... and I gained 5 pounds. I'm so mad. Why can't I have food aversions? Maybe with an increased thyroid dose I will drop back a bit..

No, just random.. I experienced the weirdest gas pain while dh was laying his hand over where baby is. It felt like a flip. I'm like huh that's the weirdest gas movement ever.... just gas. It's just gas. You're crazy. It's just gas.

Haven't bought anything. But I suppose I'll start on cloth diapers soon. We picked out our stroller (Baby Jogger City Select) and carseat (Peg-Pereggo) and bassinet (Halo bassinet). We found a crib we like thats not insane like the usual ones in the stores.

omg haha idk. Dark wood floors? Espresso cabinets? Marble countertops? I don't paint walls.. boring?

Cravings/Symptoms? I think they're being masked by the flu.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? The flu sucks. I've had some sort of symptoms since Sunday, so I think this is the longest I've been sick in a really long time. Rave is that my mom is wonderful and she brings me food when I'm sick since DH doesn't cook. (It's better for both of us that he doesn't haha.) Another rave is that my doppler has been awesome for my sanity this week while I've been sick.

Nothing for baby. I've gone on my first maternity clothes splurge. I'm testing out a few pairs of jeans to find a brand I like.

Comfort is king in our home. We like lots of grays and blues and wood tones in our house. No idea what that's called. Haha.

Cravings/Symptoms? Cravings change daily, but they've seemed to settle down. Symptoms are mostly exhaustion, headaches, and vivid dreams.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Rant #1, still waiting on our results from the Counsyl Informed Pregnancy Screening. Rant #2, doc emailed me to say I should start taking baby aspirin daily, which makes me think there are some warning signs of pre-e in my initial blood work. Still have a week before our appt to discuss everything.

Questions? Has anyone else been prescribed baby aspirin during pregnancy or dealt with preeclampsia?

pregnancy GTKY: what have you bought so far/what do you think you'll buy next? Just a Christmas onesie and "I love Daddy" one for DH for my pregnancy reveal and V-day gift. Doing research now on cribs, pack and plays, etc, but probably won't buy until 20 weeks.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style? Simple I guess? We've been in our house for almost 2 years, but still have lots of decorating to do, mostly on the walls.

@RedBreast35 it went well. It was like 1.5 hours. She talked about foods to eat, medicines I can take. She brought up circumcisions if it's a boy, which I hadn't even began to thought about. California offers genetic testing and a 12 u/s pretty much for free, so we are going to do that. So she ordered the blood panel for that. It doesn't determine sex though. We learned about classes offered by the hospital, tours, lactation consultants and that they are "baby friendly" which in part means that they do the skin to skin immediately after birth. I was also happy to hear that I go in every 3 weeks for a checkup & heartbeat check. I kinda assumed I wouldn't be back til the 20 week ultrasound. I also learned that I'm just barely in the 'overweight' BMI so am supposed to gain between 15-20 lbs (stupid emotional eating after MMC and subsequent holidays). I eat pretty healthy, but will try to reduce my carbs, she wants me to eat fish 3x a week and I'm upping my exercise (from nothing

) to hopefully 1 hour of walking a day.

@ChefRamsay I got mine on Berricle, the quality is great (so far, only had it a couple days!), and it looks exactly like it did in the picture. It's also fun bc I was able to get to try a fancy looking ring that is nothing like my engagement ring, but I won't be horribly upset if it gets lost or anything.

ETA- I set my price range at $50 and there was still a ton of rings to choose from, but there's definitely more expensive stuff as well.

@ColoradoHiker Pregnancy bling is pretty genius. Last go around I just stopped wearing my ring when my fingers got too fat. I got all kinds of side eyes and comments from nosy know-it-alls (I told a few of them off in my pregnant hormonal rage: "So what if I'm not married. So I get laid. At least I'm not a miserable curmudgeon.")

Cravings/Symptoms? Just the nausea. @RedBreast35 I totally shut my office door the other day so I could lay down for a good 15 minutes. The ladies who are able to tough it through in order to teach or serve tables or whatever are my absolute heroes. I don't know how they do it.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I've already gained like 10 pounds. I think it's from all the carbs that seem to be the only thing my tummy can handle right now. So this whole "only gain 25-30 lbs" shenanigans is going to super suck if I'm already 1/3 there.

pregnancy GTKY: what have you bought so far/what do you think you'll buy next? The other day I bought a few pairs of maternity pants and I've been wearing them every day. They are the best. I didn't show until well into the second trimester with my first but no such luck this time around. The bloat is real. I probably won't buy anything else. We are pretty much set between what we kept last time around and what we can borrow.

NBR GTKY: what's your home decor style? Hand me downs - our bed is a converted waterbed that belonged to MIL and FIL back in the 70's, our dressers came from my parents from roughly the same time period, we have a desk that I bought for $5 at Good Will, our 80's-tastic dining table with this weird brass/glass/wood combination came from MIL...I think we need to grow up and buy some real furniture at some point.

@Lizlann The truth is that I lost all my baby weight last year and my rings fit fine, but then I gained a bunch (job loss, moving, new job, etc), and so my rings were already on the tight side. With DS, I was able to wear them until about 28w or so, but this time I knew it wouldn't happen.

I live in a very conservative area now where you get a lot of side eye for being pregnant and not married, so I decided something fun and cheap would make me happy and prevent some of the buzz. I was in Baltimore with DS, and nobody there cared at all, so being ringless wasn't an issue The side eye doesn't bother me nearly as much as having a heart attack every time I go to play with my wedding ring and it's not there, though!

@Lizlann Oh my goodness, I saw another Bump user with this ticker yesterday, and I had to have it. If you go to the website, you can actually pick whether you want a cravings ticker, fact ticker, geeky or manly ticker. It's pretty funny. Obviously, I went with cravings!

ETA- It says that currently I have a 1.6" baby, a baby the size of a lego man, or the size of a golf ball, depending on which one I pick, haha.

@BigBadWolf12 You can make donut holes. Not quite the same, but if you fry up little balls of biscuit or pizza dough and roll it in cinnamon or powdered sugar it's pretty good.

not going to lie, I was thinking of making a chocolate poke cake, which would be similar in my mind....chocolatey cakiness with sugar glaze throughout...

never fried anything myself and I'm a little scared to be honest! A lady at my church growing up nearly died from a grease fire when she was frying donuts for the youth group and since then I've been scared to try it. I've seen my MIL do it for ollie bollen but that's as close as I've come myself
