Healthy Habits Check In (02-12)

1) What's your fitness goal this week?

2) What's your healthy eating goal this week?

3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week?

Re: Healthy Habits Check In (02-12)

  • I find it ironic that I'm in charge of starting this thread each week because I am 100% failing at being healthy this pregnancy. Nausea has once again gotten the best of me and food is the only thing to somewhat tame it.

    1) I am still doing the 30 day squat challenge. So my goal is to keep up with that this month.

    2) I just said to DH that I want to buy a bunch of veggies and just wash and cut them up so they're ready to go to snack on. He said he'd help me so we will see if that actually happens.

    3) Nausea and vomiting is seriously killing me in terms of prepping meals. We've been eating out more than I'd like to admit. While TTC I made some freezer meals because I knew the 1st trimester nausea would do this to me. So I think I'll be pulling those out this week so we are at least eating home cooked meals.

  • 1) Continue with the exercise pattern that I am currently using. (Youtube has good prenatal exercises btw)

    2) I would like to eat more veggies, and continue to stay away from sweets and chips.

    3) No between ds and going to school, I just wing it everyday

At least you're trying! Doing my pregnancy with ds I made up every reason in the world not to exercise, and I ate horribly and just blamed it on my cravings  :#
  • @mommac2017 sorry to hear your nausea is taking over, but that is awesome that you're keeping up with squats! Have you tried ginger gummies or tea by chance? I had moderate OHSS after my egg retrieval which caused horrific nausea, and the ginger and saltine crackers was a life saver!

@beautyundefined  I will have to check out YouTube thanks for the tip!

    1. I would like to get back into yoga this week, mainly for the meditation, because I've been pretty anxious since getting my BFP. I keep thinking it's going to go away, but yoga tends to help put me into a positive energy, so I hope it helps!

    2. Chips are so hard to say no to! I have been making my own sea salt and olive oil sweet potato fries at home, and I feel healthy for doing so  :D

    3. I'm making a big batch of lentil and veggie soup for the week, but playing it by ear other than that!

  • 1) What's your fitness goal this week? I'd love to get to yoga or barre this week.  Otherwise, I upped my daily step count goal so I'm hoping to get able to achieve that each day.

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week? Goal is to have breakfast every day, and be something actually healthy - not just cereal.

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week? I'm gonna try and have some veggies that are pre-cut so I can snack on them, and perhaps have some hummus to dip them in.  I'm also thinking about using my instant pot to make either eggs or steel cut oats to have for breakfast through the week.

@mommac2017 - Sorry the nausea is so bad! Like others said, at least your trying and keeping it in mind.

  • 1) What's your fitness goal this week? Last month I did the 21 day sugar detox diet, didn't finish but lost 7lbs. I have gained back 5 of them. I want to do a modified version, but not sure I have the will power since I'm constantly starving lol. I'm also nauseous a lot and drink ginger ale/eat carbs. I guess my goal is to continue with my personal training sessions 3 days a week and cardio 4-5 days.

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week? Not eat carbs at every meal. I almost bought a whole cake at publix  yesterday. I spent 15 minutes going back and forth before putting it back. So, my goal is to not eat all the sugar/carbs in the house.

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week? Egg whites for breakfast daily.

@mommac2017 I'm sorry your not feeling well. First trimester is really hard. Just trying is a win! Do you have Trader Joe's where you live? They have so many great veggie mixes, salads, prewashed veggie bags, it makes it so much easier.

@beautyundefined I'll have to check out those videos.

@chocolateslife I did Togo during my first pregnancy and really liked it.

@tennis11785 how do you track steps? I'm thinking of buying a Fitbit or something, but not sure if it's worth the money.

  • @flgirl20134 - I have a fitbit.  I've got the blaze, and I really like it.  It was a bit pricey, but it has held up really well.  Plus - I like that it syncs with my phone and I can see emails, texts, phone calls, fb alerts, etc from it.

    1) What's your fitness goal this week? Go to my yoga classes 4 times this week.

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week? I'm struggling a bit with vomiting. It seems to be triggered by food, and completely at random. So I guess just doing what I can to avoid throwing up.

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week? No, not really. I get a little over whelmed with food prep. I get really excited about it, and usually don't end up eating what i;ve prepared. I am going to make black bean soup tonight for dinner. But only because I've been craving it for like a week lol

  • 1) What's your fitness goal this week?  I just need to get out and walk more. My first pregnancy I was able to walk to and from work everyday and it really helped keep my weight gain at a healthy level. This time, with having to take DS to daycare, walking to work isn't an option. I've been super sedentary and I hate it!

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week? I'm determined to eat clean!

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week? No, but I should. I'm getting ready to head to the grocery store to pick up food for the week.
  • @emwj10187 I hear you on the food prep! I love the idea of it, but always end up overwhelming myself with ideas and end up doing nothing. My Pinterest board looks like I'm a meal prep expert though.  :D

  • @flgirl20134, no Trader Joe's here :( but I am thinking I should buy some bagged salad and fruit/veggie trays. More expensive but maybe I'll eat them.

@ChocolateIsLife, I can't even drink ginger ale anymore without being nauseous. I have drank so much of it to try to help the nausea that it's now making me think of puking. It's a vicious cycle!
  • 1)What's your fitness goal this week?
To workout whether at home or at the gym every day this week. I skipped four days last week due to the non-stop snow storms we've been having but I felt terrible with a decrease of energy, crazy cravings, and overall just terrible. I feel a lot better overall when I exercise daily.

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week?
To eat more salads, and to take my vitamins every day. I failed at this also last week.

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week?
Today I made bean-less chili, cauliflower rice, grilled pork, and quiche to have easy to grab items during the week. Additionally, they are all individually portioned and truly ready to just grab and go when I need them.
  • @mommac2017 hugs girl that sounds miserable. FX you find some relief soon.

    1) What's your fitness goal this week? walk everyday as long as it's not pouring rain

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week? quit eating dessert every night (gotta start somewhere lol).

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week? I'm currently working on my grocery list and meal plan for the week. I'm officially sick of everything we normally eat. Anyone have any healthy dinner recipes they'd like to share? About 80% of my meals come from skinnytaste.com. Bonus points if it packs well for leftovers the next day (DH brings his lunch to work and it's almost always leftovers).

    1) What's your fitness goal this week?
I am planning on starting a 1st trimester yoga routine tomorrow. Maybe even some strength stuff.

    2) What's your healthy eating goal this week?
I need to get more water in me. Also, want to cut back on the sweets. More fruit and veggies.

    3) Any meal plans you have ready for the week?
A few. Simple cooked chicken, rice/quinoa, and green veggies.... tilapia, salad and veggies....salad with chicken.... and for breakfast my easy go to of plain whole grain waffle, fruit, egg whites and turkey sausages.

  • 1) My fitness goal this week is to run 5x - I've been lucky so far and fairly symptomless, but definitely playing it by ear.
    2) My healthy eating goal is to make 10 servings of fruit/veggies my daily top priority and keep the junk in check.
    3) I'm planned and shopped through Thursday - highlights include jalapeño popper chicken, and stuffed banana peppers (this bun is a spicy one)

What do you guys like? I am infamous for baking a turkey once a month. We eat leftovers as sandwiches and salads during the week and then I make soup. Super easy and cheap when you don't attach the rest of the thanksgiving fixings to it too!

  • @purplestars, most of my meals also come from skinny taste! Love her recipes!!
  • Ummm my goal is to actually come up with and stick to some goals. Namely, giving up soda and starting an exercise routine with my son.

    @mommac2017 they are the best!

@mountainmartha never thought of making a turkey outside of thanksgiving! Haha I may have to try that. One big problem is my DH can't stand fish (which I love), and DD has a egg and nut allergy. Other than that (which I realize can be a lot lol) we like most anything! I love using my crockpot or any recipe where I can prep things ahead of time when DD is napping. I love to cook but it's hard with a toddler!

I just finished this workout and OMG, I'm jello! The video is just showing you how to do the exercises , not how many reps. I did 3 sets of 10reps for each exercise she shows. Took about 30 minutes and I am beat!

  • I prepped healthy snacks, frozen blueberries, hard boiled eggs, nuts, chunky monkey ice cream (frozen bananas w/ pb), protein balls.  Trying to workout 4-5 days a week which has been tricky with the exhaustion but I got beach body on demand so I have lots of workout options...I stick with something light like pilates or yoga on days I'm extra tired.
