We had spaghetti last night and might have leftovers tonight. Haha. We haven't actually talked about it. He did say he got me a present but I don't know what. I'm actually fine with not doing much. I mostly like Valentine's because it's the anniversary of when I first developed a crush on him. Haha. Valentine's Day 2010 I fell for him pretty hard, though he took a little longer to get there.
For him, I took an hour on Friday to drive down to his favorite custard place and picked up three pints of his favorite flavor. I told him if he found his present sooner he could have it, otherwise he'd have to wait. He went two days with it in plain sight in the freezer before he found it. But he finally did. I was kind of hoping he would because I got myself one pint and wanted to eat it!
I have a group session tonight so I won't be home until basically bedtime. I did go get DH some beer from a brewery that he likes over the weekend while he was at a conference. I put that and a V-day card out for him early this morning... and I found out that he kinda forgot about Valentines Day (we don't make much of a big deal out of it so I'm not surprised honestly). So I'll be interested to see what's waiting for me when I get home tonight!
Updated: I had cookies from this yummy cookie shop at my desk from DH when I got back from my walk. I ate one right away, another just now and it's taking me all my willpower not to crush the third one. If I didn't have to work tonight and could just ride the sugar wave until I crashed, I probably would!
DH went out to the store last night after dinner to grab DS some valentines cards for his school (nothing like last minute, right). I know he bought me something (probably just candy) because he asked if we had money to buy me something too. I thought I'd get it this morning because he usually sets everything out in the morning, but I got nothing...maybe he didn't buy me anything. Or he's waiting until after work. Idk...
We agreed to make our 3D ultrasound last weekend our Vday gift to each other. He says he is still going to get me flowers (brightly colored daisies are my favorite!) but I really don't care either way. I got him a card. We are just hanging at home. When I left for work this morning and DH was still in bed he asked what was wrong. I started crying, said "everything", and left for work. Ah, what a lucky guy he is to deal with hormonal me today
@KirstinH88 I know this is so not romantic, but I wish DH had asked me if we had the money before he bought me a dozen roses. Yeah, they're beautiful, but we just had to spend a lot of extra money Sunday to get home when our flight was cancelled. TBH, I'd rather get flowers on a random day (during a month where we were a little more flush...) than get them on Valentine's Day. But of course I didn't say that to him.

We are just hanging out at home tonight. DH is cooking a nice meal and I am making dessert His birthday is the 13th, so we usually go out for his birthday dinner (we went out last night) and then just relax on home on the 14th. Going out 2 days in a row is too expensive! It makes me feel better that a lot of you also have a pretty low-key valentine's day with your partner! Sometimes I feel like I am the only one, scrolling through my instagram feed of diamond earrings and roses and chocolates lol
I have class tonight from 6-9 so we're having homemade pizza and Caesar salad and snuggling in an attempt to make up for the mess that was last night (see why my pregnant self is crying...) he feels terrible about it all so I'm sure he will be extra loving tonight
I told my husband to focus on our daughter since we don't really have a lot of money right now. My dad and grandfather always did something special for me and my sister that would make us look forward to Valentine's Day. He got her flowers (she's obsessed with flowers) and balloons and went to work late so he had time for a daddy daughter breakfast AND to let me sleep in for once!! When I came out of the bedroom she was so excited to show off what she got. I later realized he also hid cards around the house for me - I just found one in the fridge. They're all hysterically inappropriate so it's keeping me pretty entertained today. i have to say our lives have been extremely chaotic and stressful lately so it's been really tense a lot and sometimes hes a gigantic, frustrating pain in the butt, but he really makes me not even care if we end up having to live in a cardboard box on the corner as long as he's around I'm all set.
I am super not into Valentine's Day. I kind of wish I was because our lives are so busy and who knows the next time I'll get flowers from DH, but I just can hardly remember. I wrote DD's valentine's for her class this morning at 7:15 am.
We are having a relaxed Valentine's day. DH originally made reservations to a restaurant, but after discussion we decided to cancel. Instead, we will cook together and then eat together. Much more fun in my opinion and with baby coming very soon, I want to save as much as we can.

@catem07 I am the accountant in our house. I keep track of expenses and bank accounts and especially now with him not working, he asks me if he can buy something with almost every purchase. I kind of like it cuz I'm a type A control freak.
We didn't do much for Valentine's Day, but we did exchange sappy cards and I cooked a regular old dinner for us. DH suggested we go to brunch this weekend to have a nice date without all the crowds, and we're also doing our maternity photos which will feel special.
I had DH pick me up from work early because I'm sick and just couldn't hang anymore. Neither of us had eaten lunch, so he took me to Chipotle. He hates Chipotle, so it was definitely a Valentine treat for me. When we got home, I climbed into bed and he brought me up my Valentines surprises. A stuffed elephant (obviously will be going in Samuel's elephant nursery), a bag of airheads, and a box of suckers, a mini rose bouquet that hasn't bloomed yet, and a sweet card. Ignore DS's face below. He had cupcakes at preschool today.
DS cupcake's face is super cute! I love it when my DS's face gets all covered in frosting. They're just so cute and innocent and don't give a hoot about who's watching them eat. I wish I could eat chocolate cake and ice cream like that!!!
DH came home with flowers, a bundt cake, and a gift card for a one hour prenatal massage. And is currently making homemade alfredo. And to top it off, he has to make a quick work trip back to our old town on a Thursday so he is getting me MORE yummy donut holes
This should probably be my FFFC, but tonight my husband decided to treat us to ALL the sushi so I didn't have to cook the steak dinner I had planned (after a afternoon of meetings and volunteering at my older kiddos' school today). He's also currently building me an IKEA writing desk so I can keep my computer and household paperwork organized and on the first floor. He gets a double thumbs up from me (I just gave him some Guineas glasses and a hat he picked out and some boxer briefs, lol). Other than that we just purchased a few little things for our 4 mini sweethearts
Well DH came home with a card, in which he wrote a long note of his own (he knows my love language too haha), some dark chocolate, and a prenatal massage voucher. Good job, H!
I told DH I would rather go out and have a nice meal than give each other gifts so we are going out Saturday night and MIL is going to watch DS over night. I was a little bit sad I didn't get a card though. Even though we said we weren't getting anything we say that every year and this is the first year he really didn't get me something. But he did have DS wake me up by saying "happy Valentine's day momma, I love you" and that kinda made my day.
I had Dr appointment/ bloodwork today and missed lunch so we did an early dinner.. I also got a box of chocolates and a card from him and DD. I gave him a card and a reeses peanut butter heart..
DD got a few small gifts and chocolate.. we also bought the dog and cats some treats which DD was more excited about than anything.
Our anniversary is on Feb 6th and we go to the Melting Pot every year so we use that as our big day. On Valentine's Day we usually do cards and some candy or something. I NEVER get flowers...maybe once every couple years. I always hope I will on Valentine's Day, but never do. His reason is we are always together. But he has his motorcycle now and I know it's silly to expect him to bring home flowers on his motorcycle, but he did take a lb of ham, cheese, and an entire loaf of bread in his backpack to work this morning. I feel like flowers could have fit just fine too! Oh well,I could tell DH wasn't into it this year. I went to Target last night to get conversation hearts for my students and I picked him up some candy. We ordered Chinese and that was our day
I was pretty sure DH was going to fail at Valentine's again this year so I dropped more hints than I should have and he ended up showing me what he got a day early. He got me a box of chocolates, a mini box for DS, and a card from him and another from DS....all purchased a week ago, so I totally didn't give him the credit he deserved. I'm thrilled with chocolate though I took DS for an afternoon at the children's museum and he got to try his first chocolate covered strawberry, which he adored. Then I came home and made tacos (probably one of DHs favorite meals) and we watched a movie together. We went out for dinner on Sunday. It was a good day all around.
Woke up to flowers for me and flowers for DD with a little candies and 2 small valentine bowls(I'm a wee obsessed with different size bowls lol). I had plans of making us a decent dinner and baking cookies but a totally craptastic OB visit that turned into a L&D visit I had no energy to do anything. So it was a hodge podge dinner. We're hoping to go out Saturday night for a special date night though.
We never do anything for Valentine's Day because we both think it's commercial and lame (but definitely don't judge anyone who enjoys it!), so we had leftovers and hung out with DS. Then I took a bath and went to bed at 8:30, haha. We're so romantic!
DH totally surprised me with a new dyson hair dryer even though he's off traveling for work this week. It's ridiculous but legit, amazing. I think he's been feeling bad that although this pregnancy has been super easy, battling this sickness has been awful! Sinus infection go away already! It may have been the first morning I jumped out of bed in months just so darn excited to try it.
Haha I also joke that DH and I celebrate holidays every 3-4 years. Last time was 3 yrs ago and he got me an anniversary band that matched my wedding set for 10 years together. It's like he goes all out for 1 year and then forgets for 2-3 which seems to work just fine.
Yesterday I wasn't a horrible mom for the first time in a couple months. Poor DD1 is really getting the short end of the stick. As a SAHM I am everything for her. And unfortunately I am in so much pain I can't do much anymore. And even without the pain I can barely stay awake and now I have days of just horrible nausea. She is watching ridiculous amounts of TV and being ignored. I feel guilty every single day. Well, growing up, my mom always made Valentines day so much fun and I want to do the same for my kids. So, yesterday I sucked it up and we had fun all day. She woke up to some Valentine treats waiting for her at the table. Ran into our room to wake me up so excited. Then we made cards for family with fun supplies I had bought. And then we made heart cookies and decorated them. She had heart shaped sandwiches and strawberries with whip cream for lunch. DH was home after his interview and he made pink slimey goo with her and they played with that for hours. After her nap we went over to my in-law's house to drop off their Valentine cards and some cookies she had made. Then we made our traditional heart shaped homemade pizza, well at least 2nd annual. It actually turned out really good this year. I was soooooooooo done by the end of the day and my poor feet were just sausages. But, one day of feeling like a good mom was worth it. Honestly, I kind of forgot it is supposed to be a romantic day. There was not one romantic moment with DH. And actually at the end of the day I was pretty annoyed with him. I thought we could at least snuggle before we went to sleep a little. But, he was in the computer doing stuff. No gifts for each other or anything. I think this is the first year he didn't get me one single thing, even something small. I was ok with it. But, today I am all of a sudden feeling a little sad about it. oh well. I think we are going out Friday night to use our Red Lobster gift card that we get from the in-laws for Christmas every year. Some lobster will make me feel better.
For fun, here we were last night.
And because she is just my favorite thing ever. She was snuggling with baby sister.
@mrsstuessey, Aw, your daughter is ADORABLE!! DS likes to cuddle up to my belly at bedtime and say he wants to sleep by baby sister. I love it!
Totally get you on the feeling like a mom fail most days! Glad your day yesterday was good though!
DH and I "celebrated" on Sunday by going to a dinner thing with some friends a local church was putting on for a fundraiser for their youth group. Paid $25, got dinner for both of us, child care for DS, they fed DS and we got to enjoy some time with friends we don't get to hang out with much. Last night he surprised me with a new purse which he said he went to 9 different stores before he found "the one." The clerk couldn't believe his wife was "letting him" pick out a purse for her - honestly he always finds way better ones than I can! Plus he was proud to share with me he was a bargain shopper too as he knows I love that! Haha! He also got me a cute card. I got him a card, skittles (his favorite) and then a silicone wedding band to start using as spring time comes up with yard work and softball playing. He is always temporarily "losing" his actual one so we've been wanting to get him one for awhile. DS was thrilled with his M&Ms we got him.
@mrsstuessy you are certainly not alone in feeling like a mom fail. My daughter has had more TV and iPad time than ever when DH is working. Thankfully DH has upped his game while he is slow at work.. but I still feel horrible that I've sucked! Hang in there I'm sure she's not as bothered by it as you are!
$25 for dinner and childcare? You got an awesome deal! And yes, your hubs is brave picking out a purse for you! Knowing my DH, he'd probably pick something out with cats, polka dots, or cows (b/c we're in Texas)
DH and I always make each other homemade cards. They are always funny and more personal than store bought cards and it makes for a fun/ cheap tradition. He also surprised me with some really pretty flowers and a box of cookies. It was sweet and so thoughtful! We don't usually do a whole lot for Valentine's Day, just keep it simple
Re: Happy Valentine's Day!
Tonight, I think we're going to stay home, chill, and cook our little Valentine (DS) his favorite meal...spaghetti!
