Daycare vs Education Center (Early Headstart)

Happy V-day!

Recently, another mommy from the same daycare said she was moving her son to another daycare close by, which is supposedly an early headstart for infants. This is run by a PhD who has taught for close to 30 years in elementary schools. The wait list for that day care was like a year's worth of waitlist when I first inquired in May 2016.
I've been thinking about this more and am wondering if my son should be put on the wait list. I know the director is a former professor from the university as well, and I want the best education for my son. I know he's young and the daycare worker at his current location told us that she went to a conference in where the presenter gave research that indicates that children thrive more when they're just left to be kids.
What does everyone think? I'm trying to do research. I want to tour this facility and I already know that my son will enroll in private school when he turns 3.

    Sounds like he's already gonna have a great start when you enroll him at 3.  I've been meeting with various children experts and they all agree that mom is the best teacher and that kids who spend time chatting and playing with mom develop language and problem solving skills faster.  Social interaction with other kids is also super important at this stage so I say let him be a kid in daycare and have some educational fun at home.

    Thing is that we hardly have him. I work late twice a week and my hubs coaches a stupid basketball team that pulls him away a lot. So he's often in daycare from 7am-6pm. Weekends, he visits grandparents.

     That stinks. Then I say check the place out and see if it feels like a good fit.

    If that's the case do what feels right. I'm sure either would be fine for his development, but you need to be comfortable 100% if you're away that much.

    Definitely visit both and make a decision after that. We just signed Jackie up for daycare and I was certain I'd want an established facility over in home care, but after visiting both I completely changed my mind because the in home care was so much more clean, safe, and personal, even though the ratios are about the same. As far as which program is better, I'm sure they both have their benefits and either way they'll be of fun to a great start.
