My lovely labour buddy, @floatingelephy went into labour yesterday while I was finishing up giving birth. I will let her update you with the details, but she had her baby boy this morning and they are both doing well! ❤
Was definitely not expecting to go AWOL on my labour buddy! On Saturday evening we picked my Dad up from the airport and went out for dinner (I was checking my phone for updates from srscott3 haha). We went home and were playing a board game when contractions started - 1 minute long and 3 to 4 minutes apart for an hour. So we went to the hospital around 10:30 p.m thinking that I'd be nowhere near ready, but I wanted peace of mind. I was 5cm and they admitted me. I laboured in the shower for about an hour and then got the urge to push and my nurse was like "we don't usually do another check until it's been 2 hours, but I can if you'd like" I said yes and I was 9cm. None of us were expecting that. She brought out a birthing ball and just as I was leaning forward my water broke. I was not mentally prepared for the pushing, but with some on the spot coaching from my nurse got through.
Baby Lachlan James arrived at 1:06am weighing 9lbs 3oz. They don't measure height here until they've had a few days to unfold. But he's definitely going to be a rugby player.
