Possible LP defect?

Age:26+

Cycle length: 40-42 (I have gone from Perfect 30 day cycle to short 20 day cycle and now this)

LP: when I was bbt charting back in 2013 11-16 days (generally around 15, rarely around 11 when my cycles were short) now I don't know

Miscarriages:3

Kids:1 after 3 miscarriages (was on innohep- no real reason why I was put on it, the dr felt my reports were wrong and I had some problem (inspite of taking all the tests thrice and everything turning out normal)I took the shots because I did every other thing in my capacity

I started bbt this month, and ovulation occured on cycle day 17, I still haven't got my periods 22dpo I still have a few more days left if it's a 42 day cycle.

I want to know if LP of 22-25 days is something of concern when ttc.

I know I need to go to a dr if it is, but it's just my first month charting after stopping breastfeeding, so I thought I should ask here fast.

Sorry about any errors English is not my first language.

I haven't charted after 4th because I have been very tired and sick so cannot get up in my usual temping time, I sleep past the alarm sound. I get up like 3+ hours from my usual temping time.

I am not great at charts, but it may well be an anovulatory cycle, a LP of 20+ days is almost impossible, the ideal is 14 with a variation of 2-3 days either side still being fine, less than 9 or more than 16 is a concern.

In saying that, if it has been more than 60 days with no period and no positive test then you need to see your doctor to discuss.

if you have only just stopped breast feeding than an anovulatory or very long cycle is fairly normal while your body and hormones regulate. This can take up to and including 12 months.

if this is your first cycle after breast feeding it could be annovulatory. Have you taken a test yet? is this your first postpartum period? I second @PartiallyDomesticated if you go 60 days without a period or positive test than call your doctor. LPs are 12-16 days in length.

@Goldpepper I second the request to put a trigger warning for loss and raise you a request to put questions like this in the chart stalk thread. I think you should drop that super low temp. Do you still have dotted cross hairs there then? If you tend to O early in your cycle, you may want to temp throughout the whole thing.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • This is a perfect post for our chart stalk thread!

i don't think you ovulated yet, based on your chart minus the one random low temp. The LP is no longer than 16 days. 22 is impossible. You'd have a positive HPT right now if you ovulated when FF says you did. Take out the low temp and see what FF does, and try to keep temping. As others said, if you still don't have a period 60 days after stopping BFing then call your doc about jump starting it with medication.

  • Ok,  I didn't know annovulation was a possibility. Thanks

Oh I am sorry I did read the newbie thread abt trigger, but I thought has to be mentioned when the discussion is about it.

It's my second cycle, last one was also 40 days long.

    I haven't taken a test yet.

I'll chart couple of more months before going to the dr about LP.
    Thanks
  • My dotted cross hair did not appear due to the low temp (I also feel i noted it during sleep by mistake) they appeared once I added EWCM and ovulation pain (I had pulling tugging feeling) after the app detected ovulation on day 17

Thank you, actually last time when I was pregnant, both urine test at home and the one at lab and a blood test was negative 2days after a missed period. It showed up only after 25 days of missed period, that is why I did not take one now.

I too feel it could be annovulation.
    Thanks
  • @goldpepper: Then take a test. Even a cheapie would work fine at this point. Either you haven't ovulated or you are pregnant. Those are really the only two real possibilities here.
  • Wait... why on Earth would you not have taken a test yet?  Why would you post here without taking a test?

Girl - go pee on a stick.  Right meow.

And if it's positive congrats and please move straight on over to your BMB.

I completely missed that! The talk of CDs and dates in posts like these always confuse me. Unless...OP, did you have sex around the time FF says you ovulated? Because the only reason not to test is if you haven't had sex.

Well she said she was TTC so I'm guessing probably yes, she did have sex around that time.  But also if you were TTC why the heck would you wait so long to test?

the luteal phase is 10-16 days in humans, although 14-16 is average. If your LP is more than 16 days (and you aren't pregnant) then your O date is likely incorrect.
