I am required to be physically fit for my job, so my main goal is to maintain my current fitness level as much as possible throughout the pregnancy. So far my workouts have only changed slightly - I do daily crossfit-type workouts, so I alter the activities that involve heavy impact (box jumping, etc). But I also do a fair bit of weightlifting, which my dr wants me to curtail a good deal going into the 2nd trimester (though I will still be able to use freeweights to an extent), so that will be a challenge. I lost a lot of muscle tone with my last pregnancy, though tbh I didn't make much of an effort last time - relied on swimming (non-intensive) and yoga a few times a week. But I'm still concerned about the same thing happening again.  If anyone has any tips would love to hear them.

  • I plan to exercise a few times a week. I feel like it helps a ton PP to stay physically active during the pregnancy. I usually start swimming at least twice a week and lift weights at least one. I should probably be lifting twice a week too.

I'm currently finishing up pelvic rest so I haven't exercised at all this week.
  • I'm lucky to get one run a week done. But with chasing a toddler all the time, I figure that's going to have to be good enough  :p
  • @Emeraldcity pelvic rest doesn't sound fun at all! Obviously important. But not fun! This is my first so I had big hopes and dreams of just sailing through and running similar to my usual. I didn't realize just how utterly exhausted I could feel....so needless to say it hasn't been going according to plan!

@Carebella I can't imagine! It's hard enough getting myself out the door to run as it is!

  • I have been so sick with strep and haven't worked out in over a week. I plan on walking or doing a fitnessblender video today.

Crossfit/Run at least 3 times a week and yoga once a week

I made it to Crossfit twice last week and also my weekly yoga session!  I am most nauseous at night so after I get home from work it is a struggle to get my butt to class. Hopefully it will pass in a few more weeks when I enter second trimester but until then I will listen to my body.  If I need rest then I will rest and not force myself to workout.
