  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? 7+3

Anyone have an appointment this week? by this time next week we will have hopefully seen the heartbeat!! Appt on Wednesday.

Cravings/Symptoms? not so much cravings, more aversion to food :(

Rants/Raves/Randoms? just so excited to still be coming along.

    Questions?

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public? our four parents and my brother know. My Canadian ku coworker knows because I was picking her brain on resources and clinics to go to. She also brought me saltines today, so yay!! (Nothing like them seem to exist here....)

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it? math and music were my favourite. I am a math teacher, but stopped playing music in uni when the orchestra practices were at the same time as our weekly exams...(we had an exam for one of our courses on Monday nights 6-8 out of 12 weeks in the term...)

  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids?  9+6, singleton (yay!!) and I have a 14m DS.

Anyone have an appointment this week?  Nope, the next one isn't until I have my 12w NT u/s, on 2.28.17.

Cravings/Symptoms?  My nausea really died down this week, which felt like the biggest miracle ever.  This happened with DS, and then came back with a vengeance, so I'm not holding my breath that it's over yet.

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I just saw the post for our friend who was still TTGP (I don't know if I should tag her or not, I don't think I will right now) and my heart is breaking for her.  I can't imagine.  I wish I could give her the biggest hug right now.

Questions?  Do any other STM+ have recommendations for double strollers?  Are they even worth it?  We already have a regular stroller, and one that is a frame stroller for the infant car seat.  I don't really want to buy another one, especially after seeing how huge the double strollers are.

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public?  Way more people know than I wanted to at this point, although it doesn't feel like as nearly a big of a deal as with DS.  Friends we went to Disney with know (bc I had to skip drinking/ roller coasters), and we told our parents last week.  A couple close friends, too.  The rest find out by FB announcement after the NT u/s.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it?  English.  I loveeeeeeeee reading.  Love.It.  I was also a science nerd, and I made laboratory research my career.  I was one class shy of an English minor in college, though!

  • @BigBadWolf12 GL with the u/s!!  It's so exciting to see the baby for the first time.
@RedBreast35 Happy to see you over here!  I'm really glad the u/s went well.  I didn't get an early u/s with DS, the first was at 12w, so last week was the first time I had an internal u/s.  Not fun, but worth it.  I was wondering why we hadn't seen some of the TTGP much as well.  I feel like the really restrictive format these days kind of cuts down on posts, though.

8+0, I'll let you know this afternoon (!), no other kids

Anyone have an appointment this week?
    U/s today at 3:00 (why didn't I schedule it for the morning!  :s )

    Cravings/Symptoms?
Really emotional the past few days. I think it's related to my stress about today's appointment.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?
I tried to catch up on TTGP this morning  :'(

    Questions?

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public?
I've told all my friends and both of our families know.  And they all know about our loss.  DH is going to tell his best friend after our appointment today.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it?
I really miss art.  I work in science, so not alot of creative outlet.  But I do regular craft days with my girlfriends.

  • @Redbreast35 I'm doing well! I find I'm so tired that I don't have much energy to get out there in the big threads :D I just stick to my checkin threads and my private group....and sleep.

@jnr6510 uhm, your COWORKER announced to your OTHER coworkers on your behalf? What the heck did you do? I would have been so mad. How in the world would (s)he think that was their business to tell? or did it accidentally slip out and they felt horrible (which would also suck, but I would personally be less angry at them if it was accidental....)

@jmn1985 omg, GL at your U/S!!! Mine (next week) is scheduled for 8:30 am and I'm planning to be at work (a 3 minute walk away) to teach my lesson that starts at 9:30...will leave plans in case we're not back by then, but I got thinking: what if it's bad news? I'm obviously not going to go to work if it's bad news...so do I just trust that it will be good news? or leave plans in secret on my desk in case I need to call in and be like, yea, I'm not coming for the rest of the day either? iyyyyy....it made me wish I scheduled it for the afternoon. I'm really trying to not play the "what if?" game, but it's so hard!

  • @redbreast35 I'm still here!  I haven't been posting much because I'm right there with you on feeling like flaming garbage.
@ColoradoHiker I saw that too and I'm so sad for her :(

How far along are you? Singleton, multiples?
other kids? 8+6  Also have a DD who is 3.

Anyone have an appointment this week? today is my first prenatal and we should get another U/S!

Cravings/Symptoms? the nausea just won't quit with this one.  I just got ginger pills this morning and hoping they will help.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I miss the daily interaction of TTGP!

    Questions? None

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public? Our parents and siblings know.  We told a few friends after we saw the baby and heartbeat last week. We will probably tell other close friends after the U/S today and I'm not sure if we will ever go completely public.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it? I really liked chemistry a lot in college, to the point that I got a minor in it by accidentally taking so many classes. I worked in the field of public services until my DD was born and now I work for myself in a direct sales role that I actually love and it is going really well.  I am not a sales or fashion person but the opportunity presented itself and is working so....

How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? 7 weeks 1 day Singleton for sure...we will find out tomorrow if our sacco and eggo are actually eggo and eggo.

Anyone have an appointment this week? Friday US (week 7) because they saw an additional sac when doing my week 6 US and they want to see if it has shrunk with stopping taking asprin or if it has grown and it has a heartbeat.

Cravings/Symptoms? Needing to eat all day long to avoid not feeling good. Heartburn/headaches, face is breaking out

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?
Rants: Really just wanting to lounge around the house all weekend...not looking forward to having to do the (5 hour each direction) drive to do the US.
Also not looking forward to trying to do the long list of all the TTC costs over the past year so I can bring them to taxes.

Raves: Glad we are going to see the baby/babies this Friday and glad that are staying on top of whatever is going on.
Glad that we could get medical tax deductions even if it takes extra effort.

Randoms: I think my parent in laws are going to go in with me to see the US this friday. That should be surreal.

    Questions?
What are you guys doing for valentines day?
    Any winter travels planned?

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? my family/his family, my mom's friends, his mom's friends, his dad's friends, my close friends, my mom's church friends, people my mom sees at the coffee shop etc.

I told my boss yesterday because I knew others that are friends with her knew and didn't want her to find out 2nd hand.

What are your plans on telling others / public?

We are planning to announce on FB Valentines day week if all goes well on our US. So many people are finding out through word of mouth (from other people)...I would rather they get the announcement from me. I know its early but if we have a loss I would want the support of others. It says "After years of trying all we can say is" and then we have a onsie that says Uff Da on it, "we are in" "LO" Booties shaped in a V "E" and then at the bottom it says our due month and year.

  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? 6+5, not super sure until Monday, one furbaby

Anyone have an appointment this week? on Monday morning! So nervous and excited!

Cravings/Symptoms? nausea has set in a little. It's not debilitating, but it's not fun either. But it makes me happy since it wasn't this bad with my first pregnancy. I also want all the sweets this time, which is different than last time.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? The next two months are going to be nuts both at work and home, with lots of big meetings and conferences and seeing all our family over the next month (we live across the country). Just trying to enjoy this last week before it starts, and get the house in order.

Questions? I asked this in PGAL too, but what are your thoughts on dopplers? I'd love to get one for about week 9 or 10 on, but don't know how I'd handle it if I just couldn't find the HB. I was a little freaked last time after LO stopped growing at 8 weeks but I didn't find out until week 12.

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public? just DH and my BFF. I told BFF last week because she's also a co-worker, and I have an upcoming experiment requiring formaldehyde and a mutagen, and I'm hoping she'll help me out with it. I'd like to tell our family as we see them over the next two months, but DH is hesitant after we shared around 9 weeks last time before learning of our loss. I feel like I'd rather they know either way, plus I hate keeping secrets, especially if I need to lie about why I'm not drinking. I'll probably tell work when I hit second tri

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it? science classes, especially biology, although I also loved choir. Now I'm in research, so definitely use it every day. I miss being in a choir though!

@JNR6510  Usually the sugar testing is only in second tri, but I understand due to your past with insulin resistance.  If it is for the 1 hr test, you go to a lab, have a base level blood draw, and drink a really sugary drink within a certain time period.  Then you wait in the waiting room until the hour is up, and they draw blood.  If your doctor did not specify, check as to whether it should be fasting or non-fasting.  I believe my midwives recommended a low sugar, high protein breakfast (eg, eggs) beforehand.

If you fail the one hour test, you will have to do a 3 hour test.  Most women who fail the 1 hour, pass the 3 hour, but that's not a guarantee.  I think this one is a fasting test (anyone with experience here that wants to chime in?).  Same idea, just a longer wait time, and blood is drawn prior to testing, and every hour afterwards.

    ETA-
@icecubeinthedesert I have strong feelings about this, lol.  I saw this a lot on N15 board, and there was a post a few days ago that you may want to reference.  I'll start with this- my midwives with DS and now don't do Doppler checks before 12w due to the possibility of having a really hard time picking up the heartbeat.  It really scares moms, and it isn't necessary to cause that kind of stress when more than likely everything is okay.  At home, you're probably more likely to pick up your own heartbeat, and the Dopplers you can get are not the professional ones that the doctor's offices have.  If you know that not finding the heartbeat at home will freak you out, don't do it.  After around 12w you should be able to find it without much issue.  I just don't see a reason to cause yourself that much stress, although I do understand the desire for reassurance, especially when PGAL.

  • jmn1985  Uff da (sometimes also spelled uffda) is an exclamation or interjection expressing bafflement, surprise, exhaustion, relief, and dismay.

When something big happens I might say Uff Da,  or if I lift something heavy I might say Uff Da after setting it down or lifting it up, I might say Uff Da after a long day of work when I plop myself on the couch in the evening,  or if someone was working on a big work project I might say Uff Da you have a lot going on ,or if someone told me about a hard problem they were dealing with I might say Uff Da in response.

You can sometimes use it in place of oy vey.

I would say it is a pretty Minnesota saying...more likely norwegian or swedish or something like that to start out.

  • @BecauseLove and @jmn1985 I can confirm it's a Norwegian thing. My grandma used to say it all the time, and had a coffee mug that just said Uff Da on it. It's the only thing I wanted when she passed, but I didn't claim it in time. Luckily a friend of mine found the exact same mug at a Norwegian themed store in WI and remembered me saying this and got it for me!

  • @ColoradoHiker Thanks for the info! I definitely am not looking forward to at least two sugar tests. Hopefully I won't have to do the 3 hour tests!

@BigBadWolf12 I was a bit shocked so I really didn't say much. Just tried to gracefully accept the congratulations from my colleagues. One of my male co-workers totally called her out on how rude it was right then and there so there really wasn't much more to be said. I don't know if it was intentional or not. It was a lunch meeting and she announced by saying "JNR6510's pregnant so let's hurry up and order!"
  • @jnr6510 wow, weird. Good for your coworker to call her out though! I'm trying to imagine her reaction :D

  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? 10+4, just one!

Anyone have an appointment this week? Had my first OBGYN appointment yesterday.  Included in the bloodwork is NIPT, so we'll find those results (plus the sex of the baby) in about 10 days.  NT scan is also in 2 weeks.

Cravings/Symptoms?  I feel like just today my symptoms are starting to let up a little.  I'm starting to get an appetite back.  Thank goodness!!

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  Since I'm actually starting to feel like a normal human again, I'm just so excited.  I think knowing that all this testing is happening and that our NT scan is coming up soon just makes is so much more REAL.

    Questions? Nope

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public?  Initially, we told our immediate families and my 2 best friends.  I had to tell my immediate team at work around 6w because I was just so sick, there was no hiding it.  Since we hit double digit weeks, I've been slowly telling more people that I want to tell personally versus having them find out through word of mouth.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it?
I loved Psychology and Spanish, mostly because they were my favorite teachers in HS.  I ended up majoring in Psychology but didn't pursue it as a career.

  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids? 11w+1d/Singleton/FTM

Anyone have an appointment this week? I just had blood drawn for our genetic screening. Two more weeks for my next actual appt.

Cravings/Symptoms? Cravings aren't as intense, but I still get random cravings/aversions every now and then. Only new symptom is that I'm getting really hot in my sleep, which isn't fun. Also, officially living with a belly band or wearing leggings. Regular pants don't button comfortably any more.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Rants-- Nervously waiting on screening results. I also apparently lost a diamond out of my engagement ring, so I have to get that replaced. :( Rave-- I'm going to my college town this weekend to see my best college friends and tell them the big news :)

Questions? I did ask this on the FTM check-in, but any baby book recommendations? I feel like I've read/own several about pregnancy, but I want to feel more prepared for taking care of LO when they arrive.

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public? Our parents/siblings, close friends, and I told our boss (DH and I work at the same place) I'll tell more of my close friends this weekend. Waiting for test results and my next check-up at 13 weeks before we tell more people at work and make the public/social announcement.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it? Writing & journalism. Yep! I'm a TV News producer, so I write stories every day. :)

  • How far along are you? Singleton, multiples? other kids?
    8+5 singleton and I have a 33month old DS

Anyone have an appointment this week?
    next week the 16th

    Cravings/Symptoms?
ice tea craving, I had to go buy decaf tea bc I'm positive I'm drinking too much!  Fairly symptom free... which causes me great anxiety! mostly aversions to everything but fruit and carbs...

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?
not much going on here either...

    Questions?
Anyone out there 35, or over not been offered the cell free DNA genetic testing?  My first prenatal appointment is next Thursday and I want to ask about it.

pregnancy GTKY: who knows already? What are your plans on telling others / public?
Most of our family know, had to spill the beans early bc of some family drama.  In turn most of my close friends know, bc I like them more than family so why not tell them too...,Public announcement won't be until March probably.

NBR GTKY: favourite subject in school? Did you end up doing anything related to it?
Art was my favorite subject in school! I am analyst for an insurance company, so nothing creative involved in my job at all!
