Re: PGAL Check In 2/6

  • 1. How far along are you? 34w3d
    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Full term in just 2.5 weeks! YES!
    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Even though this is our first baby, I really didn't think I would get to have a shower because all my family and most of my friends are out of state... And my best friend just had twins - so she's naturally quite busy. But work asked me if they could throw me a small shower and I am SOOO touched. It's this Thursday. It won't be a large group and I am not expecting any extravagant gifts, but the thought that they are putting this together for me means the world to me...
    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? I hadn't planned on it, but then I took a picture of my foot the other day to show someone how bad the swelling was and I saw how horrendous my toenails look and now I'm thinking I might need a pedicure... lol

  • 1. How far along are you? 35 weeks 6 days

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? I have an appointment next week where I will be 37 weeks- FULL TERM! Can't believe it!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Went and did a tour of the pediatrician's office I had chosen today and felt really food from the visit. The staff seem friendly, the office is clean and I like that there are separate waiting rooms for well/sick babies and children. They also have 2 nurses that are lactation consultants and a dietitian on staff if there is any issues with feeding or gaining/losing weight. The hours are very flexible too so overall I think I am happy with my decision! I started packing my hospital bag and DH and bought the final items we thought we needed for baby over the weekend- a bassinet and more diapers/wipes. I think we are ready!

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage? I did a prenatal massage a couple weeks ago- it was so nice especially because I was having big issues with feet swelling at that time. I did my hair before my baby shower but plan to get a pedicure...maybe next week- my feet are not looking so great because obviously I can't reach down there to do anything with them!

@JustAnotherUsername16 That is so nice of your co-workers to throw you a baby shower. I had mine at work last week and it was so sweet- it just makes you feel good that people around you are excited and want to support you during this special time in your life!
  • Im sorry you both are dealing with swelling! I had it pretty bad with DS. If you like it start drinking lemon water. It made a huge difference for me. And if you can add another pillow to your sleep arrangement prop those puppies up!

@Spartanrd4 sounds like you have yourself an awesome ped practice picked out! Annnnnd you just reminded me I need to pack the hospital bag. We're doing home birth but I don't want to be nieve to the possibility of having to transfer.

@JustAnotherUsername16 SO stinking sweet they are throwing you a shower. I hope you really enjoy!

    1. How far along are you? 36.1!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to?

My midwife is bringing the pool over for our next appointment!!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:

    Every. Single. Night.

I'm having terrible vivid dreams that DD is born in some awful way and there is an issue. I have no idea where this is coming from bc in general I feel like I've been pretty positive lately. Just feels put of left field then ofc I can't go back to sleep. Have a seriously intense toddler running the show... it all feels like I'm starting a snowball towards being overwhelmed.

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage?

Seriosuly idk when the last time I got a haircut was. I think I've had one since DS was born (16 mo ago) So hopefully I can figure out how to fit it in.

I went for a pedicure last week. Yall.. the last time I got a pedicure was July 2015 before my shower for DS. I paid for the extra for calf massage/treatments/the whole 9.

It was awful. I couldn't relax bc she kept asking me if I was okay. And the "massage" was her barely touching me. I was so upset.

    *exhale*

  • @vino831 So sorry your pedicure wasn't as relaxing as you'd hoped, especially since you'd paid extra. My recent pedicure involved literally hitting, smacking, and mercilessly kneading my calves. I felt like a piece of veal and was SO sure I'd be sporting bruises down the front of my legs the next day. I was shocked that I wasn't. Even more shocked that the muscles weren't noticeably sore.

@spartanrd4 My sisters treated me to a pedicure the following day of my baby shower. It's nice to not feel like I have cavemen feet, lol!

@JustAnotherUsername16 How sweet of your coworkers to be throwing you a shower! :) Enjoy!

    1. How far along are you? 35 weeks; where is the time going?!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Friday for a check-up and hemoglobin check. Levels were a bit low at the 28-week appt.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I just need to get my long-term sub plans done and then LO can come any day now. :) I mean, I want her to be as close to term as possible, but if she decides to arrive early, I at least want to know my job is covered. We basically have everything we need at the house now, even if it's not set up yet (e.g. the PnP). Her bassinet is basically ready to go though, and diapers and wipes are arriving on my doorstep this week.

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage? DH has hinted at a prenatal massage in store for me this Saturday as my birthday gift, although it could well be something completely else. (And I'm only assuming it's a massage because I strongly hinted to him that I could use one!) Otherwise, I might treat myself to a nice haircut at a salon & spa - the kind where they massage your scalp and offer neck rubs. But if my hair keeps looking more and more split-ended, a Great Clips run might suffice! ;)
  • @Spartanrd4 I'm so happy you found a pediatrician practice that you feel so comfortable with! Also, I am so jealous of how prepared you are... I still don't have a hospital bag packed - yikes!
@vino831 I'm so sorry about the dreams! Dream me also tends to take my mind to the worst places. Also, I'm so sorry the pedicure experience was terrible. Did she just assume you were fragile because you are pregnant? Super weird.
@dubcompanion You should definitely treat yourself to the nice haircut! Especially if your birthday is coming up and it comes with a neck rub! Treat Yo Self!

  • @vino831 Sorry for the bad dreams....and also sorry for your less than stellar pedicure!! The massage of the calves and feet is the best part :(

@dubcompanion I hope a relaxing massage is in your future!! You deserve it!
  • 1. How far along are you? 34 weeks!

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? Really just looking forward to the little guy getting here! I do have another growth scan next week. His growth did drop quite a bit (in percentile) the last scan so I'm anxious to see what this scan reveals.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I think I've lost my ankles officially. Swelling has been getting worse so just trying to drink more water and soak more often in Epsom salts and also ice them at night.

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage?  I would love to get a pedicure. My feet are making me so sad right now!

  • @sarahbobby I am in the same boat with losing my ankles to swelling! But I can't see my feet anymore anyway due to my big belly, so I decided I don't care as long as I can keep the swelling down enough so that it doesn't hurt haha!
  • 1. How far along are you? 37 weeks

    2. Next appointment/any milestone you're looking forward to? I'm just happy I got to see my doctor today! My appointments had been canceled twice due to him having to run off and deliver other babies, so I was getting antsy for updates on my own baby's health. Third time's the charm! And baby hasn't been keen to show his face or profile during check-ups, but today we got to see him straight on, with his chubby cheeks working on swallowing skills. I feel much better.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I can't put into words how excited I am that we're all so close to the point where we get to hold our babies in our arms. <3

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage? Hmm. I really ought to get a hair cut (so many split ends...) and a pedicure would be nice, because reaching my own feet is like an Olympic sport these days. Maybe I have new weekend plans!

  • @vino831 Thanks for the lemon water tip! I'll definitely be trying that out.
Sorry about the bad dreams. :( I go through those sometimes too. No advice to share, just empathy and prayers.

@dubcompanion "diapers and wipes are arriving at my doorstep" -- Isn't technology great sometimes?? Haha, DH and I ordered diapers and wipes from Amazon last week and were joking about how much easier my maternity leave will be than any of my mom's were, with the power to bring supplies and food to my door. :)

    4. GTKY: Do you plan on doing anything to pamper yourself before the big day? Get hair done, pedicure, prenatal massage? Getting my hair done, manicure, pedicure, and Brazilian wax this weekend. I have scheduled c-section in 2 wks so it's either then or earlier.
  • @EnglishTeacherMama Happy you finally got to see your doctor and that baby boy cooperated and you could see his chubby cheeks! :)

@mcdonald-bailey You're almost there! 2 more weeks, so exciting!
