I don't know where to put this.....

here's a random "I have spotting" question. I just had my dating ultrasound. Baby was moving and there was a heartbeat.  <3 But now that I'm home, I'm experiencing some dark old coloured spotting. I thinking this is on the normal side since I had a wand shoved up my lady parts. Am I right? Just an irritation. I didn't have a dating ultrasound the last time.

I don't have any advice because I genuinely don't know.. I would think it's normal because of the ultrasound "dildo" as one of my friends calls it (lol) but I just wanted to say I'll keep you in my thoughts! Hope you and your little jellybean are okay.

  • @daniellelynette  haha, that's what I told DH it looked like and he laughed. Then, he went with me this last time and was like "Yeah... you weren't wrong."

  • Thanks ladies @HollyGolightly09 and @daniellelynette

its always alarming when you see it because you know it's not supposed to be there.

And that large wand that they shove a glove into is so not my thing. Next time *if there's a next time* I will not opt for the early ultrasound. Sheesh.

*Creepy interwebs hugs hugs to you both*
  • Yup pretty sure it's normal. During my last pregnancy I had a little spotting after my exam. I mean that tech goes elbow deep so I think it's expected. I believe the rule of thumb is if it's dark and just a little then you should be fine. You could always call your OB nurse line just to be sure.

Oh oh I also remember them telling me to rest to make it stop faster. Good luck. FX

  • I had a vaginal one at 6 weeks and a few days later I started having a bit of brown spotting here and there for a few days.  Now almost 10 weeks so totally normal.
  • I wouldn't be surprised since this happened right after your ultrasound. The transvaginal ultrasounds are always super weird and uncomfortable.
  • Normal!

  • totally normal!!! Happens to me too.
  • I had a couple days of spotting after they used the ultrasound wand to confirm my pcos, so I can definitely confirm that the spotting doesn't have to be pregnancy related. Hope everyone's stories can kind of ease your worries

  • So the spotting finally subsided yesterday. One full week of spotting. That wand really ticked off my cervix. Thanks for all your reassurance ladies!!! Some days I'd be lost without the bump.
  • @kailapop This is good to hear! I'm having some spotting after an ultraounds yesterday, and even though I'm not cramping, and I know it's normal, I'm still a little freaked out.
