Kids who share rooms

This isn't a problem for me - yet. I just have the one LO for now. :)

We live in a pretty small 2-bedroom apartment, and we are planning to have another baby, probably in the next year or two. The idea is they'll share a room, eventually. But with how often LO is up in the night (still at least 1x), and the ruckus he sometimes makes at bedtime, I wonder how this will ever work when he's a bit older - it seems like his rest would be quite disrupted by a little sibling in the same room.

Do any of you have kids who share a room? How and when did you transition the baby into the older sib's room for nighttime sleep? I know. It's a bit early to be worrying about this when I'm not even pregnant yet, but I'm trying to figure out the logistics.

Re: Kids who share rooms

  • I have four kids so my oldest two share a room and my youngest two share. This was a first time for us moving an infant in with an older sibling (we moved him at about 2 months) and I was a little nervous about that as the older one was a very light sleeper. We were very lucky and it didn't bother him at all, in fact, he actually sleeps a lot better now and rarely would wake up when the baby was crying.

  • We have 3kids.my older 2(9&13) shared a room until about a few months ago.they started sharing when my middle son was about 3.even though they had their own beds most mornings we found them cuddled up together. It has its con's to when they start wanting their own space but it worked for us !!
