Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When do you start Stage 2 foods?

DD has been on solids for about 1-1.5 months. It may be way too early, but I am curious. Is there a certain milestone that they need to reach first?

Re: When do you start Stage 2 foods?

  • I started Stage 2 around 6 months. She had been on solids for about a month.  I started after going through all the stage 1 foods and making sure she didn't have any reactions to the individual fruits and veggies. Stage 2 basically are larger portions and mixtures of new and old fruits and veggies.  It says they should sit independently.  My DD could do that, but I don't think it is necessarily that important.

  • We just started them this weekend, so around six months.
  • i think the rule of thumb is when they have been through all of the stage 1s without any problems.  however, i think we went through stage 1s two times.  when i realized i was adding a decent amount of cereal to thicken it up, it was time!
