I delivered at SL. The anesthesiologist was an ass, but I had a couple of wonderful nurses. (Shout out to the BEST: Brenda Kelly!) I didn't like changing rooms several times, and I didn't think the lactation consultants were very helpful. (I'm pretty much the WORST patient a doctor/hospital could have, so take this FWIW.)
I just delivered at St. Luke's last month and had a fabulous experience. I did not switch rooms multiple times so I am not sure what happened to previous poster. I actually was seeing a doctor who only delivered at Mh-MC and switched when I found out it had one of the highest c-section rates in the city of Houston and that my doctor actually scheduled most of her deliveries rather than letting the moms go into labor on their own. I have a mom of one of my students who is a labor and delivery nurse there and she actually verified that a lot of unethical stuff goes on there as far as doctors pushing sections on people who did not really need them. Sorry to get on my soapbox, but that truly bothers me.
Ditto what pp said about the lactation consultants at SL , though. The only good one I've heard is Shirley-she clearly knew what she was talking about. The other ones I saw were not too hot at all.
Delivering at SL, the benifit is the NICU(TCH) is connected to the hospital. Depends what anesthisiologist(sp), is on call, Mine was terriffic-one shot epi. Antepartum rocks(was there for a month). Postpartum sucked! It felt like a completely diff. Hospital.
