My UO is the responses I have gotten when I tell people I work from home. It's always like they think I don't have a real job or that since I work from home my house should always be spotless or that I shouldn't have to put my kid in daycare or hire a nanny. I'm like people what part of I still have to put in 8 hours a day just like you do are you not understanding? I'm not getting paid to be at home and clean my house and spend time with kids...
My UO, I actually think Gary Johnson would have made a good president. I read his whole platform and I thought some of the changes he was proposing actually might have done some good.
Pleeease don't flame me for that ha I really don't want to start any political discussions. Just sharing my UO
@lap018 I remember reading a thread somewhere (maybe on my previous BMB) about a mom who wasn't going to have any kind of childcare because she worked from home and would be going back full-time at 4 weeks. I wonder how that worked out!
I work from home every once in a while and I just close the door to my office and stay in there as if I were at the firm. Still gotta get the same amount done!
@lap018 I get similar comments because I stay home. Except, people seem to think I'm just an uneducated idiot because I'm a SAHM. No. I have a BS in a science field and am 1 semester away from a graduate degree.
My UO: I don't think Disney is amazing. We didn't watch a ton of those movies growing up and never went to the parks. People act as if my childhood was deprived.
@mynamestaken I think it's weird when adults are STILL obsessed with Disney. We know a couple who spent their honeymoon at Disney even though they go twice a year already. Crazy.
@MyNamesTaken hahahahaha I'm sure it worked out perfectly with no issues
@Becky012016 why do people have to assume anything about anyone? Haven't they heard what happens when you assume something??? Not to mention being a SAHM is so hard too! In a different way yes but man children will test your nerves!! I just hate judgement, like where does anyone get off thinking they're better than anyone else?
@MyNamesTaken I agree. There's a nostalgia factor for me with some of the movies, but I don't understand the point of going to the parks all the time. I know someone who goes there twice a year. To each their own, but wouldn't you rather do something new? *shrug*
I'm an uneducated idiot staying home with my baby! I flunked out of college when I had really bad depression. I didn't even make it a semester, so I have no credits that would even count. I am planning on going back to school when baby #2 is old enough to go to daycare. I would love to go to school for nursing. I feel like now that I know what I want and I have a lot more riding on this, I'll be able to be more serious than my 18 year old, pot smoking, partying all the time self.
@daniellelynette Hey, there's real value in going to school later. I bet you'll do great! Maybe this should be my UO. I don't think kids should be told college is their only respectable option right after high school.

This makes me think of a friend I have who has no childcare lined up because her husband is going to work from home. Their baby is a couple weeks old now. I wonder how that's going. Lol, I just laugh when I see those Facebook posts. Good luck with that.
@runbyfruiting I totally agree. When I started going to school I thought I wanted to do graphic design but now I just laaaaugh! Nursing is 100% the way I want to go. And thanks, I really hope I will do okay! I am nervous I will have forgotten too much
@jessieR358 I just love all of the sanctimommy Facebook posts from my friends that I see. The ones who are pregnant or have a newborn and just have everything totally figured out. They already know how to be the perfect parent. It makes me laugh!
I voted for Gary Johnson (even though he's my least favorite libertarian), because I think opening up our system to three or four parties is a great idea, and I wanted my vote to say something. (We live in a decidedly blue state, so I didn't feel guilty about casting a protest vote.)
I also work from home, and I HATE how people think that since I work from home and have no kids I must have all the free time in the world. Nope. Don't ask me to do all the crap moms with "real" jobs don't have time to do because you assume I have the time. Andplusalso, we will most likely have a part-time nanny once this baby is six-ish months old. I love my job, and I'm hustling in my career right now. I have a legitimate shot at getting a book deal, and I worked years to get here. I want my child to know that being a good mom and having a good career don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Yes!! I'm FB friends with someone that has a 5 month old and has been giving EVERYONE parenting advice since day one. You've been a parent for a minute, give it some time. I have a 4 1/2 year old and I still bite my tongue plenty of times.

My cousins wife irritates me to no end because of crap like this... I can't even talk to her without her attacking something I say/some question I ask. She's this super crunchy "I've read every article about the way mothers in Kenya raise their babies so I'm an expert" and sometimes I want to rip my eyeballs out... SHE YELLED AT ME FOR ASKING IF SHE WAS USING LANOLIN. I can't even handle her. I heart crunchy moms, I'm part crunchy myself, but dang she's gonna get her eyes opened real soon! Her daughter isn't even a month old yet and she swears she knows everything.
@lap018 I so feel your pain. I work from home too. DH is a stay at home dad. When we first started this arrangement it was so hard for him to grasp the concept that I had to work. He constantly tried to get me to go do stuff or hang out with him. He is much better now and very understanding. My in laws, not so much.
Now excuse me while I drink my coffee and watch Disney.
I hate the every way is best mentality. I understand different families have diffferent needs and means and abilities. I don't think it's a bad thing to make choices based on what's best for your own personal situation, I do hate when we try to make it like every choice is equally the best choice. That doesn't make any sense. It's ok to choose the second best option if it works better for your family. I know I'm being really general here, I don't wanna totally piss everyone off. But for example, I'm feeling like crap lately and my kids have had a bit more screen time than usual. It's working best for us at the moment so I can get some rest, but I'm not gonna pretend like it's equally as good as when I have planned hands on activities and outings for my kids.
I have never liked coffee either! And I even worked at a coffee shop during college. Which was fine- I'll make money for serving it to others, I'm just not drinking it. (Or eating it. I'm side eyeing you, tiramisu.)
Also, people seem really psyched about Emma Watson as Belle in the live action Beauty and the Beast...and her singing is not good. Not legit, Broadway caliber anyway, and with no emotion in it.

NOooooo. Not tiramisu. That's just blasphemy.

i was really excited about the B&B live action when they first announced and each trailer has been more and more disappointing. At this point, I don't plan on seeing it at all.

Apparently this is unpopular, but I can't wait for the Beauty and the Beast live action! Emma Watson looks like and embodies Belle, imo, and the set and costume designs are lovely.
@amandarene112 haha, I'm excited about it, too! But, I'm a sucker for a Disney remake, so that's not a surprise. I have, admittedly, not really listened to her sing. I do think she looks beautiful in the trailers and that the set is amazing.

My UO is that I think all seafood tastes terrible. I live by the water, so there are a lot of seafood places here. I try to avoid them.
