Random #1: Yesterday I finished reading "A Dog's Purpose" - SO GOOD, probably the best book I've ever read! I've never cried so much throughout any book before...although I'm not sure how much of my tears were because I'm pregnant I lost it at the end especially when one of the characters in it had a baby boy named Chase (our LO's name!) and can't wait to see the movie now!
Random #2: I've got to get my TDAP vaccine soon, so my doctor told me at my last appt. to just go to any pharmacy or my primary doctor... I want to try a CVS/Walgreens/etc but am wondering - have any of you gotten yours at a pharmacy like this and did you have to call ahead to schedule an appt/find out if your insurance would help cover it?
i randomly got my flu shot done at wegman's one day and didn't need an appointment. i just told them my insurance provider and they did it right there.
@serenity13 It couldn't hurt to call ahead to your preferred pharmacy just to make sure they actually have it, but usually no appointment is necessary at all. My OB actually gave me my tDap, but my husband did his at our local Walgreens (he went to Rite Aid first and they normally would have been happy to do it, but were out of stock at the moment).
Also, have you been following the controversy regarding animal cruelty in the filming of "A Dog's Purpose"? One of my students came in really upset about it the other day and showed me the video - it tore me apart. I LOVED the book, but now I refuse to see the movie because of it which really bums me out because I was so excited about seeing the movie
thanks everyone! I'm trying to get DH to get his too (he still hasn't even gotten his flu shot) he's so stubborn about shots haha
@JustAnotherUsername16 yes I'm the biggest animal lover I know so I was super upset when they broke that story/video but after researching more and reading this piece the producer wrote to get more facts I feel like it's too good of a story not to see it - I know I'll need to bring a whole box of tissues with me though!
Sitting at work all day is starting to get painful. In a weird spot too - my middle to upper back? It's a place my chiro can adjust but I was trying to avoid going more often. So I keep going from sitting, to sitting on my ball, to pacing around my cubicle. 3.5 more weeks before I can work at home full time until LO gets here. Oy.

@serenity13 My mom got a TDAP at the CVS, AND they gave her a receipt as proof that she got it.
I know it will be nearly impossible to police whether or not all people that come to see the babies have gotten their TDAP/flu shot, but I've asked my close family to get both and they've all agreed. No one has had an issue with walking in to their pharmacy to get it.
This reminds me that I have to ask my MIL to get this shot. Not sure that will go over well. She thinks that vitamins are poison...
I didn't get selected to be on the jury!!! Yay! Apparently they didn't think I would be a good fit for a child abuse case involving an infant (there are some effed up people in this world). Hmmmm, wonder why.....
Yesterday I had a biometric screening as part of a reimbursement thing for my health insurance. My cholesterol was high. I googled immediately and read that during pregnancy this can happen, but I've never had high cholesterol! My "good" cholesterol was very high (how you want it to be) so the nurse at the screening said not to worry, but of course I'm worried, the number was a bit shocking for someone who has always had healthy numbers. All my other stats like blood sugar and BP were very good - and I will be talking to my OB at my appt on Thurs but now I'm just freaked out. Anyone else experience this?
@jenny0228 - I had labs done around 20 weeks for a life insurance policy and my HDL was super high too (90+ mg/dL). I do think pregnancy throws the values off but if you're concerned you can always have it rechecked a few months postpartum.
Thanks ladies! And @kjd291 right? that's what I'm saying. A friend of mine is an extra on their show so I'm going to try to use her as my in. I mean, it's only for one day, but would be pretty cool!

@thisisallyson ugh, I have jury duty on the 13th. I legit get called every 3 years. Once, I got called twice in one year (and got picked to serve on a federal jury). I'm praying that my current heffalump status and weekly doctor appts get me sent home.
My mom offered to take a day off work and come up to help me get the baby's room organized this week while DH is on a work trip...score! It'll be fun to spend some one on one time with her....we've always been around my dad, DH, and/or other friends and family, so this will be nice.
When I told DH he said MIL offered as well, if I'm interested. Is it bad that I'm not? I just want to hang out with my mom....

@ngcsugirl1112 - It's not bad at all. Just explain that you would like to have this time with just you and your mom, since you normally don't have that kind of one on one time, if he asks. You certainly don't have to justify that you want you and mom time. Hope you have fun!
@ngcsugirl1112 nope not at all - you need some alone time with your mom. Maybe find something else to do with your MIL if you want so that she doesn't feel left out of baby planning but you can still have your time with your mom?
Thanks @mecoats and @JustAnotherUsername16...DH has a sister so I kind of feel like MIL will get her turn whenever SIL gets pregnant....I'm not super close to her so I don't feel horrible about leaving her out but there is a small twinge of guilt...I think that would last until she actually showed up at my house and tried to help and I would get annoyed with her...

My moms friend had a C-Section last week and the doctor CUT THE BABIES FACE. How the hell does that happen!? This poor mama and baby are now living in a hospital in Boston for care as baby heals and gets treated by specialists.
@kjd291 I've heard of things like that happening on more than one occasion. Never in that location though. Just goes to show that doctors are human, but I would for sure hate to be the person that that happened to.

Same here - elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. This is supposed to happen during pregnancy - cholesterol is the precursor to hormones (estrogen and progesterone??). Also your bloodstream is carrying extra nutrients to the baby and they need certain lipids for development. It's actually kind of silly to do a biometric screening for those numbers during pregnancy because they will be elevated, but I was in the same situation with my health insurance requiring it, so whatever, I gave them my blood. Next year it will look much better!
Just have to say and let y'all know: I got bilateral injections today for my numbness and pain in my upper extremities. (Hallelujah hands!)
i honestly didnt know injections were an option. I went to my OB yesterday and he said they were, so he recommended an orthopaedic hand specialist.
I have endured (now) 3 pregnancies with these symptoms and I always put off the option of going to an ortho specialist. Let me just say..if your pain is keeping you up at night or making you want to cry and miserable..consider this an option! Instant relief!!!
Injections are okay in the third trimester and I had a female doctor so we talked a long time about it. She told me about studies and trials they did and how once the organs are developed (obviously we know things are still growing but she meant not in the process of multiplying cells beginning stage) that steroids are completely okay and both she and my OB wouldn't recommend something they haven't seen work and completely trust.
Anyway..I'm probably going to post again tomorrow about how wonderful it was to sleep for the first time in months without waking in pain and crying. So be prepared for that YAY
Random: I feel really sad our time here is slowly coming to an end... and I feel terrible I have not been as active. Quite a few of y'all I will miss chatting with here! Please tell me y'all are already or going to be in the fb group?!!! I'm so use to y'all's username on here!!!

It's not necessarily ending any time soon. We'll all have babies to ask questions and advice about and to just chat about in general.
I'm not leaving either! You ladies will be my lifeline, especially since I'm moving and I won't know a single soul where we'll live. I'll need some type of adult interaction besides with my husband, even if it is virtual.
Same here! Although after baby comes I'm open to joining a facebook group too, but I love our little community here! I seriously don't know what I'd be doing without you ladies!
